Fantasy Baseball Daily Hitting Recap: 8/20/2025

Breaking down notable hitting performances from yesterday’s games.

Trea, I Was Like Yo Trea

Trea Turner (PHI): 5-6, 3B, 3 R, 2 RBI, 2 SB.

Phillies fans can go bottoms up on a couple of bottles after their team pulled off an impressive sweep of the Mariners following an 11-2 beating on Wednesday. Mr. Steal Yo Bases Trea Turner stole his 30th and 31st bags to go along with five hits in the win. Turner is riding a 10-game hitting streak in which he’s batting .522 with a 1.237 OPS, and he’s had a multi-hit game in six of his past seven to fuel the Philadelphia lineup. The 32-year-old now has his season average up to .303, and his 31 steals are the most he’s had in a season since he stole 32 bags with the Nationals and the Dodgers in 2021.

Let’s see how the other hitters did on Wednesday:

Kyle Schwarber (PHI): 3-5, HR, 2B, 2 R, 5 RBI.

Kyle Schwarber is closing fast on Cal Raleigh for the major league home run lead after he belted his 45th on Wednesday. He has homered in back-to-back games and has a whopping 14 over his last 30 games. With his five RBI, Schwarber also extended his league lead in that category with 109, besting Raleigh, who only has a measly 102.

Julio Rodríguez (SEA): 3-4, HR, 2B, R, RBI.

Julio Rodríguez was the lone bright spot for the Mariners on Wednesday, going three for four with his 25th HR of the season. Rodriguez has been tremendous since the All-Star Break, with 11 of his 25 HRs and a 162 wRC+ compared to his 109 wRC+ in the first half.

Dillon Dingler (DET): 2-4, 3B, 2B, 2 R, RBI.

The Tigers came roaring out of the gates with a six-run first inning, highlighted by an RBI triple by catcher Dillon Dingler. Dingler has quietly had a very solid season at the plate, hitting .274/.32/.432 with 11 HRs in 336 at-bats.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (ARI): 2-4, HR, R, 2 RBI.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a game-tying solo HR in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Diamondbacks were able to win the game in extras, besting the Guardians 3-2 in 10. Gurriel has been seeing the ball well for Arizona of late, hitting .321/.367/.679 with three of his 17 HRs over the last week.

Vinnie Pasquantino (KC): 2-3, HR, R, 3 RBI, 2 BB.

Vinnie Pasquantino continued his strong week, hitting his 25th HR of the season and his fourth in his last 10 games. He has seven HRs and 20 RBI in his last 15 games and is really turning it on in the second half as the Royals try to claw their way back into the playoff picture.

Wyatt Langford (TEX): 2-2, HR, 3 R, RBI, 3 BB.

Wyatt Langford set the table for the Rangers’ 6-3 win over Kansas City, getting on base all five times, including a leadoff HR off starter Noah Cameron to begin the contest. We haven’t seen quite the production we were hoping for from the former fourth overall pick in 2023, but Langford is someone I am going to be watching very closely over the last month and a half, as he could show signs of the breakout we all expected coming into the season.

Trent Grisham (NYY): 3-5, 2 HR, 2 R, 2 RBI.

After hitting nine HRs in the game on Tuesday, the Yankees followed it up with five more yesterday, including two from leadoff hitter Trent Grisham. The 14 HRs tied a major league record for most in a two-game span. Grisham has been a bit of a revelation this year, now sitting at 23 HRs with an .817 OPS after hitting 22 HRs combined and averaging a .670 OPS over his previous two seasons.

Austin Wells (NYY): 2-4, 2 HR, 2 R, RBI.

Austin Wells also mashed two solo HRs for the Pinstripes on Wednesday, and it couldn’t have come at a better time for the 26-year-old catcher. The Yankees have gotten more comfortable with Ben Rice behind the plate, which has resulted in Wells starting only two games since August 14.

Tyler Soderstrom (ATH): 2-3, HR, 2B, 2 R, RBI, 2 BB.

Tyler Soderstrom got on base four times, bashed a 426-foot HR to centerfield, and added a double as the Athletics outlasted the Twins 4-2 in 10 innings. Soderstrom has experienced an up-and-down season but has rallied over the last two weeks, hitting .347/.429/.653 with four HRs.

Hunter Goodman (COL): 3-5, 2B, 3 RBI.

Hunter Goodman continues to be one of the few bright spots on the Rockies roster, knocking in three runs as part of a three-hit day as Colorado upset the Dodgers 8-3. Goodman leads all National League catchers with 25 HRs, and he has had arguably the best offensive season of any catcher not named Cal Raleigh.

Gavin Sheets (SD): 2-4, 2 HR, 2 R, 4 RBI.

Gavin Sheets has seen his playing time fluctuate a bit following San Diego’s trade deadline acquisitions, but he took the most of his opportunity on Wednesday, hitting his 16th and 17th HRs of the season in the Padres’ 8-1 win over San Francisco. A savvy offseason pickup by AJ Preller, Sheets has set career-highs in HRs, runs, and RBI this season for San Diego.
