Suspension Update
Tim Anderson’s suspension has been reduced to five days after appealing the original six-day suspension. He also saved around $77,000 from the fine that was handed out by appealing. Anderson is the last to serve the ban and received the longest suspension after initiating a brawl with José Ramírez of the Cleveland Guardians. Anderson also took to his personal Instagram issuing an apology to fans, coaches, teammates, and the organization.

The Second Coming
Nicknamed the Australian Ohtani, Geneiveve Beacom has been drawing attention world-wide. Beacom, 18, grew up playing mostly on men’s teams. and pitched in the gold medal game for the youth women’s team in Victoria. The lefty recorded 17 strikeouts. Beacom has recently started hitting again with a little encouragement from her dad. On being compared to Shohei Ohtani, she said “It excites me so much. I mean, it’s an absolute honor to be compared to him. He’s amazing, he’s phenomenal.”

The Losses Continue
For the first time in over 30 years, the Yankees will not find a path to the playoffs, or a winning season. After several recent losses, the Yankees are now 60-61. It seems like everything is going wrong with injuries, bullpen issues, and an underperforming offense. Only Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres carry an OPS+ above league average.

Injuries and Other Moves
Cal Quantrill is scheduled to throw 85 pitches this Sunday in his third rehab start.
Zach Neto is pain-free and is expected to return to baseball activities as soon as today. Meanwhile, Mike Trout may begin facing live pitching this weekend.
Mark Vientos was placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Wednesday, with left wrist tendonitis.
Steven Matz will be in no-throw mode for the rest of August.
Nathan Eovaldi is scheduled to throw another bullpen session this weekend.
