Cole Ragans‘ Knuckle curve
Ragans was dominant yet again in this outing versus Detroit. He struck out six Tigers, including this nasty knuckle curve to Matt Vierling. He has recorded at least six strikeouts in nine of his last ten games.
Blake Snell’s Slider
Snell entered Camden Yards to face a tough Orioles lineup and existed with twelve strikeouts. He pitched six innings and allowed one hit, two walks, and zero runs. He is about as matchup-proof as they come.
Mitch Spence’s Slider
Spence is a relatively unknown pitcher, but he’s been solid for Oakland this season. He had his slider working last night. This one forced Seiya Suzuki to chase outside the zone.
Zack Wheeler’s Sweeper
Wheeler continued his dominant ways against the Brew Crew in Milwaukee. He hasn’t allowed more than two runs in any start since August 3rd. This sweeper to Rhys Hoskins was my favorite from him of the night.
Zebby Matthews‘ Slider
Zebby Matthews is a name you might hear a lot next season. The rookie has a 9.60 K/9 through seven Major League starts. This was an impressive slider to one of MLB’s best players.
Michael King’s Changeup
King had seven punchouts over seven innings here against the Astros. This pitch to strikeout Jon Singleton was my favorite from him. 88mph moving left to right. Nasty.
Mason Miller’s Fastball
Miller topped 104 mph yet again with this heater to Seiya Suzuki, who is twice a victim of a nasty pitch this week. 104 mph is tough to hit, no matter where you paint it.
Frankie Montas‘ Splitter
I’ll be the first to say I was not expecting ten strikeouts from Montas last night against the Phillies. The veteran looked dominant against one of the most powerful lineups in baseball. This was a nasty splitter to Cal Stevenson.
Brusdar Graterol’s Sinker
A 100mph sinker with a wave goodbye at the end might be the nastiest pitch of the night. The Marlins kept pace with the Dodgers here and ultimately beat the team with the second-best record in baseball.
Luis Gil’s Changeup
Gil deployed a nasty changeup here to Luke Raley to get the Yanks out of a jam. Gil has had a stellar season for New York, and these types of pitches are a big reason why.
