Weekend Streaming: Week 12

Searching for five players to help you win your Week 12 matchup.

Welcome back to another weekend streaming article where I select five players based on hot streaks, pitching/team matchups, or a combination of things to help fantasy owners acquire cheap, low-roster rate (50% or below) production to help win the last two days of their weekly matchups.

Here are Week 11’s results:

Not ideal to say the least. Let’s dive into Week 12…

Wenceel Pérez, OF, Detroit Tigers

Perez, 25, has been exceptional since returning to the show in eighteen games. He smacked 9 total home runs last season (1 per every 43 AB), but already has a whopping 5 (1 per 11.8 AB) this year.

AVG OBP SLG OPS wOBA EV wRC+
.316 .355 .702 1.057 .441 92 mph 192

Perez faces the Rays this weekend, the staff that’s allowed the T-1st most HR/FB (14%) this month. This is a really intriguing matchup.

Dustin May, RHP, Los Angeles Dodgers

May has had himself a “meh” year, turning in a 4.46 ERA/4.18 FIP through 72.2 innings, but this weekend’s matchup looks promising. He faces off against a bottom-tier offense in the month of June, the Washington Nationals. They’ve slashed .239/.307/.382 with a .305 wOBA and -18.9 batting value in June. May has also gone 6+ IP in two of his past three starts.

Kumar Rocker, RHP, Texas Rangers

Rocker has been an iffy arm in terms of fantasy, but the FIP (4.05) indicates the sky high 7.31 ERA is in for some positive regression. Last time out, Rocker tossed 6 innings of scoreless ball with 6 Ks and a 1.00 WHIP. He faces a Pirates offense that has been awful, slashing .224/.301/.334 with a .284 wOBA and 77 wRC+ in June. This is a very favorable matchup for an arm that’s looking to turn the page.

Rostered: 14% (Yahoo)

Christopher Morel, UT, Tampa Bay Rays

Morel has been scorching hot in the month of June, going 8-for-23 (.348) in recent play with a .469 wOBA and 209 wRC+. He’s got 5 XBH and 6 RBI over that span while putting together three multi-hit games in his last four starts. The 59% HH rate, 96 mph average EV, and 12% barrel rate are all really encouraging numbers.

Rostered: 7% (Yahoo)

Jose Trevino, C, Cincinnati Reds

Fantasy managers always need catchers. Trevino has been fantastic overall this year with a 127 wRC+ in 46 games, but has taken that to another level in June, slashing .375/.429/.625 with a .443 wOBA and 181 wRC+. He’s walking the same amount as striking out (11%) and enters play today with three multi-hit games this month.

Rostered: 1% (Yahoo)
