Fantasy Baseball Daily Hitting Recap: 5/28/2025

Breaking down notable hitting performances from yesterday’s games.

Agustin On The Loose

Agustín Ramírez (MIA): 4-5, HR, 2 R, 4 RBI.

A major piece of the Jazz Chisholm Jr. trade last July, Agustín Ramírez has taken the baseball world by storm since making his MLB debut on April 21. The 23-year-old phenom was as clutch as it gets for the Marlins on Wednesday, hitting a game-tying HR in the third inning and giving Miami the lead permanently with a two-run single in the eighth inning. Ramirez hasn’t shown many weaknesses at the plate despite his inexperience, showcasing an excellent 16.7 K% and the power (.262 ISO) that made him worth trading the All-Star Chisholm for. There is a plethora of exciting young catchers in baseball right now, and Ramirez has as bright a future as any of them.

Let’s see how the other hitters did Wednesday:

Andrew Benintendi (CHW): 3-5, HR, 3B, 2 R, 4 RBI.

You have to feel a little bit for Benintendi, marooned on White Sox Island, but he showed on Wednesday that he can still be a problem at the plate. The 30-year-old outfielder got the scoring started for Chicago with a two-run single in the first inning and followed it up with an RBI triple and his sixth HR of the season, as the White Sox avoided the sweep.

Angel Martínez (CLE): 2-5, HR, 2B, 2 R, 3 RBI.

Injuries have led to consistent playing time for Angel Martínez, and he may have just snatched the CF job away from Lane Thomas. Known for his glove (he did throw out Freddie Freeman at second base in this game), Martinez came through huge for the Guardians with a go-ahead three-run HR in the eighth inning to give Cleveland a 7-4 win over the Dodgers.

Heliot Ramos (SF): 3-5, HR, R, 2 RBI.

Heliot Ramos may be one of the more underrated players in baseball right now and has been the Giants’ most consistent hitter this season. He smashed a 111.4 mph, 426-foot two-run HR for his 10th of the season in the fifth inning and is now hitting .288/.349/.486 in 2025.

Junior Caminero (TB): 2-4, HR, R, 2 RBI.

Junior Caminero looked like he may have sustained an injury in the field in the top of the fourth inning, but he shook it off and snuck a two-run HR over the wall in the bottom of the inning off Pablo López. It has been a bit of an up-and-down season after the 21-year-old phenom generated astronomical expectations in the offseason, but there is no denying the young man’s power.

Sal Frelick (MIL): 4-5, 2 R.

Sal Frelick is your old-school, baseball-lifer grandpa’s favorite player. The 25-year-old outfielder plays the game hard, is very tough to strike out, and hits to all fields, and he pestered Red Sox pitchers with four singles on Wednesday.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa (PIT): 3-4, 2 2B, 3 R, 2 RBI.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa has always been a better real-life player than a fantasy player, but he put up a big stat line in the Buccos’ 10-1 win over Arizona. IKF poked a pair of doubles as part of a three-hit day, and he is now up to a very nice .297/.343/.381 line on the season.

Jacob Wilson (ATH): 2-3, HR, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB.

Speaking of hitters your grandpa probably likes, Jacob Wilson just continues to dominate major league pitching in every aspect. The 23-year-old now has seven HRs and 30 RBI for the Athletics and a ridiculous 5.8 BB% and 5.4 K%.

Otto Lopez (MIA): 3-5, HR, R, 3 RBI.

Otto Lopez has shown flashes of his tantalizing power/speed potential at times for the Marlins in 2025, and Wednesday was one of those times. Lopez’s fourth HR of the season, a two-run shot, tied the game in the sixth inning, and the combined efforts of Lopez and Ramirez led Miami to a 10-8 win over San Diego.

Gavin Sheets (SD): 2-3, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, BB.

Gavin Sheets did his best to win the game for the Padres, hitting an RBI single in the second inning and a two-run HR in the seventh. Sheets has quietly been one of the best acquisitions of the offseason, hitting .275/.324/.509 with an astounding 11 HRs in 171 at-bats after hitting just 10 HRs in 451 at-bats in 2024.

Masyn Winn (STL): 4-5, 2 2B, 3 R, RBI.

Masyn Winn just continues to be a solid hitter in the two-spot for the Cardinals, and after a four-hit, two-double day against the Orioles, he is up to .278/.357/.438.

Brendan Donovan (STL): 3-5, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI.

The St. Louis lineup struggled against Baltimore lefty Cade Povich through three innings on Wednesday, but Brendan Donovan broke the game open in the fifth inning with a two-run HR to give the Cardinals a 5-4 lead they would not relinquish. Despite it only being his fourth HR of the season, Donovan has been incredible at the plate for St. Louis, hitting .335/.395/.481.

James Wood (WAS): 2-4, HR, R, 3 RBI, BB, SB.

James Wood continued his breakout season in the Nationals’ 9-0 rout of Seattle, hitting his 15th HR and stealing his eighth base of the campaign. His 15 HRs are tied for fourth in the National League, and his 40 RBI have him tied for sixth. Washington certainly looks like they have a superstar on their hands, and the team could have the most dynamic outfield in baseball in a few years if Dylan Crews and Robert Hassell III develop.
