Hit Em High, Hit Em Lowe
Brandon Lowe (TB): 3-4, HR, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI.
Brandon Lowe got the scoring started for the Rays with a 107.4 mph, 411-foot HR off Kumar Rocker as Tampa Bay held on for a 5-4 win over the Rangers. He added an RBI double and a single later in the game and is now up to a .251/.302/.451 line with 12 HRs on the season. Lowe has been an excellent source of power as a 2B (easily the most at the position in baseball), and if he can stay healthy, should eclipse his 21 HR mark from the last two seasons and approach 30 HRs for the first time since 2021.
Let’s see how the other hitters did Wednesday:
Jackson Chourio (MIL): 3-5, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, SB.
Jackson Chourio broke the game open with a two-run HR, his 10th, in the fifth inning as the Brewers cruised to a 9-1 victory in Cincinnati. Chourio added his 12th stolen base and now has two HRs and three stolen bases over the last week.
Daz Cameron (MIL): 2-4, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI.
Former top prospect Daz Cameron has bounced around the majors since making his debut in 2020 with the Tigers and hit his first HR of 2025 on Wednesday, a two-run HR off Andrew Abbott. The son of MLB star Mike Cameron, the 28-year-old will try to parlay yesterday’s success into staying in the majors as the Brewers need some outfield depth.
Hunter Goodman (COL): 2-4, 3B, 2B, R, RBI.
Hunter Goodman ripped a 111.2 mph line drive that nearly took off the runner at second’s head and then made it all the way to the wall for an RBI triple in the first inning. He added a double later in the game, and after a little slump, is now hitting .320/.346/.840 over the last week.
Ceddanne Rafaela (BOS): 1-5, HR, R, 2 RBI.
Ceddanne Rafaela was staring at an 0-for-4 game when he hit an inexplicable 94 mph, 308-foot HR that snuck inside the Pesky Pole to complete an even more inexplicable comeback by the Red Sox for an 11-9 win over the Angels. The HR was the shortest HR by a Red Sox hitter since 2015.
Zach Neto (LAA): 2-5, 3B, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI.
Zach Neto continues to be a strong presence at the top of the Angels’ lineup as he started the game with a double in the first inning and a triple in the second inning off Boston starter Lucas Giolito. His 132 wRC+ is good for fifth among major league shortstops.
Taylor Ward (LAA): 1-4, HR, R, 4 RBI.
Taylor Ward’s .214 batting average and .256 on-base percentage are not exactly what you want out of your cleanup hitter, but he certainly has shown off his power this season. He is now sixth in baseball in HRs after hitting his 17th on Wednesday, a three-run shot in the first inning.
Daniel Schneemann (CLE): 3-4, 2 2B, RBI, SB.
After a three-hit game on Wednesday, I think it is time we start talking about Cleveland utility man Daniel Schneemann a bit more. He is hitting .254/.338/.463 on the season with seven HRs and four stolen bases and could be a sneaky pickup in deeper fantasy leagues.
Pete Alonso (NYM): 2-4, 2 HR, 2 R, 5 RBI.
Pete Alonso carried the Mets on offense against the Dodgers on Wednesday, clobbering a two-run HR in the first inning and a game-sealing three-run shot in the eighth. His 53 RBI are now tied for second in baseball behind Rafael Devers.
Riley Greene (DET): 3-5, 2B, R, 2 RBI.
After a three-hit game on Wednesday, Riley Greene has been awesome over the last month and is now up to a .283/.336/.506 line on the season. He has formed a solid middle-of-the-order duo with Spencer Torkelson, and Detroit will need the pair to continue backing their strong starting rotation.
Ryan Jeffers (MIN): 2-4, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI.
Ryan Jeffers got the scoring started for the Twins on Wednesday with a solo HR in the first inning, his fourth of the season. Minnesota is hoping that this jumpstarts his bat as he is trending well short of his 21 HR total from 2024.
