Fantasy Baseball Daily Hitting Recap: 7/6/25

Breaking down notable hitting performances from yesterday’s games.

Stott’s Trots

Bryson Stott (PHI): 1-2, HR, R, 2 RBI, 2 BB.

Bryson Stott hit a late eighth-inning two-run home run on Sunday at Citizens Bank Park to help the Phillies beat the Reds, making sure Philly didn’t waste ace Zack Wheeler’s complete game masterclass. This was only Stott’s sixth homer of the season, but it was a 405-foot no-doubter that left his bat at 105.8 mph. His final line on the day was 1-2, HR, R, 2 RBI, 2 BB.

Even with Sunday’s heroics, Stott is having his second-straight disaster of a season after his 2023 breakout. In 2024, he hit .245/.315/.356, and this year he has a slash line that’s slightly worse, hitting .238/.310/.340. His line over the last 30 games is a disgusting .198/.283/.277. That’s the bad kind of disgusting, by the way.

The most shocking Bryson Stott stat that I’ll share is that Stott is rostered in 58% of Yahoo! leagues and started in 30% of them. Yup, mind-boggling. Let me explain.

Stott has always been a two-trick pony — he’s a good source of late steals without his BA killing you. However, that BA is looking pretty weak this year, especially with an xBA of .242. As for his 13 steals, his sprint speed has dropped from the 91st percentile to the 83rd percentile, and he’s sitting a lot more against lefties, meaning his ability to reach 30 steals for the third straight season is in jeopardy. Blend that in with his lack of power (a.k.a. fewer home run trots) and his low spot in the lineup when he’s starting (a.k.a. fewer chances for counting stats) and you have a player profile that should be left on the waiver wire in 12-teamers, and maybe even 15-teamers. PLV’s Process+ agrees — the man is average.

Do your fantasy team a favor and cut Bryson Stott. There are better BA, SB, and 2B/SS options out there. I guarantee it.

Let’s see how the other hitters did Sunday:

Mickey Moniak (COL): 3-4, 3B, HR, R, 3 RBI, SB.

Former No. 1 overall draft pick/bust Mickey Moniak had a great day at the plate for the Rockies against the White Sox on Sunday. A solo shot in the first, followed by a two-run triple later in the game, helped propel Colorado to victory. Moniak is up to 13 homers on the season, one shy of last year’s 14, but in almost half the games. His barrel and hard-hit rates are also the best in his career by far, and he’s slashing .347/.373/.878 over his last 15 games, including six home runs. Don’t overlook Sunday’s box score and think “blame it on Coors” or “blame it on the White Sox.” Moniak has more fantasy value than his 5% rostered rate on Yahoo! suggests.

Jackson Holliday (BAL): 4-4, 2B, HR, R, 2 RBI.

Holliday has a perfect game at the plate against the Braves, crushing a two-run homer off Grant Holmes, helping his Orioles to a win in Atlanta. Holliday has been an underwhelming lead-off hitter for the underwhelming 2025 Baltimore Orioles, but with his age, bumps were always expected along the way. Still, it was the 21-year-old’s second career 4-for-4 game, which just goes to show you his immense talent. Stay patient, fantasy owners. Process+ likes his 2025 trajectory, especially in the power department, so Holliday could be in store for a big second half.

Ceddanne Rafaela (BOS): 3-4, 2B, HR, 2 R, RBI.

That’s two nights in a row with a homer for Ceddanne, and he’s had a robust .306/.342/.630 line over the last 30 days which complements his 47% hard-hit rate (10.1% higher than last season). With 11 SBs and hitting toward the bottom of the Red Sox lineup, Rafaela is everything we wish Bryson Stott could be. Yet Rafaela’s roster rate on Yahoo! is 59%, only one percent higher than Stott’s. Lol.

Byron Buxton (MIN): 2-5, HR, 2 R, RBI, SB.

Buxton devoured another combo meal on Sunday and is now up to 20 homers and 16 steals in his age-31 season. Buxton’s career (healthy) year means that a 35/35 season is not out of the question. It’s hard not to imagine what could have been if Buxton stayed healthy during all those lost years.

Yainer Diaz (HOU): 2-4, 2B, HR, 2 R, RBI.

Diaz is not having the season fantasy owners hoped for, but one that fantasy analysts saw coming from a mile away. His value lies in his BA, and .248 is not going to cut it if you have a fifth-percentile walk rate. This was his second game in a row with a dinger, and he has a modest five-game hit streak… Still, he shouldn’t be rostered like a top-12 catcher, which he is on Yahoo! (83% rostered).

Seiya Suzuki (CHC): 2-5, 2B, HR, R, 2 RBI.

Seiya celebrated his All-Star snub by smacking his 25th homer of the season and collecting two more RBIs. Seiya is now up to 77 RBI on the season, which leads the league in that category. It’s wild that he won’t be suiting up for the NL team in Atlanta, but at least he brings his dark red Statcast page and 15th overall Process+ with him to your fantasy lineups day in and day out. What a stud.

Trey Sweeney (DET): 1-3, HR, R, 3 RBI, BB.

Sweeney Trey has a trey of his own for the Tigers, hitting a three-run home run in the 10th inning to help Detroit beat Cleveland in extra innings. Sweeney has bounced up and down between Triple-A and the big leagues, and if he hasn’t done enough to prove himself to the Tigers, he shouldn’t be on fantasy rosters.

Aaron Judge (NYY): 1-4, HR, R, 3 RBI.

Ho hum, just Aaron Judge doing Judgian things, smacking his 33rd home run of the season. It’s going to be a blast this summer watching Cal Raleigh and Judge race to 63, or at least duke it out for the AL MVP honors. Hopefully, he’ll join Raleigh in the Home Run Derby for some must-see TV!

Willy Adames (SFG): 1-3, HR, R, 3 RBI, 2 BB.

Willy Adames had a great game for the Giants in a rare late West Coast Sunday night game, blasting a solo shot and getting not one, but two RBI walks, both on 3-2 counts. Adames is 11-for-24 over the past week, with nine RBIs, including seven in the past two games. Check your waiver wire — he’s out there in many leagues after his slow start.
