Welcome to the Waiver Wire Picks, our daily fantasy baseball article that looks at the best players in baseball that you should be adding to your rosters. We’ll look at the players that are likely to be available in most leagues, as well as some deep league waiver wire options, and we’ll also look at the most added players in fantasy baseball across the major sites, and let you know which players to add and which you can leave on the wire.
Top Priority Players to Add
Zack Gelof (ATH) – 2B, 3B, OF (Yahoo! – 36%)
It’s good to have you back, old friend. Gelof came roaring back out of obscurity this season, before a string of injuries cost him the last month. He made a splash in his first game back, going 2 for 4 with a double and a home run. Gelof is widely available again, and there’s no time like the present to add him.
Calling Gelof a post-hype sleeper is putting it lightly. He had a strong rookie year in 2023, posting an .840 OPS with 14 HR and 14 SB in 69 games. In the intervening seasons, his OPS fell first to .632 and then to .502. He dropped off the fantasy radar completely after his short 2025 season.
A few changes to his swing this offseason made Gelof a new man. Or rather, flashed him back to his rookie season. He’s always had good plate discipline, but he improved his contact on pitches in the zone from awful to average and immediately saw results. He had a 24-game hitting streak, and his OPS for the season sits at .832, with 12 HR and 8 SB in 68 games. Without the injuries, those numbers probably look even better. He had a 1.026 OPS in 19 games in June, before hitting the IL with a hand contusion.
Injured lists are full everywhere, and Gelof went from over 70% rostered down to 36%. He fixed his biggest hitting flaw and transformed into a serious power and speed threat. He looks healthy and got right back into the swing of things. He won’t be on the waiver for long.
Zac Veen (COL) – OF (Yahoo! – 4%)
What’s the opposite of wait-and-see? Go-and-ignore? Based on his MLB debut last season, Veen likely calls for more of the former. But at this point in the season, your fantasy team might need to opt for the latter.
Veen had an awful debut last season, posting a .424 OPS over 12 games. This season, he’s been one of the best bats in Triple-A: carrying a 1.037 OPS with 24 HR and 18 SB in 100 games. He swings a ton but doesn’t strike out often, and walks at the league-average rate.
Hot bats at Triple-A don’t automatically carry over to the majors. Jacob Gonzalez had a 1.097 OPS at Triple-A, but holds a .675 OPS in as many games against big-league pitching. He had 19 HR and 8 SB in 53 Triple-A games, yet has just 5 HR and 1 SB in 51 MLB games.
Veen could easily fizzle out like he did last year. But it’s difficult to find upgrades to your team at this point in the season, and sometimes you need to swing. If Veen proves to be a fantasy asset, you want to be first in line, not last. His performance in the minors shows that he has a high ceiling even if his floor is low. Wait-and-see takes time that you might not have. If you aren’t winning now, it’s time to go-and-ignore.
Yahoo! and ESPN Most Added Players
Yahoo!
Mitch Bratt was the first of yesterday’s streaming pitchers, and the only one who shares a first name with me and a last name with a Charli xcx album. He did his job, earning a Club classics (quality start) against the road Rockies. Now it’s time for him to do a 360 and go back to the waiver wire.
Martín Pérez delivered a six-inning shutout against the Mets. He has a 2.96 ERA this season, and lines up for a two-start week next week. He’s likely worth holding onto through then at the very least.
Ryan Weathers is the best of this crop of pitchers. The missing piece for the hard-throwing southpaw has been his control, which he’s had in spades over his last few starts. He’s a hold/add for sure.
Cody Bradford took the loss against the lowly, pitiful, miserable Angels. It was a quality start, going 7 IP with 3 ER, but just 1 K. He’s a streamer; feel free to stream him.

Tomorrow (Thursday): Walbert Ureña (MIN) (42% on Yahoo!) Ureña has been too good to put much stock in his most recent start.
