Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Picks: 5/11

Who should you target on the Waiver Wire?

Welcome to the Waiver Wire Picks, our daily fantasy baseball article that looks at the best players in baseball that you should be adding to your rosters. We’ll look at the players that are likely to be available in most leagues, as well as some deep league waiver wire options, and we’ll also look at the most added players in fantasy baseball across the major sites, and let you know which players to add and which players you can leave on the wire.

Top Priority Players to Add

Xander Bogaerts (SDP), SS (Yahoo – 62%)

Xander Bogaerts continues to look more like his prime self almost two months into the 2026 season, with two more home runs and stolen bases each over his past seven games. He’s still a player who needs to be rostered in more leagues based on the production. It’s a skill set that can be used in shallower category and points leagues, with seven home runs and five stolen bases to go along with a walk rate over 10% and a sub-17 % strikeout rate.

After only hitting 11 home runs in each of the past two seasons, Bogaerts is currently on pace to hit 29 of them this season. You’d have to go all the way back to 2019, when he was with the Boston Red Sox, to find another season where he hit that many home runs, with 33 that season. I’m not predicting he will keep up this pace, but he’s a good bet to reach 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases this season. With the rest of his skill set, that’s a highly productive player for your fantasy squads.

Ryan Waldschmidt (ARI), OF (Yahoo – 10%)

Also covered in the weekly FAAB recommendations article over the weekend, Ryan Waldschmidt is an exciting prospect for the Arizona Diamondbacks who was promoted on Friday and made his first start on Saturday. On Sunday, he flashed his upside, going 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and three RBI.  His impressive power-speed combo to go along with good plate discipline, gives him immense upside. I’d also argue that being an outfielder helps his value, as in deeper leagues, having enough impact outfielders is hard to come by. He’s been batting 9th in the Diamondbacks order so far, which could limit his ceiling, but if he continues hitting like he has, I’d expect him to move up quickly in the batting order.

Yahoo and ESPN Most Added Players

Nick Martinez continued his impressive run on Sunday for the Tampa Bay Rays against the Boston Red Sox in Fenway, allowing one earned run on seven hits and three strikeouts over 5.2 innings. He generated 1o whiffs on 80 pitches, lowering his ERA on the season to an impressive 1.70. He should continue to be productive, pitching for a good team in a good home park for pitchers at the Trop.

Kyle Leahy also pitched well on Sunday for the St. Louis Cardinals against the San Diego Padres, throwing five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and four walks while striking out five. He generated 14 whiffs on 95 pitches and pitched well in this one. He did still struggle to be efficient, but Leahy is one to keep an eye on who was in line for the win until the bullpen lost the lead with two outs in the ninth.

Eduardo Rodriguez is worth mentioning after his impressive pitching performance on Sunday against the New York Mets, where he pitched 8.1 innings and only gave up one earned run on four hits and three walks while striking out four. He’s a great option for points leagues, and after this outing, he now owns a 2.25 ERA and 1.21 WHIP over 48 innings.

Payton Tolle was on the other side of Nick Martinez on Sunday. He got the loss in this one, allowing three runs over five innings while striking out four. The line was not impressive, but he still earned 12 whiffs on 81 pitches. Two of his four starts have been dominant and showed his immense upside, so go get him anywhere he’s available. He still owns an impressive 2.78 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 22.2 innings after this start.

Robby Snelling (MIA), SP (Yahoo – 28%)

The much-anticipated debut of Robby Snelling was nothing to get too excited about, but it’s often what happens in debuts. Snelling is still the same pitcher we were all excited about, so I’m intrigued to see how he does in his next start this week against the Minnesota Twins. He still offers great upside from a starting pitcher that’s rare to find on the waiver wire, so make sure he’s not out there available in any leagues where you need pitching. With all the injuries happening to starting pitchers lately, Snelling is a good one to take a chance on.

Peter Lambert (HOU), SP (Yahoo – 14%)

Peter Lambert continued to roll even against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, throwing seven scoreless innings and earning the win. A look under the hood, and there was some batted-ball luck here, but that doesn’t take away the enthusiasm from the season Lambert has had so far. He now has a 2.42 ERA and 1.16 WHIP across 22.1 innings, and he’s sure to be a popular add this week with two starts coming against the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers. He’s been stable enough that you can let him fly this week.

Speculative Adds

Trevor McDonald (SFG), SP (Yahoo – 4%)

Last Monday, Trevor McDonald twirled a gem in his first start of the season, going seven innings, allowing only one earned run and two hits while striking out eight. The impressive start went largely unnoticed since it was just a spot start, and he was sent right back to Triple-A after this great start. Now that Logan Webb is on the IL, McDonald is back for a difficult two-step, facing the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Athletics both on the road. That’s why he’s a speculative add because I wouldn’t recommend either start, but after that, he would get the Chicago White Sox at home, and I’d love to use him there if he does make that start.
