Garcia Jr. nearly carried the Yankees to victory at home yesterday. Every ball in play was hit hard — even the outs.
Garcia started his day off with a 97.9 EV single off Ethan Pecko, but nothing would come of it. He’d later tag Pecko for another single in the third inning, registering a 92.3 EV and .400 xBA, which led to a three-run homer from Cody Bellinger to give the Yankees the lead. The Astros would fight back and jump ahead, but facing Pecko again in the fifth inning, Garcia laced a 109.5 EV / 379 FT two-run home run that put the Pinstripes back on top.
A similar situation occurred between the sixth and seventh innings — the Astros fought back, and Garcia answered with a go-ahead extra-base knock of his own. This time, LGJ smashed a 111.1 EV / .700 xBA RBI double. Unfortunately for Yankees fans, however, that wasn’t enough and the pitching staff ended up allowing four more runs on a total of fourteen hits to earn the loss. Garcia did his part and battled valiantly… he’s got 27 home runs and a 134 wRC+ this year.

Diaz is sporting just an 86 wRC+ heading into play today, but he has tallied knocks in 7 of his last 8 starts… a legit step in the right direction.
Pete Alonso (BAL): 4-4, 2B, HR, 2 R, 4 RBI.
Who else but Alonso for this team?! Unreal. The slam-dunk free agent acquisition had yet another career day at the dish yesterday, going a flawless four-for-four with multiple extra-base hits and 4 RBI. His home run off Matthew Liberatore was pretty epic, registering a 111.3 EV and traveling 435 feet — good for a bomb in all 30 ballparks and a perfect 1.000 xBA. Alonso is the only qualified first baseman to play 130+ games and have a wRC+ over 140 this season… overall, he ranks third in 1B production among qualified players this season.
Tristan Peters (CHW): 3-3, 2B, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2 BB.
Peters tallied two extra-base hits yesterday in Chicago’s 11-7 win over the Rangers, including a 103.4 EV / 380 FT shot off Peyton Gray that was gone in 30/30 ballparks, per Statcast. Peters, 26, has sort of come out of nowhere to produce for this AL Central squad, slashing .277/.342/.460 with a 125 wRC+ through nearly 400 plate appearances. The lefty has homered in four consecutive games entering play today!

Mickey Gasper (BOS): 2-2, 2 HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 BB.
Gasper launched a pair of go-ahead home runs on the road yesterday, fueling a thrilling 7-3 Red Sox win over the Marlins in extra innings. His work came in the second and sixth innings — the first bomb off Tyler Phillips, registering a 102.7 EV and traveling 394 feet, while the second came off Tyler Zuber and boasted similar results (102.1 EV / 418 FT). The 30-year-old has five homers over eight games since returning to the majors… Boston’s platoon-heavy approach to optimize matchups continues to work wonders.
Vaughn Grissom (LAA): 2-5, 2 HR, 2 R, 3 RBI.
Grissom is another under-the-radar slugger who managed to crank multiple home runs yesterday. His first-inning nuke off Gavin Williams (101.9 EV / 389 FT) and fifth-inning bomb off Logan Allen (104.9 EV / 385 FT) were his eighth and ninth home runs of the 2026 season. He’s inching closer to the pro ball career-high (14) he set between High-A and Double-A action in the Braves organization back in 2022.
Steven Kwan (CLE): 5-5, 3 R, RBI, BB.
Kwan tallied not one, not two, but FIVE singles against the Angels yesterday. Here’s a look at all of them via Statcast:

Francisco Lindor (NYM): 2-4, HR, 2 R, RBI, BB.
Lindor, whom some, including myself, thought would’ve been dealt at this year’s trade deadline, played a major role in New York’s masterful victory against the Brewers at home yesterday. He launched a 104.8 EV / 400 FT home run off Kyle Harrison in the fifth inning, and ended up scoring the game-winning run after reaching base in the bottom of the ninth with an 84.3 EV single. Oh, and he also made a game-saving catch at the top of the inning with the bases loaded, robbing Garrett Mitchell of (at minimum) a two-run single.
