Schwar Games
Even though Kyle Schwarber often seems like a machine at the plate, he is in fact human, as evidenced by his home run drought stretching back to July 18th. That drought ended in a big way on Sunday, as the four-time All-Star went 2-3 with 2 HRs, 2 R, 4 RBI, 3 BBs and a SB in the Phillies’ 7-6 12-inning win over the Blue Jays. Schwarber got the scoring started with a three-run blast in the third inning and added a 448-foot moon blast in the bottom of the fifth. Toronto came to their senses and conceded three walks to Schwarber the rest of the game, including two intentionally. With his two homers, Schwarber returned to a tie atop the HR leaderboard with Yordan Alvarez, and his .369 OBP is his best mark since 2021. There is not much left to be said about Schwarber these days, for even as he progresses into his mid-30’s he continues to be one of the most feared power hitters in the game and a premier run producer.

Keibert Ruiz (WSH): 3-3, R, RBI, BB.
Keibert Ruiz was perfect at the plate in the Nationals 7-1 drubbing of the Reds, knocking three singles and working a walk. The 27-year old backstop is having a very nice season in a surprisingly dangerous Washington lineup, putting up career highs in batting average (.279), slugging (.446) and wRC+ (106).
Bo Bichette (NYM): 5-5, 2 2B, 3 R, 3 RBI, BB.
Bo Bichette also put up a perfect day at the plate, getting on-base six times with three runs and three RBI as the Mets throttled Pittsburgh 11-1. Bichette has had a hard time getting it going at the plate in his first season in New York, but he is hitting .328/.343/.438 over his last 15 games.
Luis Robert Jr. (NYM): 2-5, HR, R, 4 RBI.
The other big offensive offseason addition for the Mets, Luis Robert Jr. has also struggled to get things going at the plate in 2026, largely thanks to nagging injuries. The 29-year-old outfielder hit a two-run HR in the third off Jared Jones in the win. New York decided to hang on to Robert at the trade deadline and are hoping he can return to his 2023 form, when he hit 38 HRs and stole 20 bases for the White Sox.
Griffin Conine (MIA): 2-4, 2 HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, BB.
The upstart Miami Marlins dominated the Angels to the tune of 12-3, thanks to a two-HR game from Griffin Conine. The son of Marlins legend Jeff Conine, the 29-year-old has put together a bit of a breakout season for Miami, mashing 12 HRs in just 147 at-bats, and his 142 wRC+ ranks 16th (right behind Kyle Schwarber) in the Majors among hitters with at least 160 plate appearances.
Ian Happ (CHC): 3-5, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI.
Ian Happ collected three hits, including a two-run HR, and the Cubs rolled to a 10-2 victory over the Royals on Sunday. The home run was Happ’s 20th of the season and he has now reached that mark in four consecutive seasons for Chicago.
Jake Bauers (MIL): 2-3, HR, R, 2 RBI, 2 BB.
Jake Bauers continued his breakout season for the Brewers with his 21st HR and the game-winning RBI single in the tenth as Milwaukee snuck out a 4-3 win over Minnesota. Not even a fractured toe in late July and an abdominal injury in early August could slow down the 30-year old lefty, who has smashed all of his previous career-highs hitting .271/.376/.506 for the NL-leading Brewers.
Brett Sullivan (COL): 2-3, HR, R, 2 RBI, BB.
You will often find a certain Rockies catcher on this list, but for once it is not Hunter Goodman. Backup backstop Brett Sullivan reached base three times and hit a two-run HR in the sixth inning, but Colorado fell to the Cardinals 7-4.
JJ Wetherholt (STL): 2-3, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 BB.
JJ Wetherholt put aside his recent struggles and reached base four times in the St. Louis victory, which brought the team back to the .500 mark. While it has certainly been a successful rookie season for the former seventh overall pick, he has hit just .198/.326/.306 over his last 30 games, although he is walking more than he has struck out over that stretch.
Pete Alonso (BAL): 3-3, 2 HR, 3 R, 4 RBI, 2 BB.
Pete Alonso put on an absolute show in Texas on Sunday, reaching base in all five at-bats and mashing two HRs in Baltimore’s 10-5 victory. Alonso’s power output is down a bit from last season, but it is fair to wonder what kind of numbers he would be putting up if he had a better lineup around him.
Fernando Tatis Jr. (SD): 2-5, HR, R, 3 RBI.
With the Padres down 2-1 to Houston on Sunday Night Baseball, Fernando Tatis Jr. smashed a 421-foot, three-run HR to propel San Diego to a 7-2 victory. The power drought for the 27-year-old superstar has been significant in 2026, but he has turned it on over the last month, hitting .292/.380/.525 with six HRs and 21 RBI over his last 30 games.
