Welcome to the RP Roundup, my daily fantasy baseball article reviewing every reliever performance from the previous day.
STL 4 – NYM 5
| St. Louis Cardinals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Justin Bruihl | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
| George Soriano | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
| JoJo Romero – L (2) | 1.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 39% CSW |
| Gordon Graceffo | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- JoJo Romero left a sweeper up to Soto here, and that may have been his only mistake, but it was a costly one. He’s been getting hit around a bit the past month (4.22 ERA, 1.41 WHIP), but he’s still missing bats at a high rate (32% CSW), and the underlying numbers mostly suggest things will turn around.
| New York Mets | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A.J. Minter | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| Brooks Raley – W (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Luke Weaver – HLD (8) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Devin Williams – SV (9) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 44% CSW |
- This was the vision when the Mets built this bullpen, having these four guys finish games, and they did so here, allowing just one baserunner over 4.1 innings. Devin Williams looked great, but how bout the fact Luke Weaver hasn’t allowed a run since May started? He’s throwing harder than he ever has (96.6 MPH here), although something to keep an eye on is his cutter (and changeup), which hasn’t been as good since he started throwing harder.
MIN 0 – DET 11
| Minnesota Twins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cody Laweryson | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Alex Jackson | 1.0 IP | 3 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 13% CSW |
- Alex Jackson averaged a cool 52.6 MPH on the 15 “pitches” he threw here.
| Detroit Tigers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tyler Holton | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 7 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Beau Brieske | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
- Tyler Holton with seven whiffs here, I think that’s more matchup-based than anything Holton was doing differently.
ARI 0 – MIA 2
| Arizona Diamondbacks | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brandyn Garcia | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 47% CSW |
| Paul Sewald | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
- Brandyn Garcia’s velocity was down, and the command was sketchy, but hey, we’ll take these results, especially after his last outing. He had been getting hold chances lately, but with Puk returning soon, that could change.
| Miami Marlins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Michael Petersen – HLD (9) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Anthony Bender – HLD (7) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 3 K | 3 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
| Calvin Faucher – HLD (6) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 54% CSW |
| Pete Fairbanks – SV (8) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 46% CSW |
- Great outing from Pete Fairbanks, but the slider not being a weapon for him anymore worries me still. The cutter was good here at least, and he commanded his four-seamer well, but I want more from the slider.
TEX 4 – KCR 2
| Texas Rangers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Robby Ahlstrom | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Cole Winn – HLD (6) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Jacob Latz – W (2) | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 2 Whiffs | 60% CSW |
- Jacob Latz needed just 15 pitches (14 of which were strikes) to get six outs against the middle of the Royals lineup. He’s been dominant since mid-April (1.77 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, 33% K rate over past 20 IP), with just one outlier outing (5/13 vs. ARI) bringing down those numbers. That also happens to be when he started averaging 95+ MPH with his fastball. He should be an All-Star this summer.
| Kansas City Royals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Beck Way | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 4 K | 3 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
- Beck Way does have an intriguing cutter/sweeper combo and can get his fastball up to 98 MPH. The command has been better at AAA this season, but he does tend to get hit hard.
CHC 9 – COL 3
| Chicago Cubs | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hoby Milner | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Phil Maton – HLD (5) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Ryan Rolison | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Tyler Ferguson | 1.1 IP | 1 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 4 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
- Ryan Rolison was throwing a MPH harder here, making his fastball more palatable. If he can stay in the 95+ MPH range with his breakers, he may have a chance to keep those ratios where they currently stand. The Cubs bullpen has not been great for fantasy purposes, but I’d imagine Rolison will eventually get a hold this year.
| Colorado Rockies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blas Castano | 2.2 IP | 2 ER | 5 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Sammy Peralta | 2.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 5 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
- Blegh
LAD 8 – PIT 6
| Los Angeles Dodgers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Will Klein | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Alex Vesia – HLD (10) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 75% CSW |
| Jack Dreyer – W (3) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 45% CSW |
| Edgardo Henriquez | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 7% CSW |
| Tanner Scott – SV (7) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 5 Whiffs | 44% CSW |
- Edgardo Henriquez had his first hiccup in a while here, as he gave up a triple on his cutter, and back-to-back bloop doubles on a curveball and 0-0 sinker. With his fastball and slider, I’m just not sure we need that cutter and curveball? I think the cutter is fine now and then to combat lefties (even here, it wasn’t a terrible pitch), and he has reduced its usage, so that’s trending in the right direction, but that curveball probably isn’t needed at all. His true breakout still feels imminent.
- Those who were worried about Tanner Scott’s recent outings, hopefully this helps quell any concerns.

| Pittsburgh Pirates | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yohan Ramírez | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Evan Sisk | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 16% CSW |
| Brandan Bidois | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 34% CSW |
| Dennis Santana | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 6% CSW |
- Evan Sisk had allowed just one earned run since the start of May, but doubled that total here as he allowed a walk to Call, a ground ball double down the left field line to Rushing, before lefty killer Espinal singled off him.
SEA 5 – BAL 7
| Seattle Mariners | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alex Hoppe | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Nick Davila | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
- Alex Hoppe had no fastball command here, but the stuff is still up at least. This bullpen is one more injury away from needing him in high-leverage spots.
| Baltimore Orioles | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tyler Wells – W (1) | 3.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 4 K | 9 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Rico Garcia – HLD (9) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| Grant Wolfram – HLD (7) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
| Andrew Kittredge – SV (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- Andrew Kittredge got the ninth here (and the top of the order) and was throwing harder as a result (#SaveChanceEnergy), although it did not result in any whiffs. With Helsley returning soon (next week?), maybe the Orioles were trying to get Rico Garcia acclimated to the 8th inning again?
