Weather Impact

They moved the MIN@DET game up to avoid the rain, but there is still a chance they get some showers mid-game. TEX@NYY and NYM@PHI are in danger of lengthy delays and I’d be a little cautious rostering some players there. A few other games with a small chance of a delay but I wouldn’t be concerned about those games not getting played for DFS purposes.

Pitching

There are a litany of intriguing pitching matchups scattered across today’s slate and I am here for all of it. We start with the game that was moved up to avoid the rain because Bailey Ober has my attention against the Tigers. Ober has pitched a quality start in three of his last four outings and came very close in that fourth outing at Tampa Bay. The Tigers offense isn’t anything too impressive and you could get an excellent outing out of Ober at a good price.

Yusei Kikuchi has very quietly been a solid pitcher over the last month as he hasn’t allowed more than two ERs in a start since May 24th. His run culminated with his last outing at Miami, where he threw six shutout innings, allowing just two hits with six strikeouts. An even better matchup awaits him Sunday with Oakland coming into town, so I’m rolling with him again.

Corbin Burnes might be interesting to some against the Guardians, but I’m not getting fooled again by him. Instead I would pivot to Tyler Glasnow against the Royals and their 24.2 K%. Glasnow has at least six Ks in every start and that’s even with some shaky outings. He has a lot of upside in this matchup so jump on board before his price skyrockets.

Finally, the play of the day has to be Eury Pérez against the woeful Pirates. Pérez is coming off back to back outings of six shutout innings with 15 Ks combined in the two starts. Pittsburgh has been the worst offense in baseball over the last two weeks with a 55 wRC+. Pérez will be popular, but for good reason. I don’t hate his counterpart, Johan Oviedo, either. He has allowed more than three ERs in just one of his last eight starts and has some strikeout potential against a Marlins lineup that isn’t particularly dangerous outside of Luis Arraez.

Hitting

With all of the quality cheap options on the slate today it shouldn’t be too hard to fit an Atlanta Braves stack into your lineup, which is always the move. Only the mighty Braves lineup had enough firepower to defeat the vaunted Reds and their 12-game win streak. Atlanta is averaging 8.2 runs per game in their last 10 and triple-slashing .308/.373/.569 as a team over the last two weeks. Poor Levi Stoudt is getting thrust onto the mound for Cincinnati and I’ll be damned if I don’t find a way to get the entire Atlanta offense in my DFS lineup.
