Welcome to the RP Roundup, my daily fantasy baseball article reviewing every reliever performance from the previous day.
LAA 2 – CLE 7
| Los Angeles Angels | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jose Fermin | 0.2 IP | 3 ER | 1 H | 3 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Kirby Yates | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Alek Manoah | 5.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 5 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
- Kirby Yates got in early on this bullpen game and yeah…he does not look great. The velocity was at 89.5 MPH here, and I could see him not being on the roster by the end of the month.
| Cleveland Guardians | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Matt Festa | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 5 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Colin Holderman | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 3 K | 7 Whiffs | 41% CSW |
| Peyton Pallette | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
- Colin Holderman’s sweeper was doing work in this one, and he was able to locate his fastball just enough to limit the walks. The command has been volatile so far, but the results have been awesome, so he’s worth keeping an eye on.
NYY 2 – BAL 3
| New York Yankees | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brent Headrick – L (1) | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Camilo Doval | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
- Doval’s velo was great in this one (99 MPH with the “cutter” and 98 MPH with the sinker), and he got these results without needing to throw his slider at all. He remains super volatile, but it’s hard to give up on that kind of velocity.
| Baltimore Orioles | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dietrich Enns – W (1) | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Rico Garcia – HLD (7) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 67% CSW |
| Anthony Nunez – SV (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 45% CSW |
- Rico Garcia got the eighth inning here to combat the Yankees 2-4 hitters and did so in style with two strikeouts in his clean inning of work. That left Anthony Nunez for the ninth inning, and while he did pick up the save, it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. A flyball to the wall from McMahon that would have been a HR in Yankee Stadium (and four other ballparks) was the second out, before allowing a single to Goldschmidt, who was pinch-run for by Cabalerro, who was thrown out trying to steal second to end the game. It’s been very rocky for Nunez lately, and we also saw a decrease in velocity tonight (down 1 MPH).
TBR 8 – TOR 5
| Tampa Bay Rays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ian Seymour | 0.1 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Hunter Bigge – HLD (5) | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Bryan Baker – SV (11) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 45% CSW |
- Hunter Bigge hasn’t joined the changeup craze like the rest of the Rays pitching staff, but he is throwing a splitter now (basically the same thing). The command is clearly a work in progress, but it should help give him three potential plus pitches in that arsenal.
| Toronto Blue Jays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mason Fluharty | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Braydon Fisher | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Joe Mantiply | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| Yariel Rodriguez | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 45% CSW |
- Yariel Rodriguez made his 2026 debut here and looked fine. The offspeed offerings can be pretty good (splitter/slider), the fastball still doesn’t do much for me, but maybe if he leans into the sinker more, that would help.
ARI 1 – TEX 0
| Arizona Diamondbacks | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brandyn Garcia – HLD (1) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 71% CSW |
| Taylor Clarke – HLD (8) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Paul Sewald – SV (9) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
- Taylor Clarke has one of the lowest walk rates among qualified relievers right now at 2.8%, which shouldn’t be surprising, given that he finished 4th last year with a 4.4% walk rate (and 3rd in WHIP at 0.85). The command has always been there for Clarke, even with subpar stuff, he is constantly around the zone, and that’s why you see him in a setup role now for the Diamondbacks. He’s a great guy to pair with an Aaron Ashby-type in 5×5 SV+HLD rather than save-only leagues.
| Texas Rangers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jalen Beeks | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
| Peyton Gray | 2.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Cole Winn | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Tyler Alexander | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 41% CSW |
- Jakob Junis started this game, and Cole Winn entered in the seventh down a run, but I think these two are still the “setup” guys in front of Jacob Latz, right? Junis was always a low upside play anyway, but Winn has been a bit disappointing lately. He hasn’t picked up a hold since April 17th, and over that stretch holds a 7.11 ERA and 1.74 WHIP. The good news there is that the K rate (25.8%) and SwStr rate (16.5%) remain well above average.
SEA 3 – HOU 1
| Seattle Mariners | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nick Davila – HLD (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Cooper Criswell – HLD (3) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Eduard Bazardo – HLD (7) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 3 K | 5 Whiffs | 59% CSW |
| Andrés Muñoz – SV (8) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
- This outing was ultimately fine from Andrés Muñoz, but it’s weird to see him have to rely on his fastball here, as he could not command his slider. He’s only had two clean outings going back to his past 12 IP, and while we may continue to experience some WHIP turbulence, there’s nothing exactly alarming in the profile yet. You just may not get the dominance you were hoping for by taking him in the top 50.
| Houston Astros | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steven Okert | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 5 Whiffs | 58% CSW |
| Bryan King | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
- Steven Okert just went slider only in this one, throwing 12 straight and dominating, as his slider is one of the best out there. He can’t do this every time out, but I’m fine with the 70/30 split he has been going with so far. vs. King
SFG 9 – LAD 3
| San Francisco Giants | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Matt Gage – W (3) | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Keaton Winn – HLD (9) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| JT Brubaker | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- Keaton Winn worked the eighth up three runs here, and while he didn’t have his best stuff, the command got him through the outing. The most interesting takeaway here was that Caleb Kilian was warming up before the Giants tacked on three runs in the top of the ninth, so he does appear to be the de facto closer here.
| Los Angeles Dodgers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blake Treinen | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Alex Vesia – L (1) | 0.1 IP | 3 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
| Will Klein | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Jack Dreyer | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 13% CSW |
| Wyatt Mills | 1.0 IP | 3 ER | 1 H | 4 BB | 0 K | 4 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
- Alex Vesia had some terrible fastball command in this one, either missing the plate or leaving pitches middle-middle or middle-down. Just a bad outing, but we can also be frustrated with Vesia’s usage patterns recently, as his last hold was April 10th.
