Welcome to the RP Roundup, my daily fantasy baseball article reviewing every reliever performance from the previous day.
SDP 5 – ATL 6
| San Diego Padres | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Griffin Canning – L (9) | 2.2 IP | 4 ER | 5 H | 0 BB | 4 K | 7 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
| Yuki Matsui | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 41% CSW |
| Matt Waldron | 2.0 IP | 1 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 13% CSW |
| Bradgley Rodriguez | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- It sounds like there is a real possibility that Mason Miller will be dealt next week, so maybe it’s time to stash Bradgley Rodriguez? I’d imagine a Miller trade also means Adrian Morejon is on the table since he’s a pending free agent and could get them a huge return. Jason Adam is hurt (and also a pending free agent), but why not trade him for whatever you can get as well? So that leaves Bradgley, Jeremiah Estrada (rehabbing right now), and maybe Yuki Matsui vying for the closer role. IF Estrada is healthy and his normal self, he 100% should be the closer moving forward. He just hasn’t been that guy this year, though.
| Atlanta Braves | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dylan Dodd – HLD (6) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 13% CSW |
| Tyler Kinley – HLD (11) | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Danny Young – HLD (4) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Raisel Iglesias – SV (21) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 41% CSW |
- Raisel Iglesias’s fastball got hit around here, but he was ultimately able to bookend strikeouts vs. Song and Rengifo (yawn) to finish this game off. Iglesias is still hanging in there, but the wheels may be getting loose here.
MIN 3 – CLE 1
| Minnesota Twins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Andrew Morris | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| Yoendrys Gómez | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
| Tommy Nance | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Taylor Rogers – W (5) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Jack Anderson – SV (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 6 Whiffs | 39% CSW |
- Jack Anderson’s fastball was up 2.6 MPH here (#SaveChanceEnergy) as he was sitting 93.3 MPH, and if he can find a way to live in this 93 MPH range with this iVB (nearly 19″), there may be something here.
| Cleveland Guardians | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hunter Gaddis – HLD (20) | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Cade Smith – BS (4) | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
| Colin Holderman | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Erik Sabrowski – L (2) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- Erik Sabrowski was done in by some bad luck and poor execution, but it’s still not what you want to see as he tries to get back into a leverage role for the Guardians. The stuff still looks great; just need to lock in on the command.
TBR 1 – TOR 3
| Tampa Bay Rays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Casey Legumina | 2.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
- Casey Legumina opened this one and looked OK. He should continue to be a fine long relief/opener type for the Rays.
| Toronto Blue Jays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tyler Rogers – HLD (21) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 56% CSW |
| Louis Varland – SV (21) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- Louis Varland is the definition of a workhorse reliever, as the stuff has been getting better as the year goes on despite a high workload over the past year.
ARI 10 – STL 6
| Arizona Diamondbacks | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brandyn Garcia – HLD (12) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Taylor Clarke | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Ryan Thompson | 1.0 IP | 4 ER | 5 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
- Brandyn Garcia continues to be slept on. He’s moving closer and closer to being a must-roster in holds leagues.
| St. Louis Cardinals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Justin Bruihl | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Matt Svanson | 0.2 IP | 3 ER | 4 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| Gordon Graceffo | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
- Blegh.
KCR 3 – DET 4
| Kansas City Royals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Matt Strahm – HLD (13) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| John Schreiber – BS (2) | 1.0 IP | 3 ER | 4 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 15% CSW |
| Steven Cruz – L (3) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
- Steven Cruz left a couple of cutters over the middle of the plate here and…why exactly are we throwing it this much? The slider isn’t great either, I suppose. Cruz really needs to find a secondary to pair with his plus fastball to be able to take that next step forward.
| Detroit Tigers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tyler Holton | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Jacob Waguespack | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
| Drew Anderson – W (4) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 39% CSW |
| Drew Sommers – HLD (6) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Kyle Finnegan – SV (2) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
- Kyle Finnegan came in to bail out Sommers here, and needed just two pitches to get a double play to end the game. Quick and easy vulture save for those following the RP Streamers series.
