The Fantasy Baseball Stream Team: Week 4

Fellow Angels, Oswald Peraza and Reid Detmers lead the Stream Team

We are officially three weeks into the season, and if your fantasy rotation and lineup feels like it’s held together by duct tape and hope, you aren’t alone. By now, the “draft day narratives” are fading, and real-time data is finally giving us something to work with. Whether you are chasing bumps in specific categories or trying to navigate a spot start streamer for your points league, the goal remains the same: find value where your league-mates aren’t looking. I’ve been scouring the Pitcher List player stat cards to translate raw performances into fantasy value, and using Statcast metrics to cut through the noise and highlight the players who deserve a spot on your roster. Let’s dive into the Week 4 Stream Team.

As always, to qualify for the Stream Team, we are looking for impactful contributors who are available.

The Criteria

  • Availability: Every featured player is rostered in fewer than 45% of Yahoo and ESPN leagues.
  • The Goal: Identifying high-upside plays for managers who need to replace struggling starters and injured players at specific positions.

The Stream Team

SP – Reid Detmers, Los Angeles AngelsIf you haven’t checked the Pitcher List stat cards lately, check out Reid Detmers‘ card, and you’ll see a “Detmers Renaissance.” His last start in the Bronx was nothing short of a masterpiece, earning a Box Score Grade of A. In a world of fantasy streaming, we often chase results, but with Detmers, the underlying process is what excites me.

He didn’t just get lucky against a tough Yankees lineup; he dominated them with a profile that finally matches the high-ceiling potential we’ve been waiting for. For the first time this season, we saw a “B” grade in both Stuff and location, and it came against a powerhouse Yankees lineup. His B grade in Stuff shows his Slider and heater are physically overmatching hitters. The engine behind the nine strikeouts, but the B in location is ultimately the game-changer. Historically, Detmers has had the Stuff but lacks command. He was hitting his spots relative to the hitter’s strike zone, which is why he didn’t walk a single Yankee. The B+ in PLV suggests that almost every pitch he threw was a high-value asset. If an “A-Grade” version of Detmers shows up with a decent walk rate in his start against the Kansas City Royals on 4/25, you could be in for the long haul with this acquisition, as he is currently rostered in 35% of Yahoo leagues and around 20% in ESPN formats.

RP – Enyel De Los Santos, Houston Astros – At this point in the season, you’re looking for the epicenters of bullpen chaos to get your hands on saves and holds. The Houston Astros are currently navigating a perfect storm of disaster: superstar closer Josh Hader was just transferred to the 60-day IL (biceps), and the presumptive “next man up”, Bryan Abreu, had struggled mightily with his command to start the year. With Hader out until late May, manager Joe Espada has proven he will go with the “hot hand.” Right now, De Los Santos is a mandatory addition in saves and holds leagues.

Unlike the struggling arms in the Houston pen, Enyel has found the sweet spot. His slider (35% usage) and four-seamer (37% usage) are generating a 13% swinging-strike rate. He’s missing bats, which is a lethal combination for a closer. Racking up strikeouts, outs, and saves makes him a must-add in points and category leagues. In his most recent performances, he was virtually untouchable, sporting a 1.35 ERA and a tiny 0.75 WHIP over six innings and two outs. He’s hitting the zone (4% walk rate) while everyone else is walking the house. He is currently wide open, rostered in 12% of Yahoo leagues and 2% of ESPN leagues.

C – Moisés Ballesteros, Chicago Cubs Last week, the “Big Balley” was on a tear. After a quiet 3-for-20 start to the year, he hit .600 over his next 20 plate appearances with just a single strikeout. His underlying data cancels out the typical speculation that it’s time for regression with this 20-year-old. His 59.4% hard-hit rate towers over the MLB average at 37%; his contact is a great asset for fantasy, but his most important change from last year was knocking his ground-ball rate from a hefty 60%. So far, he’s chopped that down to 37.5%. His 15.6% barrel rate is nearly double the league average.

The only thing holding Ballesteros back is a crowded Cubs lineup, but manager Craig Counsell is finding it impossible to bench a guy with a 355 wRC+ over his stretch, and the same goes for your fantasy roster. He has some tough matchups coming up versus the Philadelphia Phillies and the Los Angeles Dodgers, but his 97th percentile hard-hit rate could punish these pitching rotations. He is currently rostered in 13% of Yahoo leagues and 5% in ESPN leagues.

1B – Jake Burger, Texas RangersThis power surge for Jake Burger has officially flipped the switch for him in 2026. He’s found a home in the heart of the Rangers’ lineup, and the early returns are high. Over his last five games, he is hitting .400 (8-for-20) with three homers and 10 RBI. He is consistently punishing the baseball, which is why his slugging percentage has surged back over .500.

The caveat with Burger remains the same: the strikeout rate is 28.6%, and the chase rate is 40.5%, which is still high and frustrating for points leagues, but the power production far outweighs the risk if your team can withstand that. He’s lined up with some favorable road matchups, including a “get rich” series against the Athletics and a tougher pitching test in Seattle. He’s hitting the ball hard enough to overcome the pitcher-friendly dimensions in Seattle. He is currently rostered in 26% of Yahoo leagues and 13% of ESPN leagues.

2B – Oswald Peraza, Los Angeles Angels – Our second Angel and weekly “Swiss Army Knife” on this week’s Stream Team is Oswald Peraza. Peraza sports eligibility at 1B, 2B, 3B, and SS, and it’s absolute gold for injuries in fantasy. He is currently slashing .286/.365/.554 through the first 19 games. He has evolved into a well-rounded fantasy asset, coming far from the speed-only player he was on the Yankees.

He has hit four home runs, with his most recent one being off ace Max Fried, posting a 99.8 MPH exit velo. He remains a speed demon with three stolen bases and sits in the 91st percentile in sprint speed. With six walks in 56 at-bats, his .365 OBP is the reason he’s staying at the top of the Angels’ lineup and forcing pitchers to come at him with a .919 OPS. Currently rostered in 13% of Yahoo leagues and 5% of ESPN leagues, he’s the perfect plug-and-play anywhere streamer for this week’s lineup.

3B – Daniel Schneemann, Cleveland GuardiansAt the hot corner for the Stream Team is Daniel Schneemann. He spent last week doing everything for the Guardians, but drive the team bus. The “Schnee-Man” just punctuated an incredible performance with a pinch-hit grand slam against the Orioles on April 17th, and he doesn’t look like he is going to slow down. In the world of the Stream Team, I value flexibility. I don’t like to force these rare four-position-eligible players as suggestions because they’re usually known for their gloves, which are worthless in our case. Still, when they’re hitting and can slot anywhere in your lineup, it’s a lethal combination. He is eligible to play 2B, 3B, SS, and OF. It maximizes your games played; you don’t lose four at-bats for the day when you can slot a player anywhere, which can make a difference in a league where you are tight on categories.

The power surge has been real, with two homers and 11 RBI in his first 16 games, slugging .563, and a .313 AVG, suggesting he is seeing the ball well. He is rostered in 7% of Yahoo leagues and 4% in ESPN leagues.

SS – Xander Bogaerts, San Diego PadresThe veteran presence you’re looking for in Week 4 is Xander Bogaerts. The most elite stat in his profile right now is his strikeout rate, ranking in the lowest percentiles league-wide. He just isn’t striking out. In fantasy, a low strikeout rate means a higher batting average floor and more opportunities for counting stats. His expected batting average is actually higher than his actual average. This tells us he’s been slightly unlucky, and a positive regression is likely, with a .283 xAVG versus .291. His Ideal Plate Appearance percentage is elite. Consistently making contact that results in productive outcomes, proving that his veteran bat speed and barrel control haven’t gone anywhere.

The reason Bogaerts should be a must-start in Week 4 is that he is playing strictly because of where he is playing. He takes a favorite trip to Coors Field, where his 98.1% contact rate will pair well with the thin air. He then heads to Mexico City to play at Estadio Alfredo Harp Helu. Much like Coors, this high-altitude park is notorious for being an offensive launchpad. He is more rostered than some of the guys on the Stream Team: 38% in Yahoo leagues and 22% in ESPN leagues.

OF – Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Arizona DiamondbacksThe Diamondbacks have a surprise for you, and it’s Lourdes Gurriel Jr.’s return to left field. Less than eight months after a full ACL reconstruction, Gurriel was activated this week and immediately slotted back into the outfield. While he went 0-for-4 in his debut against the Toronto Blue Jays, he looked healthy. For fantasy managers, this is a rare opportunity to pick up a proven bat that produces runs. Before the injury, he had driven in 80 runs in each of the last three seasons. He is also a career .274 hitter, which is hard to find on the wire. He’s batting cleanup or fifth in a lineup that features Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte; the RBI opportunities are going to flourish.

Because he didn’t have a typical Cactus League spring training, expect some “rust” in his first few games. However, he is already playing the field (not just DHing), which signals that the Diamondbacks have confidence that he can make an immediate impact in the lineup—currently rostered in 4% of Yahoo leagues and 3% in ESPN leagues.

OF – Luke Raley, Seattle MarinersLuke Raley has been a counting stat machine, highlighted by a massive 4-for-5 day against the Padres and a home run against the Rangers on 4/18. As he finds himself on the Stream Team for a second time, it’s time to separate the “real” from the “mirage.” Raley’s BABIP is currently hovering around .500. For context, the league’s average sits around .300. This tells us he is getting an incredible amount of luck on balls that find holes. Although this shows signs of regression, his power has been consistent. He has sat in the 90th percentile for Max Exit Velocity. His homer against the Padres came off the bat at 113.2 MPH. In fantasy baseball, we don’t really care if it’s luck or not. Yes, Raley may be more of a streamer than a long-term investment, but a “hot hand” is a “hot hand,” and we don’t shy away from production.

He is rostered in 23% of Yahoo leagues and 11% of ESPN leagues. He has a couple of favorable matchups in Week 4, seeing a weak pitching staff of the Athletics, followed by a great opportunity for counting stats against the St. Louis Cardinals, and another road series against the Minnesota Twins.
