Welcome to the RP Roundup, my daily fantasy baseball article reviewing every reliever performance from the previous day.
DET 10 – TBR 9
| Detroit Tigers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tyler Holton – W (1) | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Brenan Hanifee | 0.0 IP | 3 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Drew Sommers – HLD (1) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 11% CSW |
| Kyle Finnegan – HLD (7) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Beau Brieske | 0.1 IP | 3 ER | 0 H | 3 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 16% CSW |
| Will Vest – SV (1) | 1.2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
- The Kyle Finnegan line looks good, but the command was still a mess as he only landed 3 of his 19 pitches in the zone here. The fastball did look good here despite the lack of strikes.
- Will Vest grinded here to get a five-out save, and while things started off shaky, he finished strong and looked great in the ninth inning. The eighth was tough as he came in with teh bases loaded and got a ground ball that could have ended the inning, but it went under Keith’s glove for a “double”. Williamson then hit a “single” off of Torkelson’s glove before Vest got a groundball right to the second baseman for an inning-ending double play…that was, of course, booted by Lee at 2B. Despite his infield defense trying to sabotage the game, Vest still bore down and secured the victory. He should be considered the favorite for saves without Jansen available.
| Tampa Bay Rays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trevor Martin | 3.0 IP | 2 ER | 4 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Cole Sulser | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Garrett Cleavinger | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- Garrett Cleavinger doesn’t have his best velocity still, so he just leaned into his slider here, throwing 12 of them in this 21-pitch outing. This was against strictly right-handed hitters as well.
MIA 7 – WSN 3
| Miami Marlins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Michael Petersen – HLD (6) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Pete Fairbanks | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 46% CSW |
- Pete Fairbanks got robbed of a save chance (thanks Henry), but it’s still nice to see this line from him after some recent struggles. He leaned on the cutter here, but the command wasn’t exactly great. I get the love for the cutter, but I’d also like to see him get that slider going again, as it’s not the same pitch it’s been in the past.
| Washington Nationals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Richard Lovelady – L (3) | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Paxton Schultz | 2.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
| Cole Henry | 1.0 IP | 3 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
- Richard Lovelady getting the sixth inning a week after getting save chances is peak Nationals bullpen management, as they will keep you on your toes, but this is also a reminder that Lovelady was never a serious fantasy option.
KCR 9 – CIN 2
| Kansas City Royals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| John Schreiber | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Alex Lange | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 67% CSW |
| Mason Black | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Eli Morgan | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 3 K | 6 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
- Alex Lange flashed three plus pitches here, almost like a return to 2022, but forgive me if I’m skeptical about how sustainable this may be. The velocity has been trending the right way, though, so in a bullpen lacking upside, Lange is at least back on the radar.
| Cincinnati Reds | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Caleb Ferguson | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
| Brandon Leibrandt | 6.0 IP | 5 ER | 10 H | 3 BB | 3 K | 11 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
- Caleb Ferguson’s velocity is still under 92 MPH (he’s been 94-95 MPH for his career), so I don’t think we can take him too seriously right now, despite how underwhelming this bullpen is at the moment.
CHW 6 – MIN 9
| Chicago White Sox | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tyler Davis | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Brandon Eisert | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| Trevor Richards | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
- I still like what I see with Tyler Davis, but there will be some growing pains, and he’s not a must-roster yet. But the fastball/slider is legit.
| Minnesota Twins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kody Funderburk | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Yoendrys Gómez | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Travis Adams | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
- Yoendrys Gómez’s usage recently has been disappointing, and I’m sure the Twins will give Justin Lawrence the next save chance and whoever else they need to give one save to.
SFG 2 – MIL 16
| San Francisco Giants | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wilkin Ramos | 2.0 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 5 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
| Matt Gage | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| Buddy Kennedy | 1.0 IP | 4 ER | 4 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 13% CSW |
- Wilkin Ramos made his debut, and while the curveball is pretty good (the fastball is decent), the command could be an issue.
| Milwaukee Brewers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chad Patrick – W (3) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| DL Hall | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 3 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Grant Anderson | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
| Jake Woodford | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
- I think an interesting “rotation” option for the Brewers moving forward could be piggybacking Shane Drohan and Chad Patrick. I’m not really sure what Patrick’s role is right now, as he threw 61 pitches his last time out but just 16 here.
TEX 2 – STL 1
| Texas Rangers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peyton Gray – HLD (2) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 54% CSW |
| Tyler Alexander – HLD (6) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
| Jakob Junis – HLD (6) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Jacob Latz – SV (8) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 44% CSW |
- Jacob Latz is back (not that he ever left), throwing in the mid-95 MPH range here and spotting his slider beautifully. We just need the Rangers to provide more save chances.
| St. Louis Cardinals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Justin Bruihl | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| Ryne Stanek | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| George Soriano | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 53% CSW |
- Has Ryne Stanek’s command turned the corner yet? Not quite. He’s been much better over the past month (1.69 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 30% K), but I’m hesitant to trust it.
COL 9 – LAA 8
| Colorado Rockies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Seth Halvorsen | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Jaden Hill – HLD (10) | 0.1 IP | 2 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| Antonio Senzatela – W (5) | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
- Antonio Senzatela was charged with a blown save but ended up picking up the win regardless. His ratios have been solid over the past month (2.16 ERA, 1.14 WHIP), but the warning signs are glaring (5.10 SIERA, 3% K-BB, 26% CSW). It’s cool he’s throwing 98+ MPH, though, and I’m sure another team could get even more out of him.
| Los Angeles Angels | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chase Silseth | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Ryan Zeferjahn – HLD (5) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Jose Fermin – BS (1) | 0.2 IP | 5 ER | 4 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 7 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Brent Suter | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
| Kirby Yates – L (1) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 10% CSW |
- Kirby Yates over Sam Bachman is some sort of serious malpractice, brought to you by the same team that opened the year with Jordan Romano in the closer role. Every ball was hit well in this outing, and it’s clear that Yates just doesn’t have anything left in the tank.
LAD 1 – ARI 4
| Los Angeles Dodgers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alex Vesia | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 44% CSW |
| Jack Dreyer | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
- Jack Dreyer looked better in his first game back than this line shows (bunt hit followed by a Marte HR, who’s taking every lefty deep these days) as the velocity was up over 1 MPH.
| Arizona Diamondbacks | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Taylor Clarke – W (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 60% CSW |
| Brandyn Garcia – HLD (5) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
| Paul Sewald – SV (15) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 39% CSW |
- Two strikeouts from Taylor Clarke? Against the Dodgers!? He got to face Muncy, Freeland, and Call, so maybe this is not so crazy, but still great to see some bat-missing ability.
NYM 2 – SEA 3
| New York Mets | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sean Manaea | 5.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 4 K | 7 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Brooks Raley – BS (1) | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
| Luke Weaver | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Devin Williams | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 44% CSW |
| A.J. Minter – L (1) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
- Devin Williams looked great here, almost completing the perfect BSB as he left just one fastball down in the zone (wound up being a groundout anyway), so it was great seeing this kind of command from him.
| Seattle Mariners | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| José A. Ferrer | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Matt Brash | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
| Andrés Muñoz | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
| Gabe Speier – W (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
- Gabe Speier has shown improved velocity over the past two outings, which is exciting, as we may be getting 2025 Speier back finally (next is Cleavinger, hopefully).
