Hey y’all! It’s playoff time in fantasy baseball land and instead of a traditional 1-100 SP ranking and analyzing team-by-team schedules the very best thing I can do for everyone is to rank each Starting Pitcher for every day of the week for your fantasy baseball championships and last week of your Roto Season
I’ve been granted the help of Kyle Bland to create Team Offense Rankings via PLV Projections, which are now split up by both park factors and by their L/R splits.
Some of you all may be aware that I’ve had a lot less time this summer than I usually do. I’ve been doing everything I can to carve out the hours to deliver the Roundup and The List earlier and as full as they should be, and I’ll continue to feel guilty on days like these where not only is it not on Monday afternoon, but it is also not 100% filled out with my analysis.
Next week will have the full week’s worth of write-ups written out for you. Today, you have Tuesday and Wednesday taken from my morning streaming article, and the plan is to update this with the morning streaming article so you can constantly refer to it throughout the end of the year.
I’m sure many of you have specific matchup questions, and I’ll be available inside our PL+/Pro community Discord to answer all the questions you have + ask all SP questions you have inside the weekly Reddit post, too.

I cannot express that enough. Even while I was making them, one starter got moved and it created a ripple effect. That doesn’t make this worthless, though. In most cases, you can carry over the pitcher’s tier ranking to the early/later date, and y’all are smart enough to make those minor adjustments if it doesn’t match here.

Keider Montero (Opener) vs. WSH – The Tigers are calling up River Ryan to make his season debut and first appearance as a Detroit Tiger. It’s awesome! I’m excited! And not going to touch him in fantasy given the hyper limited pitch count (39 pitches on 9/15). It paves the way for Montero to steal a Win against the Nationals, though, and I wouldn’t overlook it.
Zebby Matthews @ SFG – Which Zebby are we going to get? It’s possible he deserves to be in the tier above, but I truly can’t tell you that he’ll have the command that would allow him to take advantage of a great matchup in Oracle Park.
Shane Baz vs. TOR – I don’t even like this start! We have only three games on Monday, and if you need volume, Baz has the highest leash of all arms here. However, he’s lost the feel for his curve recently, and he’s become a 15-team HIPSTER.
Do Not Starts
DJ Herz @ DET – He’s back! It’s a Still ILL for a pitcher who nearly tossed 70 pitches in his last rehab start, sitting 92.7 mph – over a tick higher than his 91.5 mph from his 2024 rookie season. He also flexed solid slider command, and intent for the SWATCH approach to RHB. A super sneaky play that may actually work, especially if he can combat his adrenaline to find strikes with possible 93-94 mph velocity.
Spencer Miles (Opener) @ BAL – It’s the expected return of Trey Yesavage from the IL, who should not be throwing more than four frames at most (likely three or maybe even two given his history of shotgun command). It does open the door for a potential dub for Miles, but the volume will be low, and everything has to go right for it to work out.
Blade Tidwell vs. MIN – Not a bad matchup for Tidwell in San Francisco, but I really don’t like banking on Tidwell’s mediocre arsenal.
Tuesday 9/22 Starting Pitcher Streamer Rankings

Logan Gilbert vs. HOU – Aces gonna ace.
Payton Tolle vs. CLE – Aces gonna ace.

Max Fried vs. TBR – This is Max Fried’s third doubleheader of the season, which seems abnormal to me. I don’t know. Just start him.
Carlos Rodón vs. TBR – Rodón isn’t as studly as the others, but his ceiling is higher than Messick’s.
Parker Messick @ BOS – He’s a sturdy Holly who is so dang close to putting a cap on a season of bliss. Don’t ruin it now.
Shota Imanaga vs. MIA – Imanaga has the whiffs y’all.
Probably Starts
Jared Jones vs. STL – I’m tempted to put him in the next tier, but it’s not a given that he has the slider feel again.
Taj Bradley @ SFG – The strikeouts are flowing and it’s Oracle Park.
Cristian Javier @ SEA – I really hope he’s truly turning it around. The volatility is still there, but maybe the cutter is the missing piece.
Nick Martinez @ NYY – Why stop now? Judge isn’t even here.
Questionable Starts
Anthony Kay @ KCR – This could be a cheap Win for a White Sox team that needs it.
Dustin May @ PHI – It’s been rough for May across the last month and it was disappointing watching him struggle. The skills are still there, though, and if you’re searching for six frames of production across the board, May still very much has that in him.
Andre Pallante @ PIT – It’s PNC Park and the St. Louis defense has helped Pallante plenty. Now Andre just needs to not live in the heart of the zone…
Sean Manaea @ TEX – Manaea still worries me. His four-seamer isn’t the overwhelming pitch we’ve seen in the past. At least it’s in Arlington.
Michael King @ LAD – It’s a terrible matchup, but King has come through in tougher situations.
Michael Soroka @ COL – I’ve been waiting for Soroka to get locked in since his return from the IL and now that he’s there…it’s Coors. He can still make it work.
MacKenzie Gore vs. NYM – Who knows what we’ll get. I think he’s hurt more than helped.
Yusei Kikuchi @ ATH – It’s Sacré Verde and Kikuchi is on a downward trend.
Drew Anderson vs. WSH – Anderson’s split-changeup can be good enough to make this work. I don’t love the full arsenal, and he’s not efficient enough to depend on six frames.
Do Not Starts
Anthony Molina vs. MIN – I was tempted to push Molina one tier higher after he came through for the second time. Not consecutively, though, and it’s unclear if his ceiling is high enough to justify the risk. I’m still so tempted.
Chris Bassitt vs. TOR – Bassitt gives you a long leash, but at what cost?
Max Scherzer @ BAL – That ten-strikeout game was cool. It won’t happen again.
Jackson Kent @ DET – I continue to have a soft spot for Kent, hoping he nails down the command needed for this Stretch Armstrong 7+ feet extension southpaw to become a proper SWATCH. We haven’t seen it yet, which has me doubtful it’ll suddenly appear on Monday.
Daniel Lynch IV vs. CHW – He’s going longer now, and it’s just so boring when it works. It’s not boring in the worst way when it doesn’t.
Brandon Williamson (Opener) @ ATL – I’m guessing that Chase Burns will open for one more game this year, giving Williamson another decent shot at a Win. If B Dubs is starting proper, then this becomes even less appealing.
Janson Junk @ CHC – Junk isn’t going long into games, nor is he finding the whiffs his stuff suggests.
Justin Wrobleski vs. SDP – Sooooo how long is Wrobo Cop going to go? Is Landon Knack going to follow? DODGERITIS IS THE WORST.

Connor Prielipp @ SFG – That game was so good and I imagine I’m higher on Prielipp than most. The increased breaking ball usage is what I’ve been waiting for, and in a fantastic matchup, I have faith Prielipp is dying to get the ball back and do it again.
Walbert Ureña @ ATH – Ureña has had a stupid good season out of nowhere, and Sacré Verde isn’t enough to hold him back.
Kevin Gausman vs. MIA – But he’s a HIPSTER! Yeah, I get it completely. Personally, I believe that Gausman should do well on a given night against the Marlins with the Cubs defense at his back. You do you, I’m doing it.
Questionable Starts
George Kirby vs. HOU – He really should be fantastic and he’s…not. He’s a pure HIPSTER and I have no idea what will happen here.
Framber Valdez vs. WSH – Same with Valdez, though there is a touch of hope after he had a fantastic curveball last game. Sadly, it was masked by a poor feel for sinker. Now if that sinker returns to normal, that would be swell.
Foster Griffin @ BOS – Griffin’s consistency has teetered more regularly in the second half and Fenway isn’t the best place to pitch. At least the Guardians will work him as much as they can to help win the division.
Robbie Ray @ LAD – Ray just overcame Coors. He’s stepped up against strong teams in the past. It’s all because his success is about his own execution moreso than the opponent he faces. The floor, however, does change.
Aaron Nola vs. MIL – Nola has refused to surrender a HR in three of his last four games. If the curveball can be a CSW darling and the four-seamer can avoid damage, Nola will produce.
Matthew Liberatore @ PIT – The slider propelled an ear 30% strikeout rate for a solid run for Libby, and it was nowhere near as effective the last time we saw him. It’s PNC Park and if you’re searching for punchouts, this is a good dart throw.
Do Not Starts
Merrill Kelly @ COL – If Kelly has the changeup cooking, it gives him a shot, even in Coors.
Cesar Perdomo vs. MIN – Perdomo is displaying the intent of a SWATCH and executed it properly in his debut start. It’s been off since, but it could return against the Twins.
Cody Bradford vs. NYM – This hasn’t worked for a bit, yet he’s been close. It’s still in there if you’re desperate.
Khristian Curtis (Opener) vs. STL – The Pirates should have an opener for Curtis, who could go four frames with a decent arsenal, opening the door for a Win.
Seth Lugo vs. CHW – Lugo has the leash without the quality.

Paul Skenes vs. STL – What do we do with you? Are you actually injured? He’s still earning a ton of whiffs, which makes me inclined to start him despite the ratios.
Clay Holmes vs. MIA – If you’re looking for volume with a good Win chance, The Adobe is the place to rent.
Zac Thornton @ TEX – Thornton has been shockingly good at locating his four-seamer up and cutter inside to RHB, while improving his attack to LHB. The stuff makes me wary, but he’s down it for a while now.
Questionable Starts
Peter Lambert @ ATH – I dig Lambert. I don’t dig pitching in Sacré Verde.
Eduardo Rodriguez @ COL – Erod has hit a major wall and now it’s Coors. Yikes.
Nick Pivetta @ LAD – Pivetta is facing the Dodgers after giving us another low-pitch count outing with few whiffs. He’s not back yet.
Randy Dobnak vs. CHW – Randy had that DOB and not that DOG in him last start. He could sling those sinkers, sweepers, and changeups effectively this time against a poor offense.
David Sandlin @ KCR – Sandlin will be opposite Dobnak and is also hoping to rebound from a rough one. He has better stuff without the track record of inducing weak contact and throwing strikes.
Cooper Hjerpe (Opener) @ PIT – We’re expecting Kyle Leahy to open once again, who should allow far fewer runs than he has in limited frames across his last three games. Hjerpe’s side-arm four-seamer has potential for whiffs upstairs and the Pirates aren’t scary.

José Urquidy vs. MIL – Urquidy vs. Gordon is a fun one – two quiet
Tanner Bibee @ BOS – I just can’t, y’all. Sure, it could work. It also has been so blegh.
Colton Gordon @ PHI – Oh hey! We haven’t seen Gordon since late April and he’s fresh off multiple 90+ pitch outings, featuring good sinker/sweeper command to LHB and solid pitch separation toward the edges against RHB. A sleeper streamer for deep leagues.
Grayson Rodriguez @ SEA – The four-seamer and changeup command is good, while the breakers were a bit better last time out. Throw in @TEA and this has sneaky written all over it. So that means it won’t work, right? You betcha.
Kumar Rocker vs. NYM – If you need strikeouts, Rocker has been able to get arms fishing under the plate for sliders. However, it’s rare to see him go more than five frames, if that.
Brady Singer @ ATL – It has been difficult to watch Singer lately.
Tyler Phillips @ CHC – Phillips is not the arm you’re looking for. He’s on a short leash and the quality is mid.
Mason Barnett vs. HOU – This hasn’t worked at all.

Blake Snell @ SFG – Aces gonna ace. They said they wanted him to pitch a full outing to prep for the playoffs, so we let him fly.
Reid Detmers @ SEA – Detmers has been too dang good with his slider.
Noah Cameron vs. CLE – Cameron is calling his pitches and has been absurdly consistent.
Joe Ryan vs. TEX – It didn’t go well last time. The skills were there and I’d start without fear.
Probably Starts
Trevor Rogers @ NYY – He just cooked in Coors + against the Brewers and the Yankees are without Judge.
Jackson Jobe vs. PIT – Jobe is finally leaning into his slider and it’s getting him strikeouts. It’s rad.
Andrew Painter vs. TBR – The secondaries are great and his four-seamer found its vert again last start. If not for a three-run shot in the fifth, we’d be ecstatic for this one.
Christian Scott @ WSH – I dig his four-seamer and I’m not sure how much I love the rest.
Freddy Peralta @ PHI – Peralta may have finally found his groove…just a little later than we needed him to.
Joey Cantillo @ KCR – Cantillo had his curveball back and that’s enough for me to trust him here.
Andrew Alvarez vs. NYM – I originally had Alvarez in the third tier, but that curveball was legit and he’s throwing it more and more.
Will Warren vs. BAL – Warren had a rough frame in Arizona, but I still like his increased focus on secondaries.
Sean Burke vs. COL – Burke had reduced velocity and not the greatest breaker command against the Tigers, but he survived. He’ll only need the curveball against Rockie Road, at the very least.
Dylan Cease vs. CIN – Cease may not even start here or at all the rest of the year after sitting nearly four ticks down from his season average in the first half. Plan accordingly.
Questionable Starts
Michael McGreevy @ MIL – McGreevy can churn outs in a heartbeat. He can also struggle to miss enough bats to escape jams.
Jake Bennett vs. CHC – Bennett look much better last game and it’s possible he pulls this one off, too.
Brandon Pfaadt @ SDP – I’m into Pfaadt’s improved pitch separation in the second half, yet he looked far worse over the weekend.
Matthew Boyd @ BOS – Boyd isn’t getting the whiffs and has been HR prone. Still has the Win chance and long leash, though.
Nick Lodolo @ TOR – Lodolo’s curveball has been off ever since his blister.
Hayden Wesneski @ ATH – He’s a command guy going into Sacré Verde and it’s super meeeeh.

Bubba Chandler @ DET – Chandler. Buddy. Please. End the season on the highest of notes. BE GOLDEN.
Grant Holmes @ MIA – Holmes has some strikeout upside but it rarely comes out and the WHIP stings.
Casey Mize vs. ARI – His velocity was down again and I really can’t endorse this. He’s so clearly hurt.
Jacob Lopez vs. HOU – That was a disaster, and it was also the third straight game of a far worse rhythm than the hot stretch prior. I hope you got out.
Jordan Montgomery @ MIN – Oh hey! It’s The Bear! They may let him start proper once before the end of the year, but that doesn’t mean you should start him, too.
Yunior Marte vs. LAD – Marte is kinda intriguing, but this is absurdly dangerous.

Michael Wacha vs. CLE – One more to put a cap on Wacha’s magical season.
Brayan Bello vs. CHC – Bello fanned eleven out of nowhere, sitting +1.5 ticks on his heater and throwing all the strikes. It was DOPE. Hard not to throw him out there after that.
Kade Anderson vs. LAA – Kade was great in his PILOT Rule, then great in Coors. In other words, the two times he was least likely to succeed. However, seeing a rookie regain their skills after their moment of adversity usually starts a hot streak, and against the Angels, I’ll take my chances.
Questionable Starts
José Soriano vs. CIN – He is who he is.
Ryan Johnson @ SEA – Ryan returned to 94/95 mph, but it didn’t go his way. Now it’s @TEA and he may still be worthwhile.
Jonah Tong @ WSH – The Vulcan change feel disappeared on us as we feared. But hey, it could come back!
Sandy Alcantara vs. ATL – Sandy, this may be your last game with the Marlins (do they really want to spend $21M for your club option?). I hope you go out with style.
Quinn Mathews @ MIL – Mathews has a trio of successful starts to his name, though the box score hides the questionable execution of his arsenal in that time. Just 1/20 whiffs on his slider against the Nationals isn’t the most inspiring results.
Martín Pérez @ MIA – Looking for a cheap Win or decent ERA across 5+? Pérez might fit the bill. Few strikeouts and a shaky WHIP may follow, though.
Dean Kremer vs. TEX – Kremer came through for trusting managers over the weekend, but the velocity dip has me a little scared.
Do Not Starts
David Peterson @ BOS – I could be undervaluing this one after a good start from Peterson, but it’s also incredibly risky.
Jack Perkins vs. HOU – Perkins has had a pair of strong outings on the road, but back home in Sacré Verde has me spooked. But the Astros are poor against RHB sweepers! Maybe that’s enough. That’s too big-brain, right?
Corbin Burnes @ SDP – Burnes is back from the IL and it’s…not good. His cutter fell in velocity to under 91 mph without good drop, looking like a poor cut-fastball that got pummeled for longballs. He’s not fully stretched out, either, and I’d just avoid it.
Davis Martin vs. COL – Martin has the chance to pull it off against Rockie Road, but his spring command has been missing for months.
Brandon Young @ NYY – Young has a strong four-seamer and could face a Yankee squad resting its club
Matt Wilkinson vs. LAD – Tugboat came through! And I still can’t bank on it working against the Dodgers.
Connelly Early vs. NYM – I’m stoked to see Early and sincerely hope he’s at his best. It’s a Still ILL with a limited pitch count that we can easily ignore.
Walker Buehler vs. ARI – Buehler doesn’t go long into games and his ratio boost is often insignificant.
Rhett Lowder @ TOR – Lowder has some moments. Very brief ones, but they exist.
Luis Gil vs. BAL – The doubleheader shakes up the Yankee rotation, making for a bullpen game on Saturday. This is not a proper start for the inflexible Gil, who is not stretched out in the slightest.
Antwone Kelly (Opener) @ DET – If the Pirates give Kelly an opener, at least he’ll have a shot at a Win?
Justin Verlander vs. PIT – I so hope they let him start. Man, that would be cool, just let him have one inning in front of the fans. PLEASE.
Tomoyuki Sugano @ CHW – Last chance for that 13th Win. It’s not gonna happen, is it. Probably not.
Sunday 9/27 Starting Pitcher Streamer Rankings
Sunday is the hardest day of the entire baseball season to get right. I ranked them as best as I could without getting too deep into the weeds of assessing their probabilities of lower pitch counts, facing weaker lineups, and even starting in the first place. This is going to change everyday right up to first pitch on Sunday. Do not bank on any of these starters to be your winning ticket and be as flexible as possible on the final day. GOOD. LUCK!
Auto-Starts
Logan Gilbert vs. LAA – Aces gonna ace.
Zack Wheeler vs. TBR – They’ve got to be resting him for the playoffs, right?
Parker Messick @ KCR – If the Guardians don’t have a bye, Messick will be saved for the first round of the playoffs. They may still skip him to give him extra rest if they’re locked.
Carlos Rodón vs. BAL – Rodón may be skipped here for someone like Clarke Schmidt to get reps (if his biceps cramps are okay) to be ready for the playoffs, even if he’d start deeper in the week.

Michael King vs. ARI – The Padres may rest King if they are postseason bound. If they’re still in contention, King will get the pearl and he’s been solid.

Brandon Williamson @ TOR – I’m expecting the Reds to give him a full workload on Sunday, which is as much as you can hope for on this day.
