Welcome to the RP Roundup, my daily fantasy baseball article reviewing every reliever performance from the previous day.
WSN 8 – PIT 7
| Washington Nationals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paxton Schultz – BS (1) | 0.1 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
| PJ Poulin | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Gus Varland – HLD (2) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Cionel Pérez – HLD (4) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
| Clayton Beeter – W (1) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
| Orlando Ribalta – SV (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- Clayton Beeter unsurprisingly had some command issues here, and I think the Nationals need to move him out of high-leverage spots for the time being so he can work on throwing strikes. He now has more walks than strikeouts on the year.
| Pittsburgh Pirates | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Evan Sisk | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 43% CSW |
| Yohan Ramírez – BS (1) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 47% CSW |
| Isaac Mattson | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Justin Lawrence | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Dennis Santana – L (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 18% CSW |
- Dennis Santana didn’t have his best stuff or command today, which has been the case with him on back-to-back days. They may want to start avoiding him in those situations, and they should be able to do so with how deep their bullpen is.
SFG 3 – CIN 0
| San Francisco Giants | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ryan Walker – HLD (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Keaton Winn – HLD (3) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Erik Miller – SV (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 3 K | 5 Whiffs | 46% CSW |
- This is exactly how we pictured the next Giants save chance going right? This is probably the best role for Ryan Walker, but it’s not the role fantasy managers were hoping for. I don’t think we should get too excited about Erik Miller just yet, but his stuff was up yesterday (9th-inning save-chance adrenaline?), yet he still had no fastball command, per usual. This is probably going to be a multi-reliever closer committee moving forward.
| Cincinnati Reds | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brock Burke – L (1) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 47% CSW |
| Connor Phillips | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
| Sam Moll | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 45% CSW |
| Kyle Nicolas | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
- Connor Phillips actually had decent fastball command here (he obviously hit Adames on purpose), it was his sweeper that he couldn’t locate. He’ll likely be facing a suspension, so he’ll miss some time coming up, but maybe he can use it to shore up his command in some bullpen sessions.
KCR 9 – DET 10
| Kansas City Royals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| John Schreiber | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Alex Lange | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
| Nick Mears – HLD (2) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Daniel Lynch IV – HLD (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 43% CSW |
| Lucas Erceg – L (1) | 0.2 IP | 3 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
- Lucas Erceg came into the game with just a 5% SwStr rate on the year, but he managed 3 whiffs here. The velocity is still down, and his stuff is just average at best right now (the slider was good here though) with middling command. Carlos Estévez goes out on his rehab assignment next week, and if he can find his velocity, the window for Erceg could be closing.
| Detroit Tigers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Drew Anderson – HLD (1) | 0.1 IP | 3 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Tyler Holton – BS (1) | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 15% CSW |
| Enmanuel De Jesus | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Connor Seabold – W (1) | 1.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 47% CSW |
- There’s something funny about Tyler Holton needing to throw six different pitches just to get one out, but that’s kind of also his thing.
LAA 11 – NYY 4
| Los Angeles Angels | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nick Sandlin | 1.1 IP | 2 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 5 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Sam Aldegheri – W (1) | 1.2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Sam Bachman – HLD (3) | 3.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 37% CSW |
| Chase Silseth | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
- Sam Bachman needed just 27 pitches to get through 3 innings here. 21 of those 27 pitches were sliders as he just dominated with the pitch here. Still need that sinker command to come around.
| New York Yankees | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fernando Cruz | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Angel Chivilli | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Ryan Yarbrough | 2.1 IP | 4 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 4 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- Angel Chivilli made his Yankees debut here, and it was…mixed. Trout homered off him, but he’s been homering off everyone all week. The stuff wasn’t great, and his command was nonexistent. I think Jake Bird will be back up sooner rather than later.
TOR 1 – MIL 2
| Toronto Blue Jays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tommy Nance – L (1) | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 12% CSW |
| Joe Mantiply | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 60% CSW |
| Louis Varland | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
- Tommy Nance has lost his command recently, and I suppose that will happen when you throw your curveball and slider as much as he does.
| Milwaukee Brewers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aaron Ashby – W (5) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Trevor Megill – HLD (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Angel Zerpa – SV (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
- Trevor Megill had a good outing here, but it wasn’t exactly what we were hoping to see from him. The velocity is still in the 97 range (which is fine), but the command was still questionable. It’s a step in the right direction, though, so hopefully he can build off this.

TBR 5 – CHW 3
| Tampa Bay Rays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Griffin Jax | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Kevin Kelly – W (2) | 2.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Bryan Baker – SV (4) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
- Griffin Jax still has a fastball issue, and it wasn’t even terribly located here, but it keeps getting hit hard. I wonder if there is some sort of tipping going on here, or maybe it’s a sequencing thing.

| Chicago White Sox | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Anthony Kay | 2.2 IP | 1 ER | 4 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Jordan Hicks | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Grant Taylor | 1.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 3 K | 6 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Sean Newcomb – BS (1) | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 3 Whiffs | 43% CSW |
| Seranthony Domínguez – L (2) | 0.1 IP | 3 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Lucas Sims | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 13% CSW |
- Seranthony Domínguez has no idea where his fastball is going right now while also lobbing sweepers over the middle of the plate. He shouldn’t be the closer right now, but this team also has no idea what they want to do with Grant Taylor (his command was terrible here, too) or Jordan Leasure (who opened here).
TEX 9 – ATH 6
| Texas Rangers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Robert Garcia | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Tyler Alexander – HLD (2) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Jakob Junis – HLD (3) | 1.1 IP | 3 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Jacob Latz – BS (1) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
| Cal Quantrill – W (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
- After getting three saves last week, Jakob Junis made his first appearance this week…in the 7th inning. Some bad luck here led to those runs charged against him, but we also need to remember Junis is not an easy reliever to trust (0 Whiffs on 24 pitches). If this is indeed a full-blown committee, there’s no reason to roster Junis.

| Athletics | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Luis Medina – BS (1) | 1.1 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
| Scott Barlow | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Jack Perkins | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 9% CSW |
| Justin Sterner – L (2) | 1.0 IP | 3 ER | 4 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
- Ayy, we finally got a Justin Sterner save chance. And all of a sudden, his stuff disappears. Where’s Joel Kuhnel when you need him (this is a joke, Kuhnel is not the answer).
BAL 2 – CLE 4
| Baltimore Orioles | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cameron Foster | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 3 K | 7 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Tyler Wells | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
- The Orioles are manufacturing gaudy relievers at a staggering rate this year, because who is Cameron Foster? The command was a mess, but that fastball/slider combo is definitely intriguing.

| Cleveland Guardians | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cade Smith – SV (4) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
- Cade Smith is still not feeling his off-speed stuff, but was still able to grind through this one and pick up his fourth save. It’s not a concern yet, but hopefully he can lock in the splitter/sweeper soon.
COL 3 – HOU 2
| Colorado Rockies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chase Dollander – W (2) | 5.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 9 K | 14 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Jaden Hill – HLD (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Jimmy Herget – HLD (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Victor Vodnik – SV (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- Victor Vodnik’s command issues on the road continue, although the stuff was incredible tonight, averaging 100.3 MPH on his fastball. He’s super volatile, but also the team’s closer, so I get it if you feel like you need to roster him.
| Houston Astros | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Christian Roa – L (1) | 1.1 IP | 1 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 12% CSW |
| AJ Blubaugh | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Kai-Wei Teng | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- AJ Blubaugh’s stuff (and command) have just disappeared after that first week, unfortunately. He can still be ok at 95 MPH, but even the changeup and sweeper don’t look as great as they did those first few outings. Two whiffs on 39 pitches is rough.
SEA 2 – SDP 5
| Seattle Mariners | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cole Wilcox | 1.2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 4 Whiffs | 43% CSW |
| Cooper Criswell | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
- That Cole Wilcox sweeper is legit, and the sinker may be good enough. It’s just going to be hard for him to find high-leverage opportunities in this bullpen.
| San Diego Padres | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bradgley Rodriguez – HLD (2) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Adrian Morejon – HLD (3) | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 47% CSW |
| Jason Adam – HLD (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| Mason Miller – SV (6) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 4 Whiffs | 57% CSW |
- Four games for Jason Adam so far and zero strikeouts. The stuff is still where it needs to be; his command has just been a bit rusty, which is to be expected after the long layoff.
