Welcome to the RP Roundup, my daily fantasy baseball article reviewing every reliever performance from the previous day.
BAL 4 – NYY 9
| Baltimore Orioles | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Keegan Akin | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Grant Wolfram | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 43% CSW |
| Anthony Nunez | 0.0 IP | 3 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 12% CSW |
| Dietrich Enns | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
| Nick Raquet | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
- Ranking the Orioles’ left-handed options. Grant Wolfram > Dietrich Enns > Keegan Akin > Nick Raquet. Akin is squarely on the DFA bubble once this bullpen gets to full strength.
- Anthony Nunez has now allowed 7 earned runs over his past three games (2 IP). The stuff also took a step back here, and I wonder if he is ultimately the odd man out now once Ryan Helsley returns. Crazy turn of events for him this week, but that’s how it goes with relievers sometimes.
| New York Yankees | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jake Bird – HLD (3) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Camilo Doval – HLD (2) | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Tim Hill – HLD (5) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
| Paul Blackburn | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
- Camilo Doval was back down in the 96/97 MPH range here after being in the 100 MPH range the day prior. Pitching back-to-back days definitely is a factor, but this is also wildly frustrating.
TOR 11 – MIN 4
| Toronto Blue Jays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mason Fluharty | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Spencer Miles | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 13% CSW |
- No whiffs from Mason Fluharty? At least there was no bad BABIP luck.
| Minnesota Twins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Justin Topa – HLD (3) | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
| Kody Funderburk – HLD (5) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
| Luis García Jr. – L (1) | 0.0 IP | 4 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Anthony Banda | 1.0 IP | 3 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 11% CSW |
| John Klein | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
- Seriously, why are the Twins wasting a roster spot on Luis García Jr.?
- Anthony Banda’s velo dipped back down in this one, so the results check out.
ARI 0 – CHC 2
| Arizona Diamondbacks | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kevin Ginkel | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 8% CSW |
| Taylor Clarke | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Juan Morillo | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 37% CSW |
| Jonathan Loáisiga | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
- Juan Morillo’s changeup has taken a small step back lately, but ultimately, I don’t think it should change his outlook too much.
| Chicago Cubs | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ben Brown – SV (1) | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
- We finally got that multi-inning Ben Brown save, and he did so without allowing a baserunner to boot. Even with Daniel Palencia back, Brown should remain a factor in holds leagues.
CLE 14 – ATH 6
| Cleveland Guardians | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Matt Festa – HLD (3) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
| Tim Herrin | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Hunter Gaddis | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Colin Holderman | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
- Hunter Gaddis has now allowed 7 hits and 4 earned runs over his past three games (.2 IP). The velo and command were down again, so yea I’m definitely concerned.
| Athletics | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scott Barlow | 1.1 IP | 2 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| Hogan Harris | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Luis Morales | 2.0 IP | 5 ER | 4 H | 4 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
- Scott Barlow with two earned runs allowed without allowing a hit or walk? He hit two batters who eventually scored on Hogan Harris.
CIN 7 – PIT 17
| Cincinnati Reds | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Connor Phillips | 0.0 IP | 2 ER | 0 H | 4 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
| Sam Moll | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Brock Burke | 1.0 IP | 5 ER | 6 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Graham Ashcraft | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| Jose Franco | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Jose Trevino | 2.0 IP | 2 ER | 5 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 7% CSW |
- Connor Phillips, what happened here, man? The velo was way down, and he couldn’t command anything. Ughhh.
- Same for Brock Burke, how did this happen? The velo was down for Burke, and he was getting hit hard by lefties (O’Hearn’s “single” was an inch from a HR).
| Pittsburgh Pirates | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chris Devenski | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Yohan Ramírez | 2.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 44% CSW |
| Gregory Soto | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 43% CSW |
- Don’t love wasting Gregory Soto bullets in a 10-run game, but he hadn’t pitched in a while. I think he may be the favorite for saves again here.
MIL 4 – WSN 1
| Milwaukee Brewers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grant Anderson – HLD (5) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 11% CSW |
| DL Hall – HLD (3) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Trevor Megill – HLD (4) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 15% CSW |
| Abner Uribe – SV (3) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
- Trevor Megill and Abner Uribe generating just 1 whiff in two innings feels wrong, but neither one looks their best right now, as both are still down velo-wise, and the command is still not great.
| Washington Nationals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brad Lord | 2.0 IP | 1 ER | 4 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Orlando Ribalta | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- Orlando Ribalta has a good fastball, and the slider can be OK…just needs to shore up the command.
HOU 6 – BOS 3
| Houston Astros | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Enyel De Los Santos | 1.2 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Bennett Sousa | 0.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 15% CSW |
| Kai-Wei Teng – HLD (3) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Bryan King – SV (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
- Good to see Kai-Wei Teng back in the bullpen, so is he going to stick here now? It’s really the only logical option for him as he is a one-pitch guy with that sweeper (the fastball is actually OK out of the pen at 95 MPH though, it can survive).
| Boston Red Sox | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ryan Watson | 3.0 IP | 1 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 4 K | 6 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Tyler Samaniego | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
- One of Ryan Watson’s better outings this season, I guess?
PHI 0 – MIA 4
| Philadelphia Phillies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tanner Banks | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Trevor Richards | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- Trevor Richards hasn’t been effective for a while (2021 maybe?), but that changeup is still a good pitch, and the fastball looks better than it has. Maybe there could be something here, but when this bullpen gets to full strength, it could be hard for him to fit in.
| Miami Marlins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Anthony Bender | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 0 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Andrew Nardi | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
- Anthony Bender was sitting 98 MPH here and actually commanded his stuff really well (hence the 2 K’s with 0 whiffs). I’d love to see this velo increase continue.
SFG 1 – TBR 5
| San Francisco Giants | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Matt Gage | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
| Ryan Borucki | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Gregory Santos | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
- Gregory Santos can still throw upper 90’s (sat 98 here), but the command is still an issue.
| Tampa Bay Rays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jesse Scholtens – W (3) | 3.0 IP | 1 ER | 4 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 5 Whiffs | 34% CSW |
| Kevin Kelly – HLD (5) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Garrett Cleavinger – HLD (3) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Casey Legumina | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
- Nice to have Garrett Cleavinger back in the mix, but the velo still remains down from last season. It may not be a huge issue, but it likely caps his ceiling as we won’t see similar number to 2025.
LAD 2 – STL 3
| Los Angeles Dodgers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alex Vesia | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Jake Eder | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 8% CSW |
- Not the best command from Alex Vesia, but we’re ok with the result. Now, if we could only get the Dodgers to start winning games again, so we can see how the closer role plays out a bit better.
| St. Louis Cardinals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ryne Stanek – HLD (5) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 5 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
| JoJo Romero – HLD (9) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 41% CSW |
| Riley O’Brien – SV (9) | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 4 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
- Riley O’Brien has been playing with fire the past couple of outings, but ultimately has survived and picked up saves in the last two. Things should not have gotten to this point in this game, though. He got two quick outs before a “single” that could have been an error, and should have ended the game, allowed things to continue. The next hitter was also a ground ball that could have ended the game, but it too bounced off Winn’s glove at short. The next batter hit a ball through Wetherhold’s glove. The fourth hit was between the diving SS and 3B, not touching any glove. Anyway, no concerns at all with O’Brien after this game, just some crazy bad luck.
TEX 1 – DET 5
| Texas Rangers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cal Quantrill | 3.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Peyton Gray | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Gavin Collyer | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
- Peyton Gray’s changeup is actually really good, I just don’t know if the fastball is good enough for this to be anything. The changeup has me intrigued, though.
| Detroit Tigers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Drew Anderson | 2.1 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 5 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
- Drew Anderson at this velo continues to dominate. If Kenley Jansen ultimately needs time on the IL, I’d love to just see Anderson as a setup man for Kyle Finnegan.
ATL 9 – COL 1
| Atlanta Braves | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dylan Lee | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
| Hunter Stratton | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
- Dylan Lee will get holds eventually; be patient.
| Colorado Rockies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brennan Bernardino | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Tanner Gordon | 3.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 4 K | 8 Whiffs | 41% CSW |
- That’s a good line from Tanner Gordon here. No, you should not be interested in rostering him.
CHW 4 – SDP 0
| Chicago White Sox | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bryan Hudson | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Grant Taylor | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Seranthony Domínguez – SV (8) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
- Grant Taylor ran out of steam here, and I don’t love seeing his velo down almost 2 MPH (I also don’t love that his WHIP is at 1.38 on the season now). Something to keep an eye on.
| San Diego Padres | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bradgley Rodriguez | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Kyle Hart | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Jeremiah Estrada | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 5 Whiffs | 62% CSW |
- This is more like the Jeremiah Estrada we’ve come to know and love. The command is still terrible (2/13 pitches in the zone here, not one fastball near the strike zone), but the stuff looks much better than it did before he went on the IL. The velo is still down a little over 1 MPH from where he was at last season, but it’s up 2 MPH from where he was before the IL stint.
NYM 3 – LAA 4
| New York Mets | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tobias Myers | 2.2 IP | 0 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 4 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Huascar Brazobán | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Craig Kimbrel | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Austin Warren – L (1) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
- I think there’s a chance Craig Kimbrel is a legit contributor in this bullpen. The stuff looks good, and the command isn’t exactly terrible.
| Los Angeles Angels | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sam Bachman | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 6 Whiffs | 44% CSW |
| Ryan Zeferjahn – W (2) | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
- Ryan Zeferjahn pitching the 9th and 10th in a tie game, sure makes it seem like he is the favorite for saves moving forward. The pitch usage in this one was crazy, with just 2 fastballs and 21 sweepers/sliders thrown. Actually, between Sam Bachman and Zeferjahn, they managed to get the final 11 outs while only throwing 5 total fastballs (none in the zone). The fastballs between Zeferjahn and Bachman have me tepid to buy in, but I guess Zeferjahn is worth a flier for the time being, and if it doesn’t work out, we can cut bait quickly.
KCR 3 – SEA 2
| Kansas City Royals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Luinder Avila | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 39% CSW |
| Matt Strahm – W (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Lucas Erceg – SV (9) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
- This is the Luinder Avila I’ve been waiting to see. The velo was up 2.5 MPH as he decided to air it out coming out of the bullpen, finally. Hopefully this continues.
- Maybe the best outing for Lucas Erceg this season, and while he got to pick on the bottom third of the Mariners lineup again (I’m once again asking why Leo Rivas is hitting in the ninth inning down a run), Erceg has been pitching much better the past week or so. Maybe he can hold on to the role even when Carlos Estévez returns in the coming weeks?
| Seattle Mariners | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eduard Bazardo – HLD (4) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
| Andrés Muñoz – BS (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
| Cooper Criswell – L (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- Tough blown save for Andrés Muñoz, who got burned by a couple of grooved fastballs here. This is why he primarily leans on that slider.
