Welcome to the RP Roundup, my daily fantasy baseball article reviewing every reliever performance from the previous day.
MIN 2 – CLE 5

- Blegh.
| Cleveland Guardians | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Colin Holderman – W (5) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Shawn Armstrong – HLD (8) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 18% CSW |
| Hunter Gaddis – HLD (19) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 41% CSW |
| Cade Smith – SV (29) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
- Cade Smith was just casually sitting 100 MPH here…
LAD 2 – PHI 1
| Los Angeles Dodgers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Evan Phillips – HLD (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 62% CSW |
| Tanner Scott – SV (15) | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 39% CSW |
- Evan Phillips fastball was up 1.0 MPH, and the sweeper looked good. He appears to be back to pre-surgery form.
| Philadelphia Phillies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| José Alvarado | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Jonathan Bowlan | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
- Jonathan Bowlan threw more sliders than usual here, and the results were positive. The stuff in general is a bit down still, and it’s not like they can afford to give him too much time off.
TBR 12 – TOR 2
| Tampa Bay Rays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cole Sulser | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 6% CSW |
| Craig Kimbrel | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Garrett Cleavinger | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 12% CSW |
- Garrett Cleavinger also went heavy slider usage, which makes sense given his sinker being down still. I think this will work for him, but it’d obviously be nice to see that fastball velo return.
| Toronto Blue Jays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mason Fluharty | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Lazaro Estrada | 2.0 IP | 3 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 3 K | 4 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
| Patrick Corbin | 2.1 IP | 4 ER | 7 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 7 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Myles Straw | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
- Not much to see here.
SDP 8 – ATL 3
| San Diego Padres | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yuki Matsui – HLD (5) | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Bradgley Rodriguez | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Adrian Morejon | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
| Mason Miller | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 3 K | 5 Whiffs | 43% CSW |
- Bradgley Rodriguez’s changeup was nasty here. If the Padres do sell bullpen pieces, he may become a must-roster in save-only leagues.
| Atlanta Braves | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| JR Ritchie | 3.2 IP | 3 ER | 3 H | 3 BB | 4 K | 8 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Tyler Kinley | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 43% CSW |
- Tyler Kinley’s fastball was down here, and he’s been buried on the depth chart for now.
SFG 2 – KCR 3
| San Francisco Giants | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sam Hentges – BS (2) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| Keaton Winn | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 11% CSW |
| Dylan Smith | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Caleb Kilian | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 18% CSW |
- Keaton Winn hasn’t been the same guy since returning, and the fastball was down 1.5 MPH here.
| Kansas City Royals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Matt Strahm – HLD (12) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| John Schreiber – HLD (7) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 4 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Alex Lange – SV (9) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
- Nice to see Matt Strahm’s fastball up 1.6 MPH here, and perhaps the Royals could still get a nice return at the deadline for him.
NYM 4 – MIL 0
| New York Mets | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Luke Weaver – HLD (14) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 13% CSW |
| Brooks Raley | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Devin Williams | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
- Devin Williams fastball was up a bit here, but it led to just one whiff. No runs allowed, though, so we’ll take it.
| Milwaukee Brewers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chad Patrick | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
| Bryse Wilson | 4.0 IP | 1 ER | 7 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
- Meh.
DET 2 – CHC 11
| Detroit Tigers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ty Madden | 3.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 4 BB | 5 K | 9 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Brenan Hanifee | 2.0 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Zach McKinstry | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 3 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| Jake Rogers | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
- Blegh.
CHW 0 – TEX 10
| Chicago White Sox | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trevor Richards | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Tyler Schweitzer | 2.2 IP | 3 ER | 6 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 6 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Luisangel Acuña | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
- Bad day of reliever usage, huh?
MIA 3 – HOU 5
| Miami Marlins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tyler Zuber | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Ryan Gusto | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
| Zach Brzykcy | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 11% CSW |
- OK, we can maybe get kind of excited for Ryan Gusto. His fastball was up 2 MPH here, and there are some good pitches to work with, but it still gives me a headache sorting through all of his eight pitches.
| Houston Astros | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AJ Blubaugh | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 8 Whiffs | 48% CSW |
| Bennett Sousa – HLD (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
| Josh Hader – SV (11) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
- Bennett Sousa looks much better in his return from the IL this time than he had earlier in the year. The fastball was up over a MPH, and the slider looked good. With King now at AAA, there should be opportunity right away for Sousa.
WSN 7 – COL 8
| Washington Nationals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Miles Mikolas | 3.2 IP | 3 ER | 6 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 9 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| Orlando Ribalta | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 62% CSW |
| Matt Krook | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| Clayton Beeter – L (3) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
- Clayton Beeter wasn’t that bad here; the fastball was actually way up. The home run by Goodman was on a 3-2 slider down and out of the zone, so what are you gonna do?
| Colorado Rockies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brennan Bernardino | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 43% CSW |
| Victor Vodnik | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Jimmy Herget – BS (2) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 18% CSW |
| Juan Mejia – W (3) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Jordan Romano – SV (7) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
- Jordan Romano threw mostly sliders here, and it worked, but I am still not trusting this.
STL 1 – LAA 5
| St. Louis Cardinals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Matt Svanson | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Scott Blewett | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
- The worst (best?) name amongst relievers is back as Scott Blewett did not, in fact, blow it, but there’s also not much to get excited about here with a middling stuff profile.
| Los Angeles Angels | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mitch Farris | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
| Chase Silseth | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Ryan Zeferjahn | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 5 Whiffs | 45% CSW |
- Ryan Zeferjahn gave up a leadoff single to Walker on a groundball that hit off the bag, but then went on to strike out the next three batters. The stuff’s legit (always has been), but can we trust the command?
ATH 5 – ARI 6
| Athletics | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brady Basso | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Geoff Hartlieb | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 15% CSW |
| José Suarez | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Elvis Alvarado | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| Hogan Harris | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Luis Medina – L (2) | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
- José Suarez has been pitching well for the A’s, but not much has changed in his profile, and this is his fourth team this season.
| Arizona Diamondbacks | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Taylor Clarke – HLD (12) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 8% CSW |
| Juan Morillo – HLD (11) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Ryan Thompson – HLD (7) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
| Paul Sewald – BS (2) | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 41% CSW |
| Kevin Ginkel – W (4) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
- Paul Sewald got burned by the long ball once again here, although this was just his second blown save all season. After getting two outs, he left a sweeper up to Walton (could have been caught) before Wilson jumped on a fastball up and in for the tying home run. Not fully panicking, but Sewald needs to bounce back strong this week.
CIN 4 – SEA 2
| Cincinnati Reds | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sam Moll – HLD (4) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Tejay Antone – HLD (4) | 1.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 4 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Brock Burke – HLD (10) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 13% CSW |
| Julian Garcia – HLD (1) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Emilio Pagán – SV (8) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 45% CSW |
- Emilio Pagán looks a lot better recently, and as long as he sticks with the Reds, he should be in line for save chances the rest of the way.
| Seattle Mariners | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| José A. Ferrer | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
| Michael Rucker | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
- Michael Rucker tried sneaking a 2-1 fastball by Lowe, which he took the other way for a home run, but otherwise looked good here.
