Emmanuel Clase, Bryan Abreu, Lucas Erceg, Tanner Scott, and Devin Williams all had three SV+HLDs this past week, with Clase picking up 4 (in four consecutive days). Mostly the usual suspects here, with two of the top closers in baseball, a top set-up man in Abreu, and two of the more coveted relievers at the deadline in Scott and Erceg. Erceg should see plenty of SV+HLD chances with the Royals down the stretch as he is truly the only reliever on that roster that is trustworthy at the moment.
Notes
- Bryan Hudson, Reed Garrett, Nate Pearson, Kyle Nicolas, Tyler Ferguson, Joe Mantiply, and José Buttó were all added to the list. Hudson, and Garrett returned from the IL this past week. Pearson still has tantalizing upside and has pitched well for the Cubs. Nicolas should be moving up the pecking order in Pittsburgh with Hunter Stratton demoted and David Bednar struggling. Mantiply picked up 3 holds over the past 9 days and Butto has been thriving in a relief role (but don’t expect a ton of holds).
- Hunter Harvey, Camilo Doval, Josh Sborz, A.J. Minter, Lucas Sims, José Leclerc, and John Brebbia all fell off the list this week. Harvey, Sborz, and Minter all landed on the IL this past week, while Doval was optioned to AAA. Sims has allowed 5 earned runs over 6 innings since joining the Red Sox and Leclerc has now allowed 9 earned runs over his past 6.2 innings of work. Brebbia and the White Sox have no fantasy value.
- Ryan Helsley and Emmanuel Clase continue to be neck and neck in the SV+HLD total column, with each of them sitting at 37 for the season now. Yennier Cano remains in 3rd with 32 SV+HLD’s on the season, with a whopping 27 of them being holds.
