Porter Hodge, Grant Holman, Raisel Iglesias, Tyler Kinley, Jared Koenig, Chris Martin, Joel Payamps, Evan Phillips, and Drew Smyly all had three SV+HLDs this past week. Holman is an intriguing fastball/changeup relief prospect in the A’s organization. Despite the tough season, Kinley has pitched much better as of late, but he still has Coors to deal with. Smyly isn’t consistent or good enough to crack the top 100 yet.
Notes
- Trevor Megill, Camilo Doval, Blake Treinen, Jared Koenig, Tony Santillan, Kris Bubic, Will Vest, Dedniel Núñez and Tyson Miller were all added to the list. Megill, Nunez and Treinen return from the IL while Doval returns from a brief demotion. Koenig has pitched well all year but up until this past week only had 5 SV+HLD’s on the season. Santillan and Bubic have been impressive lately as they transition into relief roles. Vest and Miller have been steady high leverage contributors despite
- Héctor Neris, Anthony Bender, Victor Vodnik, Huascar Brazoban, Austin Adams, Pete Fairbanks, Ryan Pressly, José Buttó and Joe Mantiply all fell off the list this week. Neris was DFA’d by the Cubs before signing with the Astros (where he should have limited value). Bender, Vodnik, Adams, Fairbanks, and Pressly all landed on the IL this past week. Mantiply, Butto and Brazoban are fringe top 100 options at this point and best used on a matchup basis.
- While Ryan Helsley and Emmanuel Clase continue to be neck and neck in the SV+HLD total column, Bryan Abreu has now moved into 4th with 31 holds (and 1 save) on the season, and is now leading all relievers in holds for the year. Abreu got off to a horrible start over his first 8 games of the season, but since then he’s been more or less his normal dominant self. Over his past 55 IP where Abreu has a 2.13 ERA and 1.09 WHIP, he also holds 35.4% K, and 32.6% CSW rates to go along with a 2.73 SIERA and 126 Stuff+.
