Welcome to the RP Roundup, my daily fantasy baseball article reviewing every reliever performance from the previous day.
BOS 5 – TBR 7
| Boston Red Sox | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ryan Watson | 2.0 IP | 1 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 4 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Justin Slaten | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Greg Weissert | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 67% CSW |
- Justin Slaten’s four-seamer was a problem for him yesterday, with the first single coming on a fastball down in the zone (at 97 MPH, though) before he allowed a HR to Mullins on a 1-1 middle-middle fastball at 95 MPH. Just a terrible pitch that was the only major blemish for him yesterday.
| Tampa Bay Rays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cole Sulser | 0.1 IP | 2 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 11% CSW |
| Steven Matz | 0.1 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Casey Legumina – HLD (3) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
| Garrett Cleavinger – SV (2) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
- Garrett Cleavinger still doesn’t have his normal fastball velocity, but he’s making things work by throwing more sliders. That’s OK for now, I just would feel more comfortable if he had 97+ MPH available at any time.
NYY 8 – CLE 4
| New York Yankees | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brent Headrick | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Ryan Yarbrough | 2.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- Brent Headrick has been throwing harder as of late, averaging 95.4 MPH here, and was able to work on his splitter as well. Headrick now has 55 innings out of the bullpen with the Yankees the past two seasons, with impressive numbers (2.45 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 28.5% K), and should see more hold chances moving forward.
| Cleveland Guardians | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Matt Festa | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 7% CSW |
| Codi Heuer | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 5 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Will Dion | 2.1 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 3 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
- Matt Festa’s command was nonexistent here, either missing the zone or leaving pitches over the middle of the plate. Consistent command is the next step for Festa.
WSN 10 – SFG 11
| Washington Nationals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paxton Schultz | 1.0 IP | 5 ER | 4 H | 3 BB | 1 K | 5 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
| Orlando Ribalta | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
| Gus Varland | 0.0 IP | 3 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Mitchell Parker – L (3) | 0.0 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 12% CSW |
- Oooof. Fun fact about this outing: teams trailing by at least eight runs in the eighth inning or later had lost 4,291 consecutive games, marking this the worst bullpen meltdown since May 29, 2009 (per Sportradar). We knew this bullpen was going to be historically bad, and it’s a shame they didn’t invest some money in the bullpen this offseason.
| San Francisco Giants | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Carson Seymour | 1.1 IP | 4 ER | 5 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Reiver Sanmartin – W (1) | 2.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
- We haven’t seen Reiver Sanmartin since 2023, and unfortunately, I don’t think this profile is going to be worth chasing.
CIN 4 – SDP 5
| Cincinnati Reds | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zach Maxwell – HLD (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Caleb Ferguson – HLD (1) | 0.1 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Tony Santillan – BS (4) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Chase Petty – L (1) | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
- Ugh, the Reds bullpen won the battle Tuesday, but the Padres bounced back here. One potential positive is Zach Maxwell having better fastball command here. Not great, but better.
| San Diego Padres | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ron Marinaccio | 1.1 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Wandy Peralta – W (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
- Blegh
SEA 2 – BAL 7
| Baltimore Orioles | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grant Wolfram | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 15% CSW |
| Yennier Cano | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 46% CSW |
- I thought Grant Wolfram might be the left-handed answer in this bullpen, but the stuff was down here, and there was no command.
LAD 8 – PIT 9
| Los Angeles Dodgers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alex Vesia – HLD (9) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
| Kyle Hurt – L (1) | 0.1 IP | 4 ER | 3 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Jack Dreyer | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 12% CSW |
- This one hurt, for Kyle Hurt. The past month has not been great for him, with a 7.84 ERA (4.77 SIERA), 1.84 WHIP, and a 6.4% K-BB rate over his past 10.1 innings. We’ve seen a drop-off in stuff as well, so I think we can move on from him at this point.
| Pittsburgh Pirates | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Carmen Mlodzinski | 3.2 IP | 4 ER | 3 H | 3 BB | 3 K | 8 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Evan Sisk – W (1) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Gregory Soto – SV (9) | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
- Gregory Soto allowed a single on a chopper to Rojas before leaving a fastball down over the plate to Ohtani for a two-run home run, which made things interesting. It’s Ohtani, it will happen if you miss locations, but other than that, pitch Soto looked just fine here.
MIN 6 – DET 4
| Minnesota Twins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Taylor Rogers – W (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Andrew Morris – HLD (8) | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 3 K | 5 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Travis Adams – HLD (1) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 3 K | 6 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Anthony Banda – HLD (9) | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Yoendrys Gómez – SV (5) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
- The Twins were able to get the ball to Yoendrys Gómez in the ninth for a save, which was nice to see. Gómez made things interesting with two singles and a walk (also getting a 408-foot fly ball out that’s a home run in almost half the ballparks in baseball) before beating Greene with three straight fastballs to end it. I’m not worried about the stuff with Gómez, it’s just the inconsistent command that can haunt him from time to time. Hopefully, we will at least see some role stability moving forward.
| Detroit Tigers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brenan Hanifee | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Ty Madden | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Drew Sommers | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 18% CSW |
| Beau Brieske | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
- There was a time when I was high on Beau Brieske, but this is a different guy. With Skubal, Mize, and Jansen due back this weekend, I’d imagine we see three of the guys who pitched here sent down to AAA, and my pick to stay would be Drew Sommers.
ARI 0 – MIA 8
| Arizona Diamondbacks | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jonathan Loáisiga | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Drey Jameson | 2.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| Juan Morillo | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 60% CSW |
- Drey Jameson’s fastball velocity was way down here in the 95 MPH range, and that’s probably not going to cut it as he doesn’t have any great offspeed pitches in that arsenal right now to afford losing his fastball.
| Miami Marlins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lake Bachar | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 3 K | 3 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| William Kempner – W (1) | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 3 K | 6 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Cade Gibson | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
- I think (and actually thought) the Marlins should give Lake Bachar a chance to be a traditional starter, but it looks like he’ll continue being a long reliever.
PHI 7 – TOR 4
| Philadelphia Phillies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jonathan Bowlan | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Chase Shugart | 0.1 IP | 3 ER | 1 H | 3 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| Brad Keller – HLD (13) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| José Alvarado – HLD (8) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 47% CSW |
| Jhoan Duran – SV (17) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
- Jhoan Duran bounced back here as expected, and he didn’t even throw one fastball as he just went splitter/sweeper to get through this one. Just a reminder of how deep his arsenal really is.
| Toronto Blue Jays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mason Fluharty | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Tommy Nance | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| Jeff Hoffman | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| Braydon Fisher | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 15% CSW |
| Spencer Miles | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Tyler Rogers | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- The Blue Jays used almost their entire bullpen here, and perhaps the best performance came from Spencer Miles. He’s back in the bullpen now after getting some spot starts, and I could see his stuff playing up in these shorter bursts. He has two good breakers and could follow a similar path to Nance and Fisher as a breaker first reliever. He just needs to command his sinker, given how hittable it can be.
STL 9 – NYM 2
| St. Louis Cardinals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Matt Svanson | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| JoJo Romero | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
- Another good outing for Matt Svanson, but similar to Miles, the sinker is just super hittable, so the key will come down to him locating it well and not leaving it vulnerable.
| New York Mets | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| David Peterson | 3.2 IP | 6 ER | 7 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Cionel Pérez | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 4 Whiffs | 56% CSW |
| Jonathan Pintaro | 3.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
- Jonathan Pintaro has an interesting cutter, I’m just not sure what else he has to go with it. The changeup might be OK, but just like with Svanson and Miles, the sinker is not great.
TEX 6 – KCR 4
| Texas Rangers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peyton Gray | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 10% CSW |
| Tyler Alexander | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Jakob Junis – W (1) | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 4 Whiffs | 48% CSW |
| Jacob Latz – SV (10) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- Jacob Latz allowed a single on the first pitch he threw (slider to Caglianone) and then walked Loftin on 8 pitches before bearing down and getting a strikeout and double play to end the game. The fastball command was non-existent, but he was averaging 97 MPH here (hit 98.1 MPH on his strikeout of Collins), which is crazy for him.
| Kansas City Royals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mason Black | 1.2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Steven Cruz | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Matt Strahm – BS (2) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Lucas Erceg – HLD (2) | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Daniel Lynch IV – BS (2) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 18% CSW |
| John Schreiber | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
| Alex Lange – L (3) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
- This is just how things will be with Alex Lange as the closer. He’ll close things out more often than not despite making things interesting, but extra-inning outings with the ghost runner are another story.
ATL 1 – CHW 2
| Atlanta Braves | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Didier Fuentes | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Dylan Lee | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 100% CSW |
| James Karinchak | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 37% CSW |
- It has been a while since we last saw James Karinchak (2023), and he still definitely has that quality curve/fastball combo, but what is the command/walk rate going to look like? Not that this bullpen needs another late-inning weapon, but if Karinchak can show any semblance of command with this mix…

| Chicago White Sox | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sean Newcomb – HLD (5) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Seranthony Domínguez – HLD (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| Bryan Hudson – SV (3) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 12% CSW |
- Another Seranthony Domínguez eighth-inning appearance here is interesting, even without Grant Taylor pitching in this one. Bryan Hudson was called upon to close things out, and his fastball velocity was up a MPH as a result. There may be a three (four with Newcomb?) headed late-inning committee, but I’d still bet on Taylor getting the most save chances of the bunch moving forward.
CHC 2 – COL 3
| Chicago Cubs | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Phil Maton – HLD (4) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
| Caleb Thielbar – HLD (3) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
| Jacob Webb – BS (3) | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Daniel Palencia – L (1) | 0.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 11% CSW |
- It’s Coors, so I wouldn’t take any of these two seriously. Webb and Palencia’s stuff/command were down, while Thielbar looked great, so again, don’t read too much into Coors outings.
| Colorado Rockies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brennan Bernardino | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Juan Mejia | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
| Jeff Criswell | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 5 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Antonio Senzatela – W (6) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- Antonio Senzatela has allowed at least one baserunner in his past 12 appearances, with a 3.54 ERA (4.43 SIERA), 1.33 WHIP, and 16.5% K rate over that span (20.1 IP). If he were getting every save for the Rockies, you can live with those numbers in deeper formats, but this just isn’t worth it.
MIL 3 – ATH 4
| Milwaukee Brewers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chad Patrick – L (3) | 0.0 IP | 3 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
| Aaron Ashby | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
| Trevor Megill | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
- Good to see Trevor Megill healthy here and throwing harder than he has all season (OK, that Vegas radar gun may be juiced). He survived Vegas and now gets to go back to Milwaukee, where the ballpark plays (a lot) more normally.
| Athletics | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Luis Medina | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 43% CSW |
| José Suarez | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Scott Barlow – W (2) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| Hogan Harris – HLD (10) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Elvis Alvarado – SV (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
- Cracked radar gun or not, it’s hard not to be impressed with Elvis Alvarado this series. He was averaging 100 MPH again here, and the slider was nasty. The fastball command has been much better, so hopefully that’s here to stay (the results at AAA suggest it may be). There’s no reason to think he can’t run away with the closer role here if the stuff/command gains stick.
HOU 2 – LAA 3
| Houston Astros | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Enyel De Los Santos | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 15% CSW |
| Bryan King | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 67% CSW |
| Josh Hader | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Bryan Abreu – L (3) | 0.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- Bryan Abreu’s strange season continues, as he failed to get an out here. He allowed a single to Walton on a 94 MPH fastball before allowing a single to Siri on a 98 MPH fastball. Why is this huge velocity gap still a thing?
| Los Angeles Angels | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chase Silseth – BS (3) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 53% CSW |
| Sam Bachman | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 56% CSW |
| Ryan Zeferjahn – W (3) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- Sam Bachman had a weird outing here, as his last two pitches were both hits. He allowed a single to Yordan on a fastball he probably wanted out of the zone, while he left a first-pitch slider over the plate to Walker that he doubled down the line on. Yordan was thrown out at home in one of the more bizarre plays you’ll see, but Bachman saved the day by backing up home plate despite there not originally being a play at the plate.
- Ryan Zeferjahn had his best outing in a while, with his best fastball and better command than we are used to seeing. Is he getting back into the saves mix here potentially?
