Jack Sinclair — Sinker down 0.8 MPH (95.2 vs. 96.0 season avg). Sinclair has a wicked sweeper and slider from his low armslot, but the sinker ain’t exactly terrible either. Not a true closer type (lefties are going to give him problems), but he should dominate righties at least.

David Bednar — Splitter usage 78% (+38 pts vs. 40% usual); Four-Seamer usage 11% (-30 pts vs. 41% usual). I’m scared Bednar has lost faith in this fastball. He threw 14 splitters here, 2 curveballs, and 2 fastballs, and this is no way to live.

Brody Hopkins made his MLB debut here, and ignore the stat line because the stuff is legit. He walked the first batter, and somehow Paredes pulled a 100 MPH fastball up and in down the line for a home run (very Paredes-coded HR). I know Hopkins will be treated as a starter next spring, but he could be a closer right now with his fastball/curveball.

Tanner Scott was called on to clean up Henriquez’s mess in the bottom of the 8th inning, which he did by striking out Conine, but the ninth inning then got to him. To be fair, it was two infield singles to start things off (first one should have been an error, second one was a bunt hit), followed by Sanoja ripping a slider down and in down the line for a double. Stewart then entered and gave up a three-run homer to Ramirez. Bad luck? Sure, but does this open the door for Evan Phillips save chances down the stretch?

Prior to that, he was 47.5% fastball, 27% cutter, 16.5% curveball, and 9% changeup. Since he started throwing that slider, he holds a 1.91 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 28.5% K rate.

Weird (mostly bad) things happen at Sutter Health Park for pitchers. Muñoz had to enter in the eighth to get the final two outs of the inning, but gave up a single to Gelof to start the ninth before falling behind Butler 3-0 and grooving a middle-middle fastball to Butler, who took him deep to right for the walk-off homer. Nothing to panic about here, just a bad command day.
