Welcome to the RP Roundup, my daily fantasy baseball article reviewing every reliever performance from the previous day.
DET 1 – CHW 7
| Detroit Tigers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Beau Brieske | 1.1 IP | 3 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 6 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
- Beau Brieske is back, and the velo looks OK at least, shapes not great, and the offspeed is average-ish. Not worth considering at this point, but a name to keep an eye on in this bleak Tigers bullpen.
| Chicago White Sox | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grant Taylor – HLD (4) | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 4 K | 4 Whiffs | 39% CSW |
| Seranthony Domínguez – HLD (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Trevor Richards | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
- Seranthony Domínguez got the 8th inning to face the 2-3-4 hitters in the Tigers lineup, which probably would have led to a Bryan Hudson save chance had the game stayed 4-1. Between Seranthony, Hudson, and Grant Taylor, the specific usage could vary game to game.
SDP 4 – WSN 9
| San Diego Padres | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bradgley Rodriguez – BS (2) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Wandy Peralta | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- Tough luck blown save for Bradgley Rodriguez here, who looked good despite the stat line. The problem is that he won’t see hold chances with this bullpen at full strength, so it’s hard to roster him in redraft holds leagues.
| Washington Nationals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brad Lord – W (3) | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Gus Varland | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 3 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Clayton Beeter – SV (3) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
- Clayton Beeter had a bit better velocity here, and I guess he’s a slightly better option than Gus Varland for saves, but I still wouldn’t advocate for either one in this messy bullpen. Only 6 of Beeter’s 22 pitches here were in the strike zone, with 13 pitches not even remotely close to the zone (3 balls were kind of close).
KCR 6 – TEX 7
| Kansas City Royals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alex Lange – HLD (1) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Daniel Lynch IV – HLD (7) | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| John Schreiber – HLD (3) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Lucas Erceg – L (3) | 0.0 IP | 3 ER | 5 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
- This should be the last save chance Lucas Erceg sees, but the alternatives (or lack thereof) could make that tricky. Even Daniel Lynch IV had to get bailed out by John Schreiber here. Erceg started things off by hanging a 1-2 changeup middle-middle to Pederson for a home run, and then proceeded to allow four straight singles. The singles were a bit unlucky (definitely a Singled Out situation), but that’s bound to happen when you don’t have swing and miss stuff.
| Texas Rangers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tyler Alexander – HLD (5) | 0.1 IP | 3 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Jakob Junis – BS (1) | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 46% CSW |
| Chris Martin | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
| Peyton Gray – W (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 37% CSW |
- The veterans here are not worth chasing, and Peyton Gray’s changeup is interesting, but the fastball is meh.
TOR 5 – BAL 6
| Toronto Blue Jays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yariel Rodriguez – HLD (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Tyler Rogers – HLD (11) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 44% CSW |
| Louis Varland – HLD (5) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Jeff Hoffman – L (4) | 0.1 IP | 5 ER | 3 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Connor Seabold – BS (1) | 0.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
- John Schneider is going to want this one back. He clearly wants to get Jeff Hoffman back in the ninth inning, and I get it; his past six outings have been great, and he’s been wildly unlucky all year. Things started well, as he got an easy strikeout of Basallo before it all unraveled. He then hit Mayo, allowed a triple to Taveras (could have been called a single and E9), followed by a bloop single and double into the RF corner. By that point, he was cooked mentally and finished the outing with two walks on 9 pitches. I still believe Hoffman can be an effective reliever in a setup/fireman role, but can we please move on from him in the ninth now?
| Baltimore Orioles | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Anthony Nunez | 0.1 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Keegan Akin | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Albert Suárez – W (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
- Anthony Nunez is struggling in low-leverage spots now, and I wonder if he’ll be sent back to AAA soon. The command is not there, and the stuff’s trending the wrong way, too.
MIN 9 – PIT 10
| Minnesota Twins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kody Funderburk | 1.1 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| John Klein | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 3 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
- Meh
| Pittsburgh Pirates | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yohan Ramírez – W (3) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Evan Sisk – HLD (3) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Dennis Santana – HLD (4) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 71% CSW |
| Mason Montgomery – HLD (7) | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 16% CSW |
| Gregory Soto – SV (7) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
- Dennis Santana didn’t throw one fastball here; five sliders (2 of which were in the zone) with one changeup and one cutter out of the zone worked here. This approach isn’t sustainable.
- Things were going great for Mason Montgomery, but the command took a big step back here (and the velo was down over 1 MPH). He went full Ryne Stanek with most pitches located in the strike zone, being middle-middle (8), with the pitches out of the strike zone way out of the zone (15). That leaves five quality pitches thrown here by Montgomery. Hopefully, this is just a blip and not the beginning of a trend.
BOS 9 – CLE 1
| Boston Red Sox | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tyron Guerrero – HLD (2) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 57% CSW |
| Justin Slaten – HLD (6) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 48% CSW |
| Danny Coulombe | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 62% CSW |
- Good to see Justin Slaten again, as it’s been a while since he last pitched. The velocity was back up in the 97 MPH range, and the cutter/sweeper looked great. The inconsistency is maddening, but if he has this type of stuff each outing, he’s pushing elite territory.
| Cleveland Guardians | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Matt Festa – L (1) | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Codi Heuer | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 34% CSW |
| Shawn Armstrong | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| Will Dion | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- Shawn Armstrong sweeper is still a good pitch; the three fastballs are what can cause problems for him. Could just be a sequencing issue, but he’s not easy to trust right now.
LAA 14 – TBR 3
| Los Angeles Angels | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jose Fermin – HLD (3) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 15% CSW |
| Sam Bachman – HLD (10) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
| Chase Silseth | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Drew Pomeranz | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 18% CSW |
- Sam Bachman entering in the 6th doesn’t help my hope for him to be the closer here, as it seems the team is determined to ride with Kirby Yates in that role until the wheels fall off. Fwiw, Bachman’s stuff looked great here.
| Tampa Bay Rays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Casey Legumina | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
| Garrett Cleavinger | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
| Ian Seymour | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 39% CSW |
| Andrew Wantz | 1.2 IP | 5 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Cole Sulser | 0.1 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
- Garrett Cleavinger’s velocity was down again here as his frustrating 2026 continues.
MIA 1 – NYM 6
| Miami Marlins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lake Bachar | 2.0 IP | 3 ER | 4 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 7 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| William Kempner | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- William Kempner’s fastball/sweeper are back up. Just throw enough strikes, please.
| New York Mets | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cionel Pérez – HLD (5) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
| Huascar Brazobán – HLD (4) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 3 Whiffs | 44% CSW |
| Austin Warren | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
| Devin Williams | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
- Devin Williams had a much-needed clean outing here and even mixed in a decent slider.
MIL 2 – HOU 9
| Milwaukee Brewers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Carlos Rodríguez | 3.1 IP | 3 ER | 5 H | 2 BB | 3 K | 8 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| Jake Woodford | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- Nope.
| Houston Astros | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AJ Blubaugh – HLD (4) | 3.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 4 K | 7 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Logan VanWey | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 46% CSW |
- Logan VanWey is finally back, and I think there could be something here as this team desperately searches for right-handed relief help. The sweeper is great, and the fastball is at least average.
CHC 6 – STL 1
| Chicago Cubs | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jacob Webb – HLD (3) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Daniel Palencia | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
- Daniel Palencia will eventually get a save chance again, I promise. The Cubs have generated the lowest amount of SV+HLD chances to date, but that should change.
| St. Louis Cardinals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ryan Fernandez – L (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 5 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Justin Bruihl | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Gordon Graceffo | 1.2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
| Matt Pushard | 1.2 IP | 1 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
- Nothing to see here.
ATL 5 – CIN 2
| Atlanta Braves | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tyler Kinley – HLD (7) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
| Dylan Lee – HLD (10) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Robert Suarez – HLD (8) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 12% CSW |
| Raisel Iglesias – SV (10) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- Raisel Iglesias continues his dominant run, and we saw his velocity up 1 MPH here as well. If he can keep that velocity in the 95+ MPH range with his changeup (and occasional slider), he should be a safe bet to hang on to the closer role all year.
| Cincinnati Reds | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tejay Antone | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Brock Burke | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Tony Santillan | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
| Lyon Richardson | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Sam Moll | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 100% CSW |
- Lyon Richardson is back with the big league club due to the rash of injuries the Reds bullpen has had to deal with. He’s not someone worth investing in right now, though.
SFG 3 – COL 8
| San Francisco Giants | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sam Hentges | 1.1 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| JT Brubaker | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Ryan Borucki | 2.0 IP | 3 ER | 4 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 10% CSW |
- Ryan Borucki was designated for assignment after this one, and I get it. The slider should at least get him another look somewhere else.
| Colorado Rockies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brennan Bernardino | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Blas Castano | 2.0 IP | 3 ER | 4 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- Blah(s)
NYY 4 – ATH 6
| New York Yankees | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Camilo Doval | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
| Jake Bird | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
- Jake Bird had been pitching better up until his past two outings, where he’s been hit around a bit. The fastball may just not be good enough.
| Athletics | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hogan Harris – HLD (9) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
| Justin Sterner | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 6% CSW |
| Jack Perkins | 0.2 IP | 3 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
| Scott Barlow – SV (2) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 3 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
- I was thinking Jack Perkins might get a look in the rotation with Severino out, but the A’s were hoping he could pitch a clean 9th with a five-run lead, maybe to get him some confidence to return to the closer role? It did not work out as Perkins had no command here, but I get why the team would push for him to be their closer. He’s clearly got the best stuff in this bullpen.
ARI 1 – SEA 5
| Arizona Diamondbacks | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ryan Thompson | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Taylor Clarke | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
- Taylor Clarke leaned on his changeup here, probably his best pitch from a “stuff “standpoint, and gives him a chance against lefties and righties.
| Seattle Mariners | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cooper Criswell | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 10% CSW |
| Alex Hoppe | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 18% CSW |
- Noppe
PHI 4 – LAD 3
| Philadelphia Phillies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| José Alvarado | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Orion Kerkering – W (3) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 48% CSW |
| Brad Keller – HLD (8) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Jhoan Duran – SV (12) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
- Orion Kerkering made two bad 0-2 pitches here (a sweeper he hung to Pages and a sinker he left up to Betts), but the stuff was incredible. The fastball velocity was way up (99 MPH sinkers?!), which could be a result of him being overly amped up here due to what happened the last time he pitched in Dodgers Stadium. Either way, Kerkering has been great over the past month (1.68 SIERA, 0.84 WHIP, 35% K, 35% CSW rates) and will be moving up the holds list tomorrow.
| Los Angeles Dodgers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alex Vesia – HLD (8) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
| Kyle Hurt – HLD (4) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Tanner Scott – L (2) | 1.0 IP | 3 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 5 Whiffs | 37% CSW |
| Blake Treinen | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 45% CSW |
- One day after talking about how Tanner Scott has been the best reliever in baseball over the past month, we get this outing. Scott’s fastball was hit hard in this one, including a 1-2 fastball that caught too much of the plate against Sosa. This shouldn’t concern fantasy managers; just chalk it up to a good job by Phillies hitters.
