Welcome to the RP Roundup, my daily fantasy baseball article reviewing every reliever performance from the previous day.
TOR 5 – BAL 9
| Toronto Blue Jays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Adam Macko | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 37% CSW |
| Hayden Juenger | 1.0 IP | 3 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Yariel Rodriguez | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 6% CSW |
| Mason Fluharty | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 2 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
- Hayden Juenger made his debut here, and while the changeup is great, the fastball and slider are lagging.
| Baltimore Orioles | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tyler Wells | 1.0 IP | 4 ER | 4 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Rico Garcia | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- Not a great time for Tyler Wells to fall apart, as this Orioles bullpen is struggling to find consistency in front of Rico Garcia right now.
SDP 2 – WSN 4
| San Diego Padres | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yuki Matsui | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 5 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
| Jeremiah Estrada | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Adrian Morejon | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Jason Adam | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
- Officially concerned about Jeremiah Estrada again. The velocity (and command) has fallen back to where it was at was earlier in the season. Another IL stint could be incoming.

| Washington Nationals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Orlando Ribalta – HLD (2) | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Clayton Beeter – SV (4) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
- Back-to-back saves for Clayton Beeter, and he still does not look very good, but this Padres lineup is pretty helpless right now (team average is .200 over the past month). The command was better here, at least, but at what point do we worry about the velocity decline?

MIN 3 – PIT 9
| Minnesota Twins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mike Paredes | 3.2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 3 BB | 3 K | 7 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
- Mike Paredes made his debut here, and the fastball is terrible, but the sweeper and changeup aren’t bad. Could be an up and down long relief type.
| Pittsburgh Pirates | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cam Sanders | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 46% CSW |
| Brandan Bidois | 2.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
- Brandan Bidois left a first-pitch fastball down and in to Lee to start the ninth here, but outside of that mistake, he looked great here. He’s close to being trustworthy, just needs consistent command now.
BOS 9 – CLE 4
| Boston Red Sox | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jovani Morán – W (1) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Tyron Guerrero | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Greg Weissert | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
| Aroldis Chapman | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
- Jovani Morán is on a nice run here, with a 1.23 ERA (0.48 SIERA), 0.27 WHIP, and 48% K-BB rate over his past 7.1 IP. A bright spot in an otherwise sad Red Sox season so far.
| Cleveland Guardians | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Colin Holderman – L (1) | 0.1 IP | 2 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 15% CSW |
| Tim Herrin – BS (1) | 0.1 IP | 3 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
| Codi Heuer | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Will Dion | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 4 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
- Colin Holderman didn’t have his best command here, and it’s a reminder that he’s not a big stuff guy anymore, so when the command goes, we are going to get some rough results occasionally.
LAA 2 – TBR 5
| Los Angeles Angels | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mitch Farris | 4.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 3 BB | 4 K | 2 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Drew Pomeranz | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Brent Suter | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
- Drew Pomeranz velocity has been down a bit since coming off the IL, but the command is the bigger issue for him. Too many middle-middle fastballs plagued him before going on the IL, and it still looks like it could be an issue.
| Tampa Bay Rays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Casey Legumina – HLD (2) | 1.2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
| Kevin Kelly – HLD (12) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
| Bryan Baker – SV (16) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 45% CSW |
- Bryan Baker’s velocity was down over a MPH here, but that could be due to the three-run lead and not needing to get to top velo (plus he only threw 3 fastballs). The only concern here is the heavy workload early on.
ATL 4 – CIN 6
| Atlanta Braves | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Didier Fuentes | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Dylan Dodd | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
| Reynaldo López | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 62% CSW |
- Reynaldo López fastball was up over a MPH, while Didier Fuentes fastball was down over a MPH. Hopefully, this is just an off day for Fuentes, but it’s good to see López’s stuff trending in the right direction. It looks like both are in the bullpen for good now (barring a rash of starter injuries/setbacks with guys rehabbing).
| Cincinnati Reds | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brock Burke – HLD (7) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
| Tony Santillan – HLD (11) | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Sam Moll – SV (1) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 10% CSW |
- Tony Santillan is back creating chaos as he got a quick out here (a fastball Riley just missed barreling) before allowing a walk, single, and while he got León to fly out, Acuna lined a single to center to keep the inning going. I don’t know who the Reds can trust in the ninth inning, but it probably shouldn’t be Santillan, right?
MIA 1 – NYM 10
| Miami Marlins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Anthony Bender | 1.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 47% CSW |
| Calvin Faucher | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Cade Gibson | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Josh White | 0.2 IP | 5 ER | 1 H | 4 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| William Kempner | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 6 Whiffs | 46% CSW |
| Javier Sanoja | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 11% CSW |
- Josh White made his debut here, and yep, that’s not going to work. The fastball and breakers are just not very good. Ekness and Kempner (his velo was way down here, though) may be worth chasing, but not White.
DET 1 – CHW 2
| Detroit Tigers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Drew Anderson – L (3) | 0.2 IP | 2 ER | 4 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Tyler Holton | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Brenan Hanifee | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 12% CSW |
- Drew Anderson is working his way out of the interim closer mix with his last two outings, so I guess we really are back to Will Vest being the guy? Anderson’s stuff wasn’t even bad here; the changeup command (and to a lesser degree, the curveball command) was just terrible.
| Chicago White Sox | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chris Murphy | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 3 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 16% CSW |
| Brandon Eisert – W (1) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Bryan Hudson – HLD (4) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Tyler Davis – SV (1) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
- Tyler Davis wound up getting the last two outs here as they didn’t want to risk a lefty facing Vierling. Could Davis eventually be a closer option down the road? Potentially, but he was only in this position because Seranthony Domínguez and Grant Taylor were off.
MIL 2 – HOU 0
| Milwaukee Brewers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Abner Uribe – HLD (6) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
| Trevor Megill – SV (8) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
- Both Abner Uribe and Trevor Megill looked great here, but Megill is clearly back in the driver’s seat as the team’s closer now. Over Megill’s last 16 innings pitched, he holds a 1.13 ERA (1.56 SIERA), 0.63 WHIP, and 38% K rate (17% SwStr, 117 Stuff+).
| Houston Astros | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alimber Santa | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Nate Pearson | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
- Alimber Santa has such a bad fastball, but he only threw it five times here. If he throws the sweeper 50% of the time, slider 30%, fastball 20%, maybe something like that can work? Can he throw enough strikes with that approach, though?
KCR 3 – TEX 6
| Kansas City Royals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steven Cruz | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Mason Black | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 45% CSW |
| Eli Morgan | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
- Is Mason Black a potential answer to the bullpen woes in Kansas City? The fastball looked better here, and the breakers looked great. If the fastball can stick around 95 MPH (with some better command), there could be something here.
| Texas Rangers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jalen Beeks | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
| Peyton Gray | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
| Gavin Collyer | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| Jacob Latz – SV (7) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 56% CSW |
- Gavin Collyer’s fastball velocity was down, and sweeper velocity was up, which is not ideal. He’s not the answer in the 7th/8th inning right now, but maybe Peyton Gray can be? The fastball looks better, and the changeups have always been solid.
SFG 19 – COL 6
| San Francisco Giants | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tristan Beck | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 12% CSW |
| Caleb Kilian – W (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Joel Peguero | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| JT Brubaker | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 12% CSW |
- We don’t love seeing Caleb Kilian in the 6th inning, but at least he pitched well in Coors. The command wasn’t great, and stuff was down, but he’ll take the clean outing and move on. Who gets the next save here, nobody knows.
| Colorado Rockies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brennan Bernardino | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
| Zach Agnos | 1.0 IP | 7 ER | 7 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
| Keegan Thompson | 2.0 IP | 3 ER | 4 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 8 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Juan Mejia | 0.2 IP | 3 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| Brett Sullivan | 1.1 IP | 2 ER | 5 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- Oh Rockies.
NYY 13 – ATH 8
| New York Yankees | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tim Hill | 1.0 IP | 4 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 15% CSW |
| Fernando Cruz | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| David Bednar | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 16% CSW |
- No curveballs from David Bednar here…but the fastball command was a mess. Despite how bad his curveball is, it was the one pitch he could throw for a strike, so I don’t think he can totally get rid of it. The usage just needs to come down.
| Athletics | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Michael Kelly | 0.2 IP | 6 ER | 6 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Jack Perkins | 2.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 37% CSW |
| Mark Leiter Jr. | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Luis Medina | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 4 K | 7 Whiffs | 59% CSW |
| José Suarez | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- This game was over early on, but that’s an intriguing line from Luis Medina. I still can’t fully get behind this, though, as the stuff is not great (everything is below average), but maybe he has a deep enough arsenal to keep hitters off balance more often than not?
ARI 2 – SEA 3
| Arizona Diamondbacks | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kevin Ginkel | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Brandyn Garcia | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
| Juan Morillo | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 5 K | 10 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
| Jonathan Loáisiga – L (2) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
- Juan Morillo looks fine to me, I don’t know what we were worried about. I actually can’t believe the amount of whiffs Morillo racked up here as his velocity was down nearly 1 MPH, and he threw 24 fastballs in this 31-pitch (only 10 pitches in the zone) outing. Also, only 10 pitches were in the zone here, with five of them middle-middle. This was actually maybe the worst Morillo has looked this year, but I won’t argue with 10 whiffs, right?
| Seattle Mariners | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Luis Castillo – W (2) | 5.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 3 K | 9 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
- No relievers pitched here.
PHI 1 – LAD 9
| Philadelphia Phillies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tanner Banks | 1.2 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Chase Shugart | 1.2 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Nolan Hoffman | 1.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
- Meh
| Los Angeles Dodgers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Will Klein | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
| Edgardo Henriquez | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 12% CSW |
| Jonathan Hernández | 2.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
- No whiffs, but Edgardo Henriquez was averaging 102 MPH with his fastball here. He’s still a work in progress, but the potential is off the charts.
CHC 1 – STL 5
| Chicago Cubs | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ethan Roberts | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
| Trent Thornton | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 5 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
| Phil Maton | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Ryan Rolison | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 3 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
- More sinkers than cutters from Phil Maton here. Maybe it’s surprising hitters for now, but that sinker is not a pitch I’d want to see him fall in love with. Playing it off the cutter occasionally could work, though.
| St. Louis Cardinals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hunter Dobbins – SV (1) | 3.2 IP | 1 ER | 4 H | 0 BB | 4 K | 7 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
- Good to see Hunter Dobbins back on an MLB roster, and I’d imagine he works his way into the rotation sooner rather than later. He’s probably a better option than Leahy, Pallante, or McGreevy.
