Gregory Soto is still hanging on to save chances, it appears, although he and Mason Montgomery both picked up one today in the doubleheader. I’d still lean Montgomery if I had to pick one.

Abner Uribe was throwing 100 MPH here, and it was needed as he had no control over his slider.

As mentioned above, I’m leaning towards Mason Montgomery as the reliever to roster here, but we may see Soto get one last crack at the role before the team fully commits.

José Fermin was sitting 98 MPH here, and the slider looked good. Just another one of the many Cherry Bomb’s in the Angels bullpen.

Yoendrys Gómez doesn’t have an elite fastball, but it was cool seeing it up 2 MPH here and his sweeper getting three whiffs.

Luis Medina was throwing harder here (99 MPH), and it brings his overall stuff profile closer to average. Just doesn’t really do it for me.

Chicago White Sox

Grant Taylor with another save, and at this point it’s hard to imagine anyone else in this bullpen getting more save chances the rest of the way.

We may be headed towards a closer committee here again with JT Brubaker getting a save here, but even with his sinker up a MPH, the stuff is still terrible.

NYY 4 – WSN 2

David Bednar went 8/11 splitters here as he faced only lefties, and honestly, I’m fine with that as the results proved this can work.

Washington Nationals

Clayton Beeter’s fastball actually looked fine here; he just made the one mistake to Goldschmidt (Grisham was just sitting on a fastball at the top of the zone). This bullpen continues to have no answers.

Greg Weissert has looked a bit better as of late, but there’s no reason for him to see any leverage usage as long as everyone else in this bullpen is healthy.

Brooks Raley continues his positive trend of outings as his sinker was up nearly a MPH here again. Building a nice trade market for himself.

Gabe Speier gave up a home run on the first pitch he threw to Vilade, but he’s throwing harder, and the stuff continues to trend up.

Tampa Bay Rays

Cam Booser got a bit lucky here, but the fastball/sweeper duo can definitely be effective, and I’m not sure how much confidence the team has in Garrett Cleavinger (whose fastball was down a MPH again), so Booser could continue to see hold chances.

CLE 4 – MIA 1

Franco Aleman looks great since being called up, but can he work his way into consistent hold opportunities in this deep bullpen? Still worth a look in deeper formats.

Miami Marlins

Cade Gibson has some great breakers, but the fastball is not up to par. They’ll still be leaning on him as the top lefty with Nardi and King out.

PHI 4 – DET 2

Philadelphia Phillies

I don’t care that Jonathan Bowlan had poor command here, I’m just loving this recent eighth-inning setup usage.

Tyler Wells in the ninth up five runs is kind of closer usage, I suppose? He looked good here even without needing to throw a fastball.

AJ Blubaugh’s stuff keeps fluctuating, and the fastball was even up today, but the results weren’t great. His upside is evident, but the production has been frustrating to say the least.

Texas Rangers

We saw mostly fastballs (16) and sweepers (6) from Gavin Collyer here, with his cutter usage down, and I think this may be the way moving forward for him.

Jacob Webb may be splitting the closer role with Trent Thornton and others, but at least Webb has been steady lately, and his fastball was even up a MPH here. Still my favorite reliever to roster here.

Tejay Antone fastball was down here (only 2 thrown), but as long as the breakers are working, he should keep cruising.

Riley O’Brien keeps surviving, even with his sinker down a MPH again. He’s holding a 4.4% K-BB rate over his past 20+ IP, so just continue to proceed with caution.
