Gregory Soto showing some signs of life here with his sinker up 1.5 MPH and generating a whiff with that sweeper. Mason Montgomery is still the better arm, but Soto is not out yet.

David Bednar had his best velocity of the season here, sitting 97.5 MPH, which is great to see, but the command was not so great as he landed just 5 of his 22 pitches in the zone (the other 17 pitches were not particularly close).

Yohan Ramírez had his sinker up over a MPH here, and the stuff still looks electric; we just need some consistency in the command department.

New York Yankees

Will Warren, of all people, came out for the save chance in this one, and while he’s going to get a start this weekend, we did get a glimpse of what he may look like as a reliever, which could happen once the Yankees rotation gets back to full strength. Warren (and Ryan Weathers) could both be great relievers, especially in the postseason.

BAL 3 – BOS 6

Baltimore Orioles

Anthony Nunez has been more good than bad since returning from the minors earlier this month, and he still has a bright future, but what’s his role the rest of 2026 going to look like?

Aroldis Chapman leaned on his four-seamer here and, despite some hard contact, was able to survive and preserve another win for the Red Sox.

This appears to be the late-inning trio the Orioles are running with, with Wells in the 9th, Kittredge in the 8th, and Cano in the 7th more often than not. That leaves Rico Garcia as the odd man out, unfortunately, but he has not been the same guy recently, so I get it (although neither has Cano).

Keaton Winn may be headed back to the IL because he does not look right. Velocity is way down, and the command is terrible right now.

Kansas City Royals

Steven Cruz finally gets his first save here, and despite the home run to Schmitt (home runs are definitely an issue for Cruz), he looked great getting there. The fastball was up over a MPH, sitting 99.3 MPH (#SaveChanceEnergy), and the slider got a nasty whiff on Ramos too. With the Royals out of postseason contention, why not let Cruz run with this job?

NYM 3 – MIL 4

New York Mets

A.J. Minter has some increased velocity here in all three of his fastballs, which was nice to see. He’s still not quite the same guy he was with the Braves, unfortunately.

Milwaukee Brewers

Trevor Megill gave up his first run since June 5th here, but he’s still allowed just 5 earned runs since April 14th. A leadoff walk and hanging breaker got him here, but he should be just fine moving forward.

WSN 8 – COL 0

Washington Nationals

Eddy Yean could be a decent reliever, but I’d like to see him more outside of Coors to get a better read on what he’s working with. Max Kranick is not the guy we were excited about last spring; you don’t need to go chasing him.

Colorado Rockies

Brennan Bernardino should be able to land the Rockies a nice prospect at the deadline, but I’m not rostering him in Colorado.

Jonathan Loáisiga has been on a nice run lately, so don’t be discouraged by the usage in a blowout here.

Emilio Pagán did not have the same fastball here as he had the night before, but still got through this outing unfazed.

Seattle Mariners

Cole Wilcox again went sweeper over the slider here, and I’m liking it…for now. It’s not like the slider was a bad pitch.

St. Louis Cardinals

Riley O’Brien’s sinker was down even more today as he was sitting just 96.6 MPH. Despite that and the atrocious command, he managed to strike out the side (Peraza, Lowe, and Grissom). The wheels haven’t completely fallen off, but I’m not sure this story has a happy ending.

Los Angeles Angels

Kirby Yates with a bounce-back outing he desperately needed, and in a leverage-y situation as well. The stuff has improved, but there’s also a good chance he’s just a middle reliever for a team after the deadline.

Erik Sabrowski had some extra life on his fastball here, and this stat line looks much more like the guy we saw in April. Let’s see more of this, please and thank you.

Alex McFarlane could be a fun relief prospect to dream on as his fastball was sitting at 100.1 here and he has two devastating breakers. The command is a work in progress, but the stuff is legit.

Bryan Baker’s fastball was down nearly 2 MPH here, which is definitely a concerning number, but his velo has bounced up and down for most of the season to date. Now, if he’s down 2 MPH on his next outing as well, we should be legitimately concerned.

I don’t love the order of things here, but at least Grant Taylor was dominant (as were Jordan Hicks and Bryan Hudson). It was what it is at this point with Taylor.

Robby Ahlstrom has looked better lately, and maybe we could see him take over as the top lefty in front of Latz. I’m not sure the stuff is really all that great, though.

Kyle Finnegan upped his slider usage here, and it’s not a good pitch, but getting an even mix between his three offerings might be the answer for him to have success again.

Chicago Cubs

I think it’s time for the Cubs to trust Ryan Rolison and Gavin Hollowell in more leverage situations instead of Ferguson and Thornton.

Calvin Faucher needed this type of clean outing, as 2026 has been a nightmare for him, especially lately.
