Welcome to the RP Roundup, my daily fantasy baseball article reviewing every reliever performance from the previous day.
MIL 5 – PIT 14
| Milwaukee Brewers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jared Koenig | 0.0 IP | 5 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 10% CSW |
| Grant Anderson | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Craig Yoho | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Bryse Wilson | 3.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 4 K | 9 Whiffs | 37% CSW |
- Grant Anderson has been throwing harder lately, but it’s not exactly leading to more success. He has legit competition now in Craig Yoho for that right-handed setup role in front of Uribe and Megill.
| Pittsburgh Pirates | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Isaac Mattson | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Antwone Kelly | 2.0 IP | 3 ER | 4 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
| Brandon Eisert | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 10% CSW |
- Antwone Kelly is back up with the Pirates, and the stuff still looks the part; he just had some bad locations here (slider down and in to Turang, four-seamer down to Mitchell). I’d love to see guys like Kelly and Bidois get an extended look over the final two months for them.
KCR 2 – BAL 8
| Kansas City Royals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steven Cruz | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Matt Strahm – L (3) | 0.1 IP | 5 ER | 4 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 5 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| John Schreiber | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 45% CSW |
| Lucas Erceg | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Beck Way | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
- Lucas Erceg is still struggling to figure things out, but his fastball was up a bit here to 97.5 MPH, and the changeup Basalo hit out wasn’t even a bad pitch (changeup down and away off the plate). Who leads this team in saves after the break remains up in the air, but I don’t think I’d bet on Erceg being that guy.
| Baltimore Orioles | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Anthony Nunez | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 43% CSW |
| Grant Wolfram – W (2) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 0 Whiffs | 15% CSW |
| Yennier Cano | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Rico Garcia | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 9% CSW |
| Andrew Kittredge | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
- It’s good to see Anthony Nunez back in this bullpen, and with some sequencing/command tweaks could get back on track to earn high-leverage work again. The stuff’s just too good.
NYY 5 – WSN 3
| New York Yankees | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tim Hill – BS (3) | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 45% CSW |
| Angel Chivilli | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Ryan Yarbrough – W (2) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Paul Blackburn – SV (1) | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- Paul Blackburn got the save here over two innings and utilized his seven-pitch mix well, but I’m just not excited by it. Most of those pitches are fringe-average at best.
| Washington Nationals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Andrew Alvarez – L (3) | 2.0 IP | 3 ER | 4 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
| Justin Lawrence | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 12% CSW |
- Justin Lawrence leaned on his sweeper here, as he should, but the sinker did look better, so maybe there’s hope for a resurgence from him in the second half.
CHC 8 – CIN 4
| Chicago Cubs | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gavin Hollowell | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 4 Whiffs | 52% CSW |
| Caleb Thielbar | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Jacob Webb – SV (5) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
- Gavin Hollowell has a pretty good pitch mix to work with (changeup seems promising too); he just needs to throw strikes more consistently, as he did here. A name to monitor in this bullpen.
| Cincinnati Reds | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chase Petty – L (2) | 2.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 32% CSW |
| Sam Moll | 0.1 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Pierce Johnson | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 12% CSW |
| Rhett Lowder | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 2 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
- Blegh.
BOS 3 – NYM 2
| Boston Red Sox | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brayan Bello | 4.1 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 5 K | 8 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
| Aroldis Chapman – W (1) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Garrett Whitlock – SV (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 15% CSW |
- The Red Sox head into the All-Star break just a half-game out of a playoff spot, so they may be hanging on to Aroldis Chapman and Garrett Whitlock after all. They get four games against the Rays, three against the Orioles, and three against the Jays, all at home, after the break, so how those series go will determine their deadline plans.
| New York Mets | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Luke Weaver – HLD (12) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Devin Williams – BS (3) | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 23% CSW |
| Brooks Raley – L (4) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
- Devin Williams outing should have been five pitches with a save, but Lindor made a brutal error on a routine double play ball here to extend the inning. Williams then walked two and gave up a “single” to Duran (a bloop flyball that should have been caught by someone). Williams hasn’t been great, but I’m not sure any other closer has been hurt more by his defense than Williams this year.
SEA 8 – TBR 2
| Seattle Mariners | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| José A. Ferrer – W (2) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 1 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Nick Davila | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Gabe Speier | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 28% CSW |
| Michael Rucker | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Eduard Bazardo | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 11% CSW |
| Andrés Muñoz | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
- Andrés Muñoz goes into the All-Star break on a high note, as his four-seamer was dominant here (up to 101 MPH), and he threw it on 12/20 pitches as we are getting closer to that 50/50 pitch mix split with his fastball and slider. I think I’d feel comfortable buying low on him right now if you need saves.
| Tampa Bay Rays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cole Sulser | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
| Chris Roycroft | 3.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 5 Whiffs | 39% CSW |
| Craig Kimbrel | 1.2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Kevin Kelly | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
- Chris Roycroft actually does possess a great sinker, but there’s not much else there (maybe the cutter?).
PHI 5 – DET 0
| Philadelphia Phillies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| José Alvarado | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Orion Kerkering | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Jonathan Bowlan | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
- José Alvarado put together his best outing in a while here, yet his sinker was down 2 MPH. And it’s not like the command was perfect either, so this is a concern.
| Detroit Tigers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Keider Montero | 3.0 IP | 3 ER | 4 H | 1 BB | 5 K | 11 Whiffs | 40% CSW |
| Drew Sommers | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Beau Brieske | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
- Meh.
CLE 5 – MIA 2
| Cleveland Guardians | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Franco Aleman – HLD (3) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Hunter Gaddis – HLD (18) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Shawn Armstrong – HLD (7) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Cade Smith | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 2 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
- Hunter Gaddis has been better as of late, and he even got a strikeout against a lefty here (he hit the other lefty he faced). That changeup is going to be key for him to continue his second-half success.
| Miami Marlins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Calvin Faucher | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Tyler Zuber | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
| Michael Petersen | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 5 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Cade Gibson | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
| Lake Bachar | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 4 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
| Pete Fairbanks | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
- Pete Fairbanks tried sneaking a fastball in to DeLauter here 2-1, and he jumped all over it. Fairbanks has now allowed seven home runs on the year, a career high for him.
LAA 2 – MIN 4
| Los Angeles Angels | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chase Silseth | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 4 K | 7 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
| Ryan Zeferjahn | 1.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 37% CSW |
- Chase Silseth has been up and down all season, and the line was great here, but the fastball was down 1.4 MPH, so that’s something to keep an eye on (although Silseth shouldn’t really be on your radar anyway).
| Minnesota Twins | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Andrew Morris – SV (3) | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 6 Whiffs | 27% CSW |
- Andrew Morris, on the other hand, was up 2.2 MPH as his fastball averaged 99 MPH here, and he picked up the save after throwing the final two innings. Just not sure I believe in the secondaries yet, but the fastball can work.
ATH 1 – CHW 9
| Athletics | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| José Suarez | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Mark Leiter Jr. Jr. | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 43% CSW |
| Justin Sterner | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
- Justin Sterner keeps regressing every time it looks like he’s actually ready to break out.
| Chicago White Sox | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jordan Hicks | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 3 K | 6 Whiffs | 53% CSW |
| Seranthony Domínguez | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 29% CSW |
| Tyler Schweitzer | 2.0 IP | 0 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
- It’s probably about time we started thinking about taking Jordan Hicks seriously again. His sinker was sitting at 100+ MPH here, and the sweeper has been excellent for him in this resurgence.
ATL 4 – STL 3
| Atlanta Braves | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| JR Ritchie | 4.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 34% CSW |
| Dylan Dodd – HLD (4) | 0.1 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 18% CSW |
| Didier Fuentes – BS (2) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
| Dylan Lee | 1.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Tyler Kinley – W (5) | 0.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 60% CSW |
| Raisel Iglesias – SV (19) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
- Raisel Iglesias leaned on his changeup here, throwing just 3 fastballs (velo was down to 93.4 MPH, too), but he was able to make it work regardless.
| St. Louis Cardinals | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Justin Bruihl | 1.2 IP | 1 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 21% CSW |
| Gordon Graceffo | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 14% CSW |
| Ryne Stanek | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
| JoJo Romero – L (3) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 16% CSW |
- JoJo Romero’s inning started with an out, followed by a double to Albies and another out before things unraveled. He then hit Harris, Dubon reached on an error by Winn, and Romero walked White to load the bases before getting Riley to fly out. Not all Romero’s fault (similar to Devin Williams), but his stuff isn’t good enough to overcome a lack of command.
HOU 5 – TEX 6
| Houston Astros | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Enyel De Los Santos | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 8% CSW |
| Bryan Abreu | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 38% CSW |
| Steven Okert | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 31% CSW |
| Bryan King | 2.0 IP | 1 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 16% CSW |
| Josh Hader – L (1) | 0.0 IP | 1 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 11% CSW |
- Josh Hader got Singled Out here, and we can just chalk it up to one of those days, as the stuff looked great and command was fine.
| Texas Rangers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tyler Alexander | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 30% CSW |
| Cole Winn – HLD (8) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Robby Ahlstrom – HLD (3) | 0.1 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Peyton Gray – BS (1) | 0.2 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 2 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Ben Peoples | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 42% CSW |
| Jacob Latz – W (2) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- Ben Peoples fastball was sitting 97.5 here, and his 90 MPH slider looked sharp as well (HR to Smith was fluky), so there could be something here, as this bullpen is shallow enough to give him an opportunity.
COL 1 – SFG 3
| Colorado Rockies | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brennan Bernardino | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 36% CSW |
| Jimmy Herget | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 24% CSW |
| Antonio Senzatela – L (2) | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 22% CSW |
- Nope.
| San Francisco Giants | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Keaton Winn | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 15% CSW |
| Erik Miller – W (2) | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 5 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
- Erik Miller continues this stretch of positive outings and could work his way into a closer committee again with Kilian struggling, and honestly, Keaton Winn does not look great right now. Miller’s command will also make or break him.
ARI 5 – LAD 3
| Arizona Diamondbacks | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Taylor Clarke | 1.1 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 2 K | 3 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Ryan Thompson – W (4) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 4 Whiffs | 45% CSW |
| Kevin Ginkel – HLD (8) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 0% CSW |
| Jonathan Loáisiga – HLD (7) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 2 K | 4 Whiffs | 35% CSW |
| Juan Morillo – HLD (10) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Paul Sewald – SV (22) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 1 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
- Paul Sewald’s fastball was up over a MPH again here and will take whatever boost we can get for that pitch. The stuffs still in a good place overall for him.
| Los Angeles Dodgers | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Edgardo Henriquez – L (1) | 0.2 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 1 BB | 0 K | 1 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Brock Stewart | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 3 Whiffs | 25% CSW |
| Tanner Scott | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
| Evan Phillips | 1.0 IP | 1 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 3 Whiffs | 26% CSW |
- Edgardo Henriquez tried throwing a cutter down and in to Vargas here (not sure I like the pitch choice), which led to an RBI single, but other than that, he looked good (sinker sat 102 MPH), and I would not get discouraged about the stat line.
TOR 4 – SDP 5
| Toronto Blue Jays | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tyler Rogers | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 33% CSW |
| Jeff Hoffman – L (6) | 1.0 IP | 2 ER | 3 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 2 Whiffs | 20% CSW |
- Jeff Hoffman’s fastball was down a MPH here, but even still, he was Singled Out as only one of the three singles was actually hit hard here. I guess he was due for a poor outing after dominating since the start of June.
| San Diego Padres | |||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ron Marinaccio | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
| Kyle Hart | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 0 K | 0 Whiffs | 19% CSW |
| Adrian Morejon – W (7) | 2.0 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 17% CSW |
| Mason Miller – SV (25) | 1.0 IP | 0 ER | 0 H | 0 BB | 1 K | 2 Whiffs | 50% CSW |
- Adrian Morejon gave up a groundball single and eventually a bloop single that led to the run here, but looked great otherwise.
