A jam bloop that just snuck past the second baseman, a bunt single, and a 2-2 slider he hung to Vivas with two outs were the culprits for Samy Natera Jr. here. The command was an issue with both his fastball and slider, and figuring out that slider (and maybe a changeup) will be huge for him this offseason.

After getting a quick out, Bowlan allowed back-to-back singles on ground balls up the middle (both off sliders), but the second one was botched by the center fielder, allowing the runner to score from first (why is this an earned run again?). He could probably use a break down the stretch as he’s not used to this kind of workload, but the Phillies really need him over the next month or so, so that may not be possible.
