The division reports debuted last year. The goal of this article series is to provide a quick overview of all dynasty-relevant information from each division. Each team has multiple levels each containing plenty of impactful prospects which can feel impossible to keep up with. This article series, which will be updated once per month, will help dynasty managers stay up to date on performances, injuries, promotions, and more. New this season is the inclusion of tiers in the rankings. Next to their rank, each prospect is assigned a tier. The tier range is 1-5.
- Tier 1: A potential difference-making dynasty prospect. Somebody who would rank in the top-20ish prospects for dynasty baseball
- Tier 2: A still very good dynasty prospect who holds plenty of value. This prospect would typically rank in the 21-75 range
- Tier 3: A mid-tier prospect who could be valuable but has questions and concerns present in his profile ranking in the 76-150 range
- Tier 4: A prospect who is worth knowing, but is reserved for deeper leagues. This prospect would rank 151-250
- Tier 5: The rest of the prospects fall into Tier 5
The start of the 2025 draft was a bit unexpected, but more than welcomed by Rockies fans. With the Nationals and Angels surprising people, Ethan Holliday fell right into Colorado’s lap at number four. The recent draftees are not included in this list due to the need for additional research and time to accurately rank them. However, Ethan Holliday would rank at the top of Colorado’s list. The team’s third pick, Max Belyeu, is another intriguing name and would rank ahead of Sterlin Thompson. There is plenty in the future to be excited about as a Rockies fan.
Ethan Holliday joins the Rockies’ top prospects list and instantly takes over the top spot. Even with Kyle Karros moving up to the Major Leagues, this is still a surprisingly deep system. Jared Thomas has had an excellent first season and Sterlin Thompson just keeps on producing under the radar. Keep reading for the latest news and notes on prospects from Colorado’s farm system.
Notable Prospect Performances:
- Roldy Brito has not slowed down since his promotion to Low-A. In 51 games at the Complex League, Brito was awesome batting .368 with three homers and 22 stolen bases. The real test starts now for Brito in Low-A. Brito ran a 16.5% swinging strike rate at the Complex League, which could lead to struggles against the tougher competition.
- Sterlin Thompson’s production continues to fly under the radar. Thompson is a late-season candidate to be promoted by Colorado. In 94 games this season, Thompson is batting .281 with 13 home runs and nine stolen bases. His production is even more impressive once you factor in his slow start to the season. Since the start of June, Thompson is slashing .309/.396/.539. As a former first-round pick, Thompson should be regarded more highly in dynasty communities.
- Benny Montgomery does not seem like he will ever figure things out. After being selected eighth overall in 2021, Montgomery has failed to live up to the lofty expectations. Strikeouts and ground balls have been an issue throughout his career and are something that he is still struggling with. He is batting just .206 through 63 games in Double-A.
Notable Prospect Promotions and News:
- Kyle Karros hive rise up! Karros has been a popular name in my articles since last season. His success throughout the Minor Leagues has vaulted him all the way to the Major Leagues this month. After spending most of the season in Double-A, Karros played in just 16 Triple-A games before the call up to the Major Leagues. How much game power will come out of his 6’5″ profile is the biggest question. Right now, he profiles as an Alec Bohm-type player who gets to play his home games at Coors Field. Not a bad start and certainly a player worth adding.
- Ethan Holliday fell into Colorado’s lap at fourth overall. Holliday to Colorado is a dynasty dream come true. The top prospect in my FYPD rankings, Holliday, has easy power that will play up in Coors Field. He is not quite the runner his brother is, and fits better at third base long term, but is an instant tier-two prospect with significant fantasy upside.
- The Rockies acquired Roc Riggio from the Yankees. Riggio was starting to get more attention from the dynasty community even prior to this trade. After starting the year in High-A, Riggio was putting up strong numbers for Double-A Somerset prior to the trade. He is up to 18 homers on the season, although his smaller 5’9″ frame limits what his true power projection will likely become.
