The division reports debuted last year. The goal of this article series is to provide a quick overview of all dynasty-relevant information from each division. Each team has multiple minor league levels, each containing plenty of impactful prospects, which can feel impossible to keep up with. This article series, which will be updated once per month, will help dynasty managers stay up-to-date on performances, injuries, promotions, and more. New this season is the inclusion of tiers in the rankings. Next to their rank, each prospect is assigned a tier. The tier range is 1-5.
- Tier 1: A potential difference-making dynasty prospect. Somebody who would rank in the top-20ish prospects for dynasty baseball
- Tier 2: A still very good dynasty prospect who holds plenty of value. This prospect would typically rank in the 21-75 range
- Tier 3: A mid-tier prospect who could be valuable but has questions and concerns present in his profile, ranking in the 76-150 range
- Tier 4: A prospect who is worth knowing, but is reserved for deeper leagues. This prospect would rank 151-250
- Tier 5: The rest of the prospects fall into Tier 5
Even after the promotions of Paul Skenes and Jared Jones in 2024, the Buccos have a talent-rich system headlined by Bubba Chandler and 2024 first-rounder Konnor Griffin. The Pirates may not be in their competitive window now, but it won’t be long before they’re raising the Jolly Roger!
Notable Prospect Promotions and News
- Tony Blanco Jr made his long-awaited return to Class-A Bradenton on July 19th, just three months after sustaining a leg injury that had him on the 60-day IL, while also losing his father in the tragic DR nightclub roof collapse. The 6’7″ 1B/OF is a massive human being and has shown easy double-plus raw power in limited pro experience. In 44 at-bats since his return, Blanco already has four homers and a 1.018 OPS. There are still concerns about his contact and strikeout rates, but there’s no disputing that his power is game-changing and would be the carrying tool in his push to the Majors.
- In a rare inter-division trade, the Pirates acquired Sammy Stafura from the Reds at the Trade Deadline and then promoted him to High-A on August 3rd. Stafura was a fixture inside the Reds’ top 10 prospects since his selection in the 2nd round of the 2023 Draft. The 20-year-old is batting .251 this season with four homers and 29 steals primarily at Class-A Daytona. Stafura immediately falls in as the #9 prospect in a loaded Pittsburgh system.
Notable Prospect Performances
- Edward Florentino is one of the hottest names in prospect circles of late. After completely destroying the Complex League, Florentino has continued his tear for Class A Bradenton. On the season, Florentino has a .293/.409/.556 slash with 14 homers, 17 doubles, 31 steals, a .965 OPS, and a 166 wRC+ through 70 games. The 18-year-old is on a meteoric rise through prospect ranks and has surged into the Top 100 overall in many publications.
