Cleveland Guardians Top Dynasty Prospects – August Edition

Cleveland Guardians top dynasty prospects for the month of August

The division reports debuted last year. The goal of this article series is to provide a quick overview of all dynasty-relevant information from each division. Each team has multiple minor league levels, each containing plenty of impactful prospects, which can feel impossible to keep up with. This article series, which will be updated once per month, will help dynasty managers stay up-to-date on performances, injuries, promotions, and more. New this season is the inclusion of tiers in the rankings. Next to their rank, each prospect is assigned a tier. The tier range is 1-5.

  • Tier 1: A potential difference-making dynasty prospect. Somebody who would rank in the top-20ish prospects for dynasty baseball
  • Tier 2: A still very good dynasty prospect who holds plenty of value. This prospect would typically rank in the 21-75 range
  • Tier 3: A mid-tier prospect who could be valuable but has questions and concerns present in his profile, ranking in the 76-150 range
  • Tier 4: A prospect who is worth knowing, but is reserved for deeper leagues. This prospect would rank 151-250
  • Tier 5: The rest of the prospects fall into Tier

There are a few new faces in the Guardians system following the trade deadline, and sending away long-time starter Shane Bieber. See how the 2025 draft and trade deadline have shaken up the Guardians’ prospect rankings and where players currently sit.

Notable Prospect Performances:

  • The Guardians’ top prospect, Travis Bazzana, returned from a rehab assignment after the All-Star break after he fully recovered from an oblique strain on July 18. Bazzana only played nine games to finish out July, but looked stronger at the plate than he did during his rehab, putting up a .286/.375/.371 slash line with only three doubles, two RBI, and no stolen bases in 40 plate appearances. Bazzana was having better at-bats as the month ended, but the power was still absent from his swing to finish out July. He’s still a promising young prospect adjusting to his first injury setback, but there’s no need for dynasty owners to give up on him anytime soon.
  • Khal Stephen was the pitcher the Guardians received in return from the Blue Jays for the former Cy Young award winner in 2020, Shane Bieber. Stephen had left a strong impression on the Blue Jays’ system before being traded. He rose from Low-A to Double-A from the middle of May to July. Unfortunately, like his major league counterpart in the trade, Stephen was placed on the IL with shoulder impingement before the Jays traded him to Cleveland for Bieber. During Stephen’s one start in Double-A, he allowed two home runs and five total over five innings of work with one walk and just two strikeouts. There’s no clear timeframe on Stephen’s return, so dynasty owners will want to hold off on his status and performance in 2026 before considering adding him.

Notable Prospect News and Promotions:

  • There is at least one Guardians prospect this year who has arrived in the majors. C.J Kayfus had his contract selected by the Guardians on August 2 to help reinforce their lineup. Before being called up, Kayfus was not having the best performance at the plate in July. He only had a .224/.293/.403 slash line with just three home runs, 10 RBI, and six walks over 75 plate appearances. But with a few roster spots open following the trade deadline and the suspension of Emmanuel Clase, Kayfus’s chance came, and he’s off to a better start in the majors than his performance in July.
