The division reports debuted last year. The goal of this article series is to provide a quick overview of all dynasty-relevant information from each division. Each team has multiple levels each containing plenty of impactful prospects which can feel impossible to keep up with. This article series, which will be updated once per month, will help dynasty managers stay up to date on performances, injuries, promotions, and more. New this season is the inclusion of tiers in the rankings. Next to their rank, each prospect is assigned a tier. The tier range is 1-5.
- Tier 1: A potential difference-making dynasty prospect. Somebody who would rank in the top-20ish prospects for dynasty baseball
- Tier 2: A still very good dynasty prospect who holds plenty of value. This prospect would typically rank in the 21-75 range
- Tier 3: A mid-tier prospect who could be valuable but has questions and concerns present in his profile ranking in the 76-150 range
- Tier 4: A prospect who is worth knowing, but is reserved for deeper leagues. This prospect would rank 151-250
- Tier 5: The rest of the prospects fall into Tier 5
The Diamondbacks have been inconsistent this season. With 2023 looking more and more like a flash in the pan, the team may need to rely on their Farm System to help bring them back to the playoffs. The good news is that early signs point to a strong 2024 draft headlined by Ryan Waldschmidt and Slade Caldwell. Keep reading for the rest of the news and notes that dynasty managers should know from Arizona’s system.
Notable Prospect Performances:
- The top of the 2022 MLB Draft has been pretty disappointing up to this point. Arizona’s selection of Druw Jones at second overall is becoming increasingly disappointing. Jones struggled in his debut season, but started to put things together in 2024. He finished last season with a 125 wRC+ in Low-A leading to some optimism about what 2025 had in store. Unfortunately, Jones has scuffled in his first taste of High-A. He is yet to hit a home run and is batting just .236. High ground ball rates continue to hamper Jones’ offensive production and his future outlook is becoming increasingly bleak. He technically moves up on this month’s ranking due to Jordan Lawlar’s exclusion, but he will slide pretty significantly in the Prospect List Top-150 update coming next week.
- Yu Min Lin has been struggling in Triple-A. Lin got off to a fast start in Triple-A but has been scuffling over his last three starts. In those starts, Lin has a combined 10.45 ERA. For dynasty managers, this further pushes Lin down dynasty lists. Since dominating the lower levels of the Minor Leagues, Lin’s underwhelming fastball has caught up to him against tougher competition. Walks have also been an issue for Lin in Triple-A this season, he is walking 14.3% of the batters he has faced. With not much upside and a lack of control, Lin is not a dynasty-relevant prospect.
Notable Prospect Promotions and News:
- Demetrio Crisantes will miss the remainder of the 2025 season with a shoulder injury. This injury is concerning on two fronts. First, Crisantes misses valuable development time that is critical at this stage in his professional career. Secondly, shoulder injuries have the potential to linger and cause decreased power for a prolonged period of time. This is especially concerning for a player that dynasty managers were hoping for a power breakout from. He remains a top-100 prospect but his value has taken a significant hit.
- Jordan Lawlar is no longer being considered for this list, but is back in Triple-A after a short stint in the Major Leagues. Lawlar is stuck in AAAA at this point. He is too good for Triple-A. Since the demotion back, Lawlar has continued to rake. However, he cannot seem to put anything together at the Major League level. He went hitless in 22 plate appearances in the bigs, giving the team no choice but to send him back down.
- Mason Marriott will miss the entirety of the 2025 season. Marriott was the team’s sixth-round pick last season out of Baylor. Although his name had not yet made it to the dynasty community, Marriott was off to a nice start to his professional career. Through four starts, he owned a 2.29 ERA and a 32.5% strikeout rate. He was placed on the season-ending IL for High-A with what is likely an arm injury.
- Spencer Giesting was promoted from Double-A to Triple-A. Giesting made 10 starts this season at Double-A where he posted a 3.67 ERA. Giesting is a crafty lefty who lacks elite stuff or control. There is not a ton of upside in his profile for dynasty managers.
- Dylan Ray was also promoted up to Triple-A. Similarly to Giesting, Ray also made 10 starts in Double-A prior to his promotion with a 3.93 ERA. Although Ray’s stuff is slightly better than Giesting’s, there remains a lack of upside. His fastball sits 93-94 on the gun with decent movement. His changeup is his best secondary offering and lacks consistency. His strikeout rate on the season is just 23.8%, and it is unlikely he ever develops into a reliable fantasy asset.
- Slade Caldwell received a much-deserved promotion. After batting .294 with three homers and 13 stolen bases in Low-A, Caldwell is heading to High-A. Caldwell was the team’s first-round pick from last season and is rising up dynasty ranks. His hit tool and speed are both polished products. The biggest question is how much game power he will actually hit for. He has hit just one home run since the start of May. This lack of power keeps him ranked as a tier-four prospect despite the fast start.
