Detroit Tigers Top Dynasty Prospects- May Edition

Detroit Tigers Top Prospects May 2025 Edition

The division reports debuted last year. The goal of this article series is to provide a quick overview of all dynasty-relevant information from each division. Each team has multiple minor league levels, each containing plenty of impactful prospects, which can feel impossible to keep up with. This article series, which will be updated once per month, will help dynasty managers stay up-to-date on performances, injuries, promotions, and more. New this season is the inclusion of tiers in the rankings. Next to their rank, each prospect is assigned a tier. The tier range is 1-5.

  • Tier 1: A potential difference-making dynasty prospect. Somebody who would rank in the top-20ish prospects for dynasty baseball
  • Tier 2: A still very good dynasty prospect who holds plenty of value. This prospect would typically rank in the 21-75 range
  • Tier 3: A mid-tier prospect who could be valuable but has questions and concerns present in his profile, ranking in the 76-150 range
  • Tier 4: A prospect who is worth knowing, but is reserved for deeper leagues. This prospect would rank 151-250
  • Tier 5: The rest of the prospects fall into Tier 5

One player has graduated off the Tigers’ top 10 list already for the 2025 season, but all others have stayed on the teams where their seasons have started. How are the Tigers’ best prospects performing at the start of their seasons, and who has taken the place of their graduated prospect as their newest man on the top 10?

Notable Prospect Performances:

  • Jackson Jobe still has a few more innings to throw in the Majors before he graduates off the Tigers’ top 10 prospect list, but he has had a decent start to the season in the Tigers’ starting rotation. Through his first five starts, he’s thrown 24 innings, keeping hitters to a 3.38 ERA, but he’s allowed 14 walks and 18 hits, bringing his WHIP to 1.33. Fortunately, the high number of walks has only translated to a 13.7% walk rate. It’s still not ideal, but certainly in a place where it can be lowered to the 10% mark. His strikeout rate does fair better at 17.6% on the season, but even with his command out of place, Jobe will have to improve on his command of the strike zone as the season progresses, but he still places himself as a favorite for American League Rookie of the Year.
  • The top prospect in the Tigers system, Max Clark, has had an impressive start to the 2025 season at High-A West Michigan, having a .291/.451/.372 with one homer, 17 RBI, a 22.1% walk rate, and a 14.2% strikeout rate over 113 plate appearances. Clark is the only one among the top five picks from the 2023 MLB Draft still hanging out in the lower levels of the Minor Leagues, but if he keeps swinging the bat the way he currently is with a little more power to it, he will likely move up to Double-A by Memorial Day weekend. Just like any of his counterparts from the highly touted 2023 Draft Class, Clark is a no-brainer for any dynasty team owner, and even if he is still a season away from the Majors, he is one player that teams should be locking up.
  • With Jace Jung being the first player to graduate off the Tigers’ prospect list this season, someone had to fill the open spot he left vacant. The player who joined the top 10 in his place is 20-year-old Franyerber Montilla. Montilla is a 2022 international free agent signing who started the season with Low-A Lakeland for the first time. Montilla has earned his spot on the Tigers’ top 10 list as he’s hit .304/.411/.418 slash line with two home runs, 10 RBI, and 11 stolen bases. He still hasn’t found a home yet in the field as he’s still rotated around second, shortstop, and third base. Players in the lower levels of the Minors are always harder to evaluate, but Montilla is making a name for himself by being in the picture for the Major League club between 2027 and 2028.

Notable Prospect News and Promotions:

  •  Jung graduated from the Tigers’ top prospect list after being promoted back to the Tigers on April 21. He’s struggled so far over 12 games with the Tigers, going only 3-for-30. How long he remains on the Tigers roster remains to be seen, but he has a lot of work to do before he can be sent back down again.
