Athletics Top Dynasty Prospects – July Edition

Athletics top dynasty prospects for the month of July

The division reports debuted last year. The goal of this article series is to provide a quick overview of all dynasty-relevant information from each division. Each team has multiple levels each containing plenty of impactful prospects which can feel impossible to keep up with. This article series, which will be updated once per month, will help dynasty managers stay up to date on performances, injuries, promotions, and more. New this season is the inclusion of tiers in the rankings. Next to their rank, each prospect is assigned a tier. The tier range is 1-5.

  • Tier 1: A potential difference-making dynasty prospect. Somebody who would rank in the top-20ish prospects for dynasty baseball
  • Tier 2: A still very good dynasty prospect who holds plenty of value. This prospect would typically rank in the 21-75 range
  • Tier 3: A mid-tier prospect who could be valuable but has questions and concerns present in his profile ranking in the 76-150 range
  • Tier 4: A prospect who is worth knowing, but is reserved for deeper leagues. This prospect would rank 151-250
  • Tier 5: The rest of the prospects fall into Tier 5

This article details all of the changes dynasty managers need to know on prospects from the Athletics. The goal is to help dynasty managers stay updated on the latest information with in-depth looks at each specific team! Each division will come with a monthly update that readers can look forward to.

This list features prospects not currently in the Majors. As a result, this farm may feel a bit thin, but make no mistake that this org has plenty of young talent.

Top 10 Prospects

Notable Prospect Promotions and News

  • This list has lost many names, as it doesn’t include prospects actively in the majors at time of posting. That means Jack Perkins and Colby Thomas, who both received promotions in June, are not eligible for the list. How long they will be up remains a question, but the A’s are going to see what they have in some of their prospects. Despite Denzel Clarke’s defensive wizardry, if Thomas hits the ground running he may overtake those at bats at the big league level.
  • Gage Jump and Tommy White have been selected for the Futures Game. Jump has been a big helium guy so far this year with a 30.9 percent strikeout rate and a 2.09 ERA between High-A and Double-A this season. White has hit 9 home runs with an 11.9 percent strikeout rate.

Notable Prospect Performances

  • With the Complex League underway, SS Shotaro Morii has been swinging a hot bat. In June he slashed .317.481/.595 with a a pair of home runs in 41 at bats. He walked as much as he struck out, as well.

  • Though he managed just 11.2 innings across four starts, SP We-En Lin had 12 strikeouts with a 2.31 ERA in that time. He was promoted to High-A for his last start of the month, but prior to that he was posting exceedingly low walk numbers and exceedingly high strikeout numbers. Longevity has not been his calling card so far this year, reaching 5 innings only 4 times all year, and not since mid-May. This is likely the plan from the A’s. Statistically he’s been very successful when on the mound.
