SFG 3 – DET 1

W: Logan Webb (10-8)

L: Brant Hurter (0-1)

HD: Tyler Rogers (25)

SV: Ryan Walker (1)

  • It figures that just one day after the San Francisco Giants outrighted Camilo Doval to Triple-A Sacramento they would be faced with a save situation.
  • Logan Webb cruised through seven innings allowing just one run on four hits before he handed a 3-1 lead over to the bullpen.
  • Tyler Rogers breezed through a perfect eighth inning and Ryan Walker came into the ninth with a two-run lead. Walker allowed one hit and a walk but rang up a pair of strikeouts to close it out and earn his first save of the season.

SDP 9 – MIA 8 (10 inn.)

W: Robert Suarez (7-1)

L: John McMillon (0-1)

BS: Anthony Bender (4), Adrian Morejon (2)

SV: Tanner Scott (19)

  • San Diego jumped out to a 3-0 lead before giving up seven consecutive runs to the Marlins to trail 7-3.
  • The Padres regained the lead with two runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth, touching up both Declan Cronin and Anthony Bender.
  • Adrian Morejon allowed the tying run in the bottom of the eighth as the Marlins knotted it 8-8. Calvin Faucher and Robert Suarez each pitched a scoreless half of the ninth to force the game to extras.
  • In the 10th, the Padres drove in the bonus runner from second base, scoring an unearned run on John McMillon. Tanner Scott mowed through the Marlins in the bottom of the inning, allowing only a bunt single, to earn the save and preserve the win.

MIL 1 – CIN 0

W: Joel Payamps (2-5)

L: Tony Santillan (0-1)

SV: Devin Williams (1)

  • Tobias Myers and Nick Martinez engaged in a pitcher’s duel for the first seven innings, allowing a combined four hits while ringing up a combined 16 strikeouts.
  • Joel Payamps relieved Myers in the eighth inning and recorded a pair of outs to become the pitcher of record for the Brewers.
  • Tony Santillan allowed a Rhys Hoskins home run in the bottom of the eighth to give Milwaukee a 1-0 lead.
  • Devin Williams struck out the side in the ninth to earn his first save of the season, ringing up Elly De La Cruz, Tyler Stephenson, and TJ Friedl to end the game.
  • Though Williams threw just 18 pitches, Brewers manager Pat Murphy has stated that he won’t throw Williams on consecutive days.

The best of the rest…

  • Josh Hader, Emmanuel Clase, Héctor Neris, and Raisel Iglesias each earned saves in their typical closer roles. Lucas Erceg bailed the Royals out of a ninth-inning jam to earn his first save with the team while Seranthony Domínguez notched his first save as a Baltimore Oriole. Yennier Cano pitched in the seventh inning.
  • The Nationals edged the Angels 5-4 in 10 innings on Saturday afternoon. Nats Closer Kyle Finnegan threw 29 pitches to close out Friday night’s walk-off win so instead the Nationals turned to Derek Law for the ninth and 10th innings. Law allowed just one hit, a ninth-inning double, setting up his team for a walk-off win in the bottom of the 10th, the Nats’ second-consecutive walk-off victory over the Angels.
