The division reports debuted last year. The goal of this article series is to provide a quick overview of all dynasty-relevant information from each division. Each team has multiple minor league levels, each containing plenty of impactful prospects, which can feel impossible to keep up with. This article series, which will be updated once per month, will help dynasty managers stay up-to-date on performances, injuries, promotions, and more. New this season is the inclusion of tiers in the rankings. Next to their rank, each prospect is assigned a tier. The tier range is 1-5.
- Tier 1: A potential difference-making dynasty prospect. Somebody who would rank in the top-20ish prospects for dynasty baseball
- Tier 2: A still very good dynasty prospect who holds plenty of value. This prospect would typically rank in the 21-75 range
- Tier 3: A mid-tier prospect who could be valuable but has questions and concerns present in his profile, ranking in the 76-150 range
- Tier 4: A prospect who is worth knowing, but is reserved for deeper leagues. This prospect would rank 151-250
- Tier 5: The rest of the prospects fall into Tier 5
Even after the promotions of Paul Skenes and Jared Jones in 2024, the Buccos have a talent-rich system headlined by Bubba Chandler and 2024 first-rounder Konnor Griffin. The Pirates may not be in their competitive window now, but it won’t be long before they’re raising the Jolly Roger!
Notable Prospect Promotions and News
- Every tidbit of information for the entire organization could be centered around 2024 first-round pick Konnor Griffin. Griffin, who just turned 19 in April, got the bump to High-A on June 8th and continued the torrid pace he was on at his previous level. In his 24 games for Greensboro, Griffin has a .312/.414/.505 slash with 29 hits, four homers, six doubles, 41 combined runs and RBIs, and 14 steals. Griffin is a scoresheet stuffer, and **spoiler alert** is my new #1 overall prospect, surpassing Sebastian Walcott. There’s nothing this kid can’t do. He’s an elite athlete with impressive bat-to-ball skills, double-plus raw power, plus speed, and is also an outstanding defender. Konnor Griffin has the feel of one of the game’s next great superstars and a possible 1st round fantasy pick.
- Every month of 2025 has featured either Griffin or pop-up prospect Esmerlyn Valdez. The 21-year-old, amid the best season of his young career, was promoted to AA at the end of June after terrorizing pitchers at High-A. In June alone, Valdez popped off for a .304 average with 14 extra-base hits (5 HR), 20 RBI, and a .983 OPS. June was his third consecutive month with 10+ extra-base hits, 18+ RBI, 14+ runs scored, and an OPS over .900. Expect to see Valdez’s name continue to creep up prospect boards as we approach the end of 2025.
Notable Prospect Performances
- Former Clemson football player, turned Pirates outfield prospect, Will Taylor, had an incredible 24 hours this month. On June 8th, Taylor homered twice, added a double, and tallied three runs with seven RBI. The very next day, Taylor received the call to move to High-A Greensboro, where he has played for the last 23 games. On the season, the athletic 22-year-old is slashing .286/.387/.459 with 21 extra-base hits and ten steals across 52 games. Given his athletic pedigree and early rise in the system, Taylor is a name to keep an eye on in deep dynasty leagues.
