Los Angeles Angels Top Prospects – May Update

Los Angeles Angels Top Prospects May 2025 Update

The division reports debuted last year. The goal of this article series is to provide a quick overview of all dynasty-relevant information from each division. Each team has multiple levels each containing plenty of impactful prospects which can feel impossible to keep up with. This article series, which will be updated once per month, will help dynasty managers stay up to date on performances, injuries, promotions, and more. New this season is the inclusion of tiers in the rankings. Next to their rank, each prospect is assigned a tier. The tier range is 1-5.

  • Tier 1: A potential difference-making dynasty prospect. Somebody who would rank in the top-20ish prospects for dynasty baseball
  • Tier 2: A still very good dynasty prospect who holds plenty of value. This prospect would typically rank in the 21-75 range
  • Tier 3: A mid-tier prospect who could be valuable but has questions and concerns present in his profile ranking in the 76-150 range
  • Tier 4: A prospect who is worth knowing, but is reserved for deeper leagues. This prospect would rank 151-250
  • Tier 5: The rest of the prospects fall into Tier 5

This article details all of the changes dynasty managers need to know on prospects from the Angels. The goal is to help dynasty managers stay updated on the latest information with in-depth looks at each specific team! Each division will come with a monthly update that readers can look forward to.

Top 10 Prospects

Notable Prospect Performers:

  • Caden Dana, P – Dana has been rock solid in five Triple-A starts, recording 31 strikeouts in 25.2 innings to go with a a sparkling 2.45 ERA. He’s only had one bump in the road (three earned runs in 3.2 innings on April 23) but this feels like an anomaly given that he’s only allowed four runs in his other 22 Double-A innings. Dana did make a spot start for the Angels earlier in the season and will likely get an extended look later in the year.
  • Christian Moore, 2B – Typically in this section we like to highlight players that are on a hot streak, but its equally important to also note players that are in a cold spell. For Moore, he’s already had both to start the young 2025 season. The 2024 first rounder hit .167 with zero home runs and a strikeout rate of 32% through his first 18 Double-A games. In his last two games, though, the second baseman has collected six base hits, including a home run. Last year, Moore hit .347 in 25 minor league games before being shut down with an injury. There were not so quiet whispers that Moore could quickly be on the MLB team. His early season struggles haven’t helped his case, but he appears to have turned a corner.
  • Samy Natera Jr. – Natera is looking like a relief-only prospect at this point, but he could be a good one. It’s only 9.1 innings of Double-A work, but Natera is striking out north of 50% of the batters he faces. The lefty has historically posted high strikeout rates so its no surprise to see that number explode in a bullpen role.

Notable Prospect News:

  • Barrett Kent, P – The Angels placed Kent on the 60-day IL with an undisclosed injury. Seeing that “60” number is never a good sign, especially for a pitcher. If it turns out that Kent is out for the year (and beyond) with Tommy John surgery and something similar, he will likely be off the next iteration of this ranking. Kent is a 2023 third round selection that had an up-and-down 2024. Across 113 Single-A frames, the right-hander had a 24.3% strikeout rate, but had a walk rate in the double digits and an ERA north of six. He’s still only 20 years old, so, if healthy, Kent could turn a corner.
