Ryan Zeferjahn, Brenan Hanifee, Kenley Jansen, Tommy Kahnle, Trevor Megill, Andrés Muñoz, Emilio Pagán, Daniel Palencia, Jordan Romano, Tony Santillan, and Luke Weaver all finished with three SV+HLDs this week, with Zeferjahn picking up FIVE. So why is Zeferjahn falling all of a sudden? For starters, he has not been helpful to your ratios and while some of that is bad luck (3.07 xFIP, 3.04 SIERA), he also seems to be coming back to normalcy this past month. Over his past 6.1 innings, Zeferjahn has a 7.00 SIERA as well as -9.7% K-BB rate, and 26.7% CSW rates. Small sample size and all, I think we just need to temper expectations here as Zeferjahn is likely to settle in as a 3.00+ ERA, 1.25+ WHIP, ~30% strikeout rate reliever, which is fine, but that’s more of a borderline top-50 reliever than a bona fide top-30 SV+HLD’s option.
