Catchers to Stream: Week 3

Find the perfect catcher to fill that empty roster spot this week.

Whether you’re in a two-catcher league or punted on drafting a backstop, you’ve come to the right place to find all the catchers that are fit to stream.

Here’s a look at each team’s schedule and their starting and backup catcher options. Make sure you scroll to the right to see the full week’s worth of matchups.

Playing Time Winners

We’ve had catcher injuries this week and a few players have shifted into starting roles.

Carlos Narváez (BOS): With Connor Wong injured, Narvaez figures to be the everyday backstop. He’s off to a solid start slashing .240/.345/.360 and Wong will miss at least a week with a finger injury. The Red Sox have a nice spread of pitching matchups this week and Narvaez is pretty widely available.

Dillon Dingler (DET): Dingler is off to a hot start and was already angling to win the starting job in Detroit – with Jake Rogers down it’s all his. He’s slashing .346/.370/.692 with two homers. Rogers is out for a month giving Dingler a long runway. The first half of the week holds some good pitching matchups for Detroit until they run into Cole Ragans on Friday.

Liam Hicks (MIA): Hicks isn’t doing much with the bat slashing .227/.261/.273 with a wRC+ of 50 but he should be the everyday starter for a few weeks with Nick Fortes on the IL with an oblique strain. The Marlins don’t run into any big-name pitchers until Zack Wheeler on Friday.

Pedro Pagés (STL): With Iván Herrera’s breakout season on hold for at least a month, Pages has a chance to prove himself. He’s off to a good start slashing .286/.286/.500 with a wRC+ of 119 with one homer in nine games. The Cards face some big names early in the week but the matchups improve as the week goes on.

And some others have shifted into backup roles. These are less attractive but could be worth a look in two-catcher leagues.

Blake Sabol (BOS):  Sabol is hitless in two games and Wong should be back on the sooner side, I’d look elsewhere.

Omar Narváez (CHW): A wRC+ of 8 in 28 games last year doesn’t inspire much confidence.

Yohel Pozo (STL): Pozo has a homer in his one start of the year. He’ll have the backup job for at least a month with Herrera on the shelf. He’ll have the job for a bit and hit well in the minors — he’d be my pick of this backup group.

The Yankees, Rays, Tigers, Royals, Mets, Phillies, Nationals, Pirates, Cardinals, and Giants all have a full seven games this week so take an extra look there if you need volume.
