Welcome back to a new week of Reliever Rankings!
Brent Headrick, Adrian Morejon, Ryan Watson, David Bednar, Rico Garcia, Jeff Hoffman, Mason Miller, Mason Montgomery, Gabe Speier, and Luke Weaver each had three SV+HLDs over the past week, with Headrick, Morejon, and Watson picking up four each.

| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Co-Closer | Justin Martinez | 20% |
| Co-Closer | Juan Morillo | 20% |
| Co-Closer | Brandyn Garcia | 20% |
| Co-Closer | Jonathan Loáisiga | 20% |
- This is still very much a closer committee, and while Juan Morillo has had the edge the past week or so, I’m thinking we have to be close to Justin Martinez getting a chance to win his job back, right? Brandyn Garcia has pitched well but doesn’t seem to be in that mix anymore, and I’d hope if there is a fourth name to add to this discussion, it’s Jonathan Loáisiga and not Kevin Ginkel.

| Co-Closer | Elvis Alvarado | 40% |
| Co-Closer | Hogan Harris | 40% |
| Setup Role | Luis Medina | 10% |
| Middle Relief | Scott Blewett | 5% |
- And we are back to Elvis Alvarado in the ninth, and it’s not even fun because he does not look great right now. I feel bad that Luis Medina hasn’t gotten a chance yet; he’s probably been the team’s best reliever over the past three months. He’s the best at limiting hard contact and keeping the ball on the ground, which helps in their home ballpark… the command could definitely be better, though.
A’s Big Three Relievers (past 3 months)

| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Raisel Iglesias | 60% |
| Setup Role | Didier Fuentes | 20% |
| Setup Role | Dylan Lee | 10% |
| Middle Relief | Dylan Dodd | 5% |
- Dylan Lee has really hit a rough patch over the past month now, and it’s not a stuff/skill issue; the stuff’s still great. The location and sequencing could be better, and perhaps his tipping? Something is clearly wrong because he is not missing bats like he used to.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Rico Garcia | 50% |
| Setup Role | Andrew Kittredge | 30% |
| Setup Role | Yennier Cano | 10% |
| Middle Relief | Anthony Nunez | 5% |
- And just like that, we are back to Rico Garcia in the closer role? Will this be the last time this changes before the end of the season? Who knows, as we could see one or both of Ryan Helsley and Félix Bautista return and shake things up even more. Andrew Kittredge is much better in a non-closer role, and Yennier Cano is back to facing 1-2 batters at a time. IF anyone else can be mentioned as a potential closer here, let it be Anthony Nunez, who has been a whiff machine since returning from AAA.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Aroldis Chapman | 80% |
| Setup Role | Garrett Whitlock | 5% |
| Setup Role | Erik Miller | 5% |
| Middle Relief | Wyatt Olds | 5% |
- Erik Miller’s velocity was down, and his command was shaky his last time out, and that command issue has been the story throughout most of his career, pretty much up until July of this year, actually. That’s now five walks over 3.1 IP in September. I’m not saying he is definitely about to regress, but I’m not terribly confident he’s just going to bounce back from this and be the pitcher he was in July/August again.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Co-Closer | Daniel Palencia | 30% |
| Co-Closer | Ryan Zeferjahn | 30% |
| Co-Closer | Jacob Webb | 30% |
| Middle Relief | Ryan Rolison | 5% |
- I was pretty much out on Daniel Palencia last week, but his last two outings have been more promising, and given the state of the rest of the bullpen, I wouldn’t be terribly surprised to see him close out games this week. As things stand right now, it appears as if Ryan Zeferjahn is the 1A closer option, but he remains volatile, and Jacob Webb’s last outing came in the 6th/7th inning of a tie game.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Co-Closer | Grant Taylor | 40% |
| Co-Closer | Bryan Hudson | 30% |
| Setup Role | Jordan Hicks | 10% |
| Middle Relief | Hagen Smith | 10% |
- Hagen Smith continues to just run through opposing lineups, and has not allowed a run over his past nine games now (17.1 IP) with a 0.63 WHIP and 40% K rate over that span. The only issue is that he has no holds (or saves) over this span. Bryan Hudson continues to soak up the majority of the SV+HLDs from the left side (by soak up, I mean a grand total of 5 over the past month), and rightfully so, but Smith should enter this conversation sooner rather than later.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||

| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Emilio Pagán | 70% |
| Setup Role | Brock Burke | 10% |
| Setup Role | Tejay Antone | 10% |
| Middle Relief | Julian Garcia | 5% |
- Brock Burke continues to be a rock in this bullpen, and there’s not much to be concerned about with him as his role is locked in. This Reds schedule is pretty brutal down the stretch, though (LAD, CHC, @ATL, @ TOR).
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Cade Smith | 85% |
| Setup Role | Hunter Gaddis | 5% |
| Setup Role | Erik Sabrowski | 5% |
| Middle Relief | Tim Herrin | 5% |
- Erik Sabrowski has allowed just one earned run since August (in an outing in which he did not allow a hit or walk and earned a hold), so I think it’s fairly safe to say he’s back (or close to it at least)? The depth has filled in nicely as well, with Craig Yoho and Tim Herrin pitching well behind the big three here.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Jordan Romano | 70% |
| Setup Role | Brennan Bernardino | 10% |
| Setup Role | Jimmy Herget | 5% |
| Middle Relief | Juan Mejia | 5% |
- Jordan Romano is the closer here, I guess, and you’d have to be extremely desperate in a very deep league to chase that.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Kenley Jansen | 70% |
| Setup Role | Drew Sommers | 10% |
| Setup Role | Tyler Holton | 10% |
| Middle Relief | Kyle Finnegan | 5% |
- Drew Sommers has lost some velocity recently, but he’s actually pitched better the past week, despite the velo dip. It still feels like Tyler Holton may be favored in leverage situations that call for a lefty, but I’d still argue for Sommers being that 8th-inning guy moving forward.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Josh Hader | 80% |
| Setup Role | Bryan Abreu | 5% |
| Setup Role | Bennett Sousa | 5% |
| Middle Relief | AJ Blubaugh | 5% |
- AJ Blubaugh has allowed four earned runs on nine hits and four walks over 5.2 innings in September, with just four strikeouts to boot. Back to the drawing board in Houston for who that second right-handed leverage guy could be, I suppose (can we give Miguel Ullola a real shot, please?).
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Steven Cruz | 55% |
| Setup Role | Nate Pearson | 25% |
| Setup Role | Alex Lange | 5% |
| Middle Relief | Craig Kimbrel | 5% |
- We should temper expectations for Steven Cruz, he’s not a big swing-and-miss guy and gives up a ton of hard contact (and home runs), but he’s done an admirable job hanging on to the closer role here, and I think he’s done enough to distance himself from Nate Pearson, at least for the next two weeks, that is. The rest of the schedule is tough, but all winnable games.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| C0-Closer | Ben Joyce | 50% |
| C0-Closer | Samy Natera Jr. | 30% |
| Setup Role | Ryan Watson | 10% |
| Middle Relief | José Fermín | 5% |
- Ben Joyce has lost about 2 MPH on his fastball in the past two outings, and the command has not been great either, so that’s not ideal. Unfortunately, Samy Natera Jr. has struggled since returning from the IL as well, so I’m not sure how things will end this season for this bullpen. Joyce at 99 MPH can still be more than fine, but only if the command is decent. Natera needs to take steps forward with his slider (commanding and trusting it).
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer? | Tanner Scott | 50% |
| Setup Role | Evan Phillips | 25% |
| Setup Role | Alex Vesia | 10% |
| Middle Relief | Brock Stewart | 10% |
- Evan Phillips has been great recently, and maybe the only reliable reliever left in this bullpen right now, as Tanner Scott is in the midst of another rough patch, it seems (albeit a very unlucky patch). Alex Vesia seems to have righted the ship recently as well, so perhaps he can enter the mix with Edgardo Henriquez on the IL, and who knows what to expect of Edwin Díaz this year.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Co-Closer | Michael Petersen | 40% |
| Co-Closer | Calvin Faucher | 30% |
| Co-Closer | Tyler Zuber | 20% |
| Middle Relief | Josh Ekness | 5% |
- Pete Fairbanks is going back on the IL with that same nerve issue, which brings to a close Fairbanks 2026, a disappointing season to say the least. Last time he went on the IL, I was leaning towards Calvin Faucher as the 1A closer option, but I think we may see Michael Petersen get a shot now as he’s pitched well as of late and perhaps could get a mini-audition in the role to see if he could be the guy next season.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Trevor Megill | 75% |
| Setup Role | Abner Uribe | 10% |
| Setup Role | Aaron Ashby | 5% |
| Middle Relief | DL Hall | 5% |
- I know Aaron Ashby has done a lot to help this team, but I feel like DL Hall has outpitched him to the point where they should probably switch roles. Over Hall’s past 19.1 innings, he holds a 0.93 ERA (2.74 SIERA), 0.62 WHIP, and 33.3% K rate (1 SV+HLD), while Ashby holds a still respectable 1.62 ERA (3.20 SIERA), 1.26 WHIP, and 26% K rate (7 SV+HLDs). The season numbers are in favor of Hall as well, so we’ll see if anything changes, but I’d doubt it.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||

| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer? | Yoendrys Gómez | 50% |
| Setup Role | Jeff Hoffman | 30% |
| Setup Role | A.J. Minter | 10% |
| Middle Relief | Andrew Morris | 5% |
- I think we are still under the assumption that Yoendrys Gómez will get the next save chance here, and I’d imagine they have pretty much given up hope of seeing October, so why not stick with him, I guess? Although Jeff Hoffman is under contract for next season as well, would they try to get him in that closer role for the final two weeks and perhaps open 2027 with him in the role? It makes some sense.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Interim Closer | Kodai Senga | 60% |
| Setup Role | Dedniel Núñez | 15% |
| Setup Role | Nate Lavender | 10% |
| Middle Relief | Daniel Duarte | 10% |
- Dedniel Núñez still has some command issues to work out, and the slider isn’t quite where it needs to be, but the fastball looks elite, and he’s way more exciting than Daniel Duarte. There’s a chance Devin Williams returns this weekend, and I’m not really sure what that means for anyone, but I’d assume he’d be coming back to act as the closer for the final week.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||

| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | David Bednar | 80% |
| Setup Role | Brent Headrick | 5% |
| Setup Role | Paul Blackburn | 5% |
| Middle Relief | John Schreiber | 5% |
- Paul Blackburn is hanging on for dear life as the Yankees top right-handed setup option, as the velocity has been down over his past four outings (3 hits, 3 walks, 2 runs over these 2.2 IP). Maybe Schreiber or Fulmer can step up, but this is looking pretty bleak, even if Cruz somehow makes it back.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Jhoan Duran | 85% |
| Setup Role | Jonathan Bowlan | 5% |
| Setup Role | Alex McFarlane | 5% |
| Middle Relief | Brooks Raley | 5% |
- Alex McFarlane is so much better than Orion Kerkering at this point, and it feels as if the Phillies understand, as McFarlane got himself two holds over the weekend while Kerkering gave up three runs on four walks and a pair of hits. I’m a little worried about Jonathan Bowlan running out of gas here too, and they need a lefty to step up (it should be Raley).
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Mason Montgomery | 70% |
| Setup Role | Luke Weaver | 10% |
| Setup Role | Gregory Soto | 10% |
| Middle Relief | Yohan Ramírez | 5% |
- Luke Weaver has gotten himself back on track and hopefully over that poison ivy situation, but there’s still a need for that second right-handed leverage arm, which to me looks like it should be Yohan Ramírez’s job from here on out (Doval ain’t it).
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Mason Miller | 80% |
| Setup Role | Adrian Morejon | 10% |
| Setup Role | Bradgley Rodriguez | 5% |
| Middle Relief | Yuki Matsui | 5% |
- Bradgley Rodriguez had been having such a good season, so it’s painful to see these past two games with his velocity way down. Hopefully it’s just fatigue and nothing serious, but he’s going to be hard to trust for the next two weeks if he’s not placed on the IL. Yuki Matsui is there to step up if needed, but losing Bradgley really hurts the right-handed relief depth in this bullpen.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Dylan Smith | 40% |
| Setup Role | Trent Harris | 40% |
| Setup Role | Carson Seymour | 10% |
| Middle Relief | Joel Kuhnel | 5% |
- The Giants closer role has turned into Trent Harris vs. Dylan Smith, and honestly, who really cares? This team is really bad, so don’t expect more than one or two save chances the rest of the way.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Andrés Muñoz | 80% |
| Setup Role | Gabe Speier | 10% |
| Setup Role | Eduard Bazardo | 5% |
| Middle Relief | Jose A. Ferrer | 5% |
- Gabe Speier continues to be the only reliever in front of Muñoz that the team can remotely trust, and even so, it’s been rocky despite his velocity improving. At least the strikeouts had been making a comeback lately.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||
|---|---|---|
| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Riley O’Brien | 70% |
| Setup Role | Ryne Stanek | 10% |
| Setup Role | George Soriano | 5% |
| Middle Relief | Luis Gastelum | 5% |
- Ryne Stanek has settled in nicely over the second half, and this goes to show how dumb/lucky the closer “role” and saves are. Stanek opened the year as the closer, had two bad outings, and was replaced by Riley O’Brien, who went on a tear through the end of April. However, if you look at their numbers from April 26th to today, Stanek has outpitched him, and it hasn’t even been close (see below). So if O’Brien opened the year in the role and ran into trouble around the end of April, would Stanek have gotten a shot and potentially taken over the role for the final five months? We’ll never know.
Stanek vs. O’Brien (since April 25th)
| Name | IP | ERA | WHIP | xFIP | SIERA | xERA | K% | K-BB% | Zc-Os% | SwStr% | WPA/LI |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ryne Stanek | 49.1 | 3.28 | 1.16 | 3.85 | 3.67 | 3.75 | 25.0% | 15.0% | 49.4% | 12.0% | 0.70 |
| Riley O’Brien | 46.2 | 5.01 | 1.44 | 4.61 | 4.37 | 6.03 | 21.9% | 9.0% | 61.2% | 10.6% | -0.35 |
- I wrote this about Gordon Graceffo in yesterday’s RP Roundup, I somehow missed these changes he had made. Graceffo has significantly changed his pitch mix since July 9th, throwing 38.5% sliders over his past 33 innings (41.5% FA, 17% CH, 3% FC). Prior to that, he was 47.5% fastball, 27% cutter, 16.5% curveball, and 9% changeup. Since he started throwing that slider, he holds a 1.91 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 28.5% K rate.

| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Bryan Baker | 75% |
| Setup Role | Kevin Kelly | 10% |
| Setup Role | Cam Booser | 5% |
| Middle Relief | Cole Sulser | 5% |
- Kevin Kelly has really been struggling lately, as Bryan Baker isn’t the only one with diminished velocity. Yet somehow, it was Tyler Wells who wound up on the IL today, so I guess the team feels as if Baker and Kelly are OK to continue. Not many teams could afford to lose their top three relievers, but if Kelly and/or Baker were also to miss time, the Rays may have something cooking in Ty Johnson and Brody Hopkins.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||

| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Jacob Latz | 80% |
| Setup Role | Robert Garcia | 5% |
| Setup Role | Jakob Junis | 5% |
| Middle Relief | Chase Silseth | 5% |
- Robert Garcia has been a pleasant surprise since returning from the IL, and he immediately jumps in front of everyone else here, somewhat by default, but he also looks really good right now.
| CLOSER SITUATION | ||

| Role | Pitcher | Save Chances |
| Closer | Louis Varland | 80% |
| Setup Role | Tyler Rogers | 10% |
| Setup Role | Spencer Miles | 5% |
| Middle Relief | Mason Fluharty | 5% |
- I kind of understand why Spencer Miles has had a ton of success; I dig the sinker/slider duo, but what I don’t quite understand is all the strikeouts he’s been generating lately. He has been throwing fewer four-seamers, which is totally fine by me; get rid of it for all I care.

| Co-Closer | Erik Tolman | 40% |
| Co-Closer | Jack Sinclair | 30% |

- With Beeter optioned to AAA, this becomes a two-man committee between Erik Tolman and Jack Sinclair. Probably, right? I don’t know.
Injured List
| Edwin Díaz | Neck. Charged with five runs in two-thirds of an inning in a 9/13 rehab outing for Triple-A Oklahoma City, Dave Roberts said on 9/14 that Díaz “hasn’t been good” on the assignment and “needs to pitch better” before the club considers activating him. He is set for at least one more rehab appearance, with Roberts watching to determine whether Díaz earns a postseason spot. |
| Ryan Helsley | Elbow. Made his first rehab appearance on 9/12, throwing a scoreless inning for Triple-A Norfolk. That followed the live batting practice session on 9/8 and five bullpens dating to 9/4 at Camden Yards. Testing showed inflammation around the UCL with the ligament intact, so surgery is not part of the plan. He’s on the 60-day IL after the 7/3 placement. |
| Devin Williams | Shoulder. Faced hitters on 9/14 at Citi Field and is scheduled to do so again on 9/17, with New York saying he could be activated two or three days after that. He restarted a throwing program with a game of catch on 8/29. Williams began feeling arm fatigue in early August but did not have an MRI until after his 8/7 outing, which revealed the strain. |
| Félix Bautista | Shoulder. Made his eighth rehab appearance, seventh with Triple-A Norfolk, on 9/12 and has allowed two runs over 6 2/3 innings at Norfolk. Craig Albernaz said on 9/7 that Bautista’s return was not imminent, per Matt Weyrich, with command rather than health the holdup. He is working back from August 2025 surgery to repair a torn labrum and rotator cuff. |
| Robert Suárez | Elbow. Faced live hitters on 9/13, throwing 15 pitches and touching 98 mph, per Jesús Cano. “I was very encouraged,” Walt Weiss said. “To be honest with you, I wasn’t expecting that. I thought he kind of eased into it, but he let it go, and it was really good, and he felt really good afterwards.” Mark Bowman reported that another live BP is set for later this week. |
| Pete Fairbanks | Hand. Fairbanks exited his 9/14 appearance in Arizona after six pitches with a recurrence of medial nerve irritation in his pitching hand, per Jesse Borek. It is the third nerve episode of his season, he was sidelined by a similar issue in late April and again in August, and he has been diagnosed with Raynaud’s syndrome, which restricts blood flow to the hand. |
| Edgardo Henriquez | Back. Placed on the 15-day IL on 9/14 with lower back discomfort. Los Angeles says he is ineligible to be activated before the end of the regular season and lists a possible October return. Henriquez earned his second save on 9/6 against Washington, striking out two in a scoreless ninth. |
| Tyler Wells | Forearm. Placed on the 15-day IL on 9/15, retroactive to 9/13, with right forearm tightness. Per Mark Topkin, a Monday MRI showed “the best news possible” and they are “hoping that it’s just a minimum stint” and he can return for playoffs. He is eligible to return on 9/28. |
| Tyron Guerrero | Shoulder. Threw an inning of live batting practice on 9/12 against Anthony Seigler, Nate Eaton and Caleb Durbin, reaching 97-98 mph (this feels low for him?), per Chad Tracy. He is eligible on 9/16, and Boston intends to activate him at some point during the Rangers series. He went on the 15-day IL on 9/1 with right shoulder inflammation. |
| Jason Adam | Shoulder. Began a rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso on 9/13, retiring the side in order, and is expected to need at least one more outing. He resumed light catch from 90 feet on 8/17 after sitting seven weeks and said, “Felt clean, I felt no pain, so really good.” The MRI showed no structural damage, just the subscapularis strain. |
| Justin Slaten | Elbow. Setback. No new updates since 9/7, when interim manager Chad Tracy said Slaten had been shut down from throwing, per Gabrielle Starr. That followed Chris Cotillo’s 8/31 report that Slaten was “on-and-off” throwing with symptoms that hadn’t resolved. He went on the 15-day IL on 8/16, retroactive to 8/13; the MRI showed no structural damage. |
| Steven Okert | Hamstring. Throwing in West Palm Beach and progressing through a throwing program, per Houston’s 9/8 update, the most recent available. He was placed on the 15-day IL on 9/4, retroactive to 9/1, with a right hamstring strain, per Chandler Rome, after not pitching in the White Sox series. He is eligible on 9/16. |
| Sam Bachman | Forearm. Threw a bullpen on 9/11 and felt good, then made a rehab appearance with Triple-A Salt Lake on 9/13, tossing a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. He reached 99 mph in a 9/4 outing for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. He was pulled after nine pitches on 8/2 with what was called a dead arm before testing turned up right forearm radial nerve inflammation. |
| Jeremiah Estrada | Shoulder. Rehabbing in Arizona and had not resumed throwing as of 9/8, and San Diego now says his rest-of-season status is in doubt, a reversal from Craig Stammen’s earlier optimism about the stretch run. He passed his 9/9 eligibility date without activation. The 8/26 placement, retroactive to 8/25, was his third IL stint of 2026 with three different injuries. |
| Garrett Cleavinger | Forearm. Has resumed playing catch but still has no timetable for a return, Marc Topkin reported on 9/15. Cleavinger went on the 15-day IL on 9/5 after unsuccessfully trying to pitch through the condition, surrendering 10 runs over his last 8 2/3 innings. He had 15 holds by early July as Tampa Bay’s primary left-handed setup option and is eligible on 9/20. |
| Caleb Kilian | Oblique. No new updates since August, when Kilian was described as getting close to resuming throwing after three weeks shut down, and interim manager Don Mattingly did not rule out a return this season. He suffered the left oblique strain on his final pitch of the 8/9 win at Toronto and went on the 15-day IL on 8/10. |
| Gavin Hollowell | Shoulder. Continuing the rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa that began 9/5, with another rehab appearance logged as of 9/13. Counsell said on 8/19 that Hollowell “ended up being shut down from throwing a little longer than anticipated” before resuming a program. He had a 2.51 ERA with one save and one hold over 14.1 innings before the 7/31 placement. |
| Huascar Brazobán | Lat. Continuing the rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte that began 9/2, per James Fegan, with another appearance logged as of 9/13. He passed his 9/9 eligibility date without activation. Brazobán last pitched 8/24 against Texas, came to Chicago from the Mets on 8/3, and has a 6.30 ERA over 10 appearances with the White Sox. |
| Colin Holderman | Wrist. Threw a bullpen session on 9/11 at Progressive Field, per Paul Hoynes. The wrist flared up on a warmup pitch before his 9/3 relief appearance, and he went on the 15-day IL on 9/4. He has dealt with the same issue in recent seasons and intends to undergo a procedure after the season. He’s eligible on 9/19. |
| Grant Anderson | Biceps. Will begin a rehab assignment on 9/16, per Adam McCalvy. Anderson felt tightness after throwing back-to-back games in Cincinnati on 9/5 and 9/6, was examined by two Reds doctors, and went on the 15-day IL on 9/7. He’s eligible on 9/22. |
| Manuel Rodríguez | Back. Faced teammates in live batting practice on 9/11, then began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham on 9/13, throwing a scoreless inning with a walk and a strikeout. He went on the 15-day IL on 9/4, with a lower back strain and is eligible on 9/18. Rodríguez had been back only since 8/23, when the Rays reinstated him from the 60-day IL. |
| Fernando Cruz | Elbow. Cruz has not yet resumed throwing, Aaron Boone said on 9/13, a week after Cruz told Meredith Marakovits he expected to start throwing by the end of that week. He met with Dr. Keith Meister, who advised a conservative approach for now. Cruz was diagnosed with a partial tear of the right UCL on 8/26, the same day the Yankees placed him on the 15-day IL. |
| Kirby Yates | Shoulder. Ben Cherington said on 9/15 that Yates could return “sometime this homestand,” and Pittsburgh has flagged a possible return during the 9/15-17 series against Milwaukee. He became eligible on 9/15 after the 9/3 placement retroactive to 8/31 with a right shoulder impingement. |
| Peyton Gray | Elbow. No new updates since the 8/31 placement, retroactive to 8/30, with right elbow inflammation. Texas said he was not expected to be out for the remainder of the season but set no timetable, and he passed his 9/14 eligibility date without being activated. |
| Cole Winn | Shoulder. No new updates since the 8/31 placement, retroactive to 8/28, with a right rotator cuff strain dating to 8/25. He passed his 9/12 eligibility date without being activated. |
