Depth Chart and Matchups

  • Liam Hicks (MIA) gets the odd start against RHP.

** Yohel Pozo (STL) is playing at backup levels with Herrera at DH every day.

Catcher News and Playing Time Changes

Patrick Bailey hit the IL with a neck strain, so the recently-promoted Andrew Knizner has been promoted to a starting catcher job in San Francisco. Logan Porter will fill in as the backup. Knizner is 0% rostered and will get the bulk of the starts for at least the next week. He’s batting .067 in five games, but his first and only hit was a home run. He might have some appeal in NL-only leagues as a volume option.

Not much to report on the depth chart. Brett Sullivan will serve as the backup in Pittsburgh with Endy Rodríguez on the 60-day IL.  The Athletics acquired Austin Wynns to back up the rookie Willie MacIverwho fell into the starting job with Shea Langeliers on the shelf with an oblique strain. Austin Hedges is back on the Guardians’ bench after clearing concussion protocols.

Streaming Options

Alejandro Kirk (TOR) 36% on Yahoo – Kirk was a streaming option from last week. He turned out to be a winner, hitting for a .478 average with two home runs in the previous week. He was rostered in 14% of leagues on Yahoo when I suggested him last week, and he’s already up to 36% today. He has a cushy schedule against the D-Backs and White Sox, which should help him keep the good times rolling.

Bo Naylor (CLE) 5% on Yahoo – Naylor is coming off a good week where he went 5-for-15 with two home runs. He plays the Giants at Oracle Park to start the week, but is rewarded with three starts in Sacramento against the Athletics. The A’s and their AAA stadium have the 29th-worst team ERA at 5.63, so the subpar San Francisco matchup should be worth waiting through.

Willie MacIver (ATH) 0% on Yahoo – MacIver has a full seven-game homestand next week against the Astros and Guardians. He’s struggled in his debut with a 45 wRC+, but Sacramento will be hot, and the ball will carry. He carried a 1.017 OPS in 35 games at AAA this year, and it’s a matter of time before we start seeing him succeed in the bigs.

Danny Jansen (TBR) 1% on Yahoo – Jansen will face the struggling Orioles to start the week and the non-Skubal Tigers to close it out. He’s coming off a strong week where he mimicked Naylor exactly and went 5-for-15 with two home runs.
