Catchers to Stream: Week 23

Catcher news and streamer options for Week 23.

You’ve come to the right place to find all the catchers that are fit to stream. Here’s a look at each team’s schedule and their starting and backup catcher options. Scroll to the right to see the full week’s worth of matchups.

Depth Chart and Matchups

I had some trouble finding the predicted starters for next weekend:

Catcher News and Playing Time Changes

  • It was a quiet week for changes on the catching depth chart. Victor Caratini hit the seven-day concussion IL, and the Astros called up César Salazar to take over the backup catching job for the next week at least.
  • I swapped Kyle Higashioka ahead of Jonah Heim after Higashioka put up a strong week at the plate and won extra starts at DH over Heim. Expect these two to keep swapping back and forth.
  • It’s an excellent week for fans of great baseball-names. The final two additions to the depth chart are the new, temporary backups in Washington D.C. and St. Louis: CJ Stubbs and Jimmy Crooks III. What they lack in fantasy appeal, they more than make up for in sounding-like-an-old-timey-detective-duo appeal.

Streaming Options

Gabriel Moreno – ARI (25% on Yahoo!): Moreno is probably your best streaming option this week in any league where he’s available. He has a 1.123 OPS and two home runs in five games since rejoining the team.

Kyle Teel / Edgar Quero – CWS ( 16% / 2% on Yahoo!): Teel has been great and has seen his roster percentage skyrocket in the last week. Quero has been almost as good, but he’s still lagging. Both play around five out of every seven games thanks to the wide-open White Sox DH spot.

Ryan Jeffers – MIN (19% on Yahoo!): Four games against the White Sox.

Patrick Bailey – SFG (3% on Yahoo!): Three games at Coors. Sounds like the perfect time for Bailey to hit his third home run of the season.

Freddy Fermin – SDP (1% on Yahoo!): Two good matchups against Baltimore at home and then a three-game road trip to Colorado. Fermin is playing nearly every day, though his bat has been quiet in the last week.

Riley Adams – WSN (1% on Yahoo!): Marlins starters have been having a rough go of it, and Adams should face four of them. His backup, rookie CJ Stubbs, won’t eat into his playing time at all as he eases in.
