Depth Chart and Matchups

Playing Time Changes

  • Adley Rutschman is back from his brief IL stint. Samuel Basallo will return to his regularly scheduled role as backup
  • J.T. Realmuto will spend at least the next week on the IL with back spasms. Garrett Stubbs and Rafael Marchán will handle catching duties in his absence. Stubbs was hitting well at Triple-A before getting the call, and the Phillies may prefer to get his bat in the lineup over Marchan’s with his .086 batting average.
  • Daniel Susac is out with elbow neuritis; Eric Haase will fill in as the Giant’s backup.

Streaming Options

Carter Jensen – KCR (34% on Yahoo): Jensen’s putting together a strong rookie campaign with six home runs and a .919 OPS. He’s an everyday player, starting in 11 of the Royals’ past 12 games, thanks to getting plenty of time at DH when he’s not behind the plate. He’s shaping up to be a streaky hitter in the early going, and he’s in the midst of a hot streak with a .324 average in the last two weeks. He’ll face the Angels, followed by the Athletics, so he has good matchups ahead to keep the momentum going.

Moisés Ballesteros – CHC (16% on Yahoo): Ballesteros hasn’t played a game at catcher this year but is eligible in most leagues. He’s playing in most of the Cubs’ games (seven of the last ten) and playing well, with a .392 average and three home runs this season. He’ll match up against the Dodgers to close out this week and see the back halves of the Padres’ and Diamondbacks’ rotations next week.

Garrett Stubbs – PHI (0% on Yahoo): For deep leagues and NL-only leagues, Stubbs could be a solid addition. He posted a 1.045 OPS over 10 games at Triple-A and could easily hit his way into the starting job.
