Depth Chart and Matchups

Playing Time Changes

  • RED SOX: Mickey Gasper has tentatively assumed the starting catcher job for Boston. He has slightly more catching starts than Carlos Narváez in the last ten games, and has drawn a handful of starts at first and DH.
  • WHITE SOX: Edgar Quero has started against every left-handed pitcher that the White Sox have faced in the last month. Drew Romo still starts most games against righties, but Quero is out-hitting him at the moment and will likely push into a clear starting role despite the lack of southpaw starters on the schedule.
  • MARINERS: Jhonny Pereda has emerged as the favorite over Mitch Garver for the Mariners. Cal Raleigh is still a few weeks away from rejoining the club, and Pereda should continue to start most days for Seattle in the interim.
  • PHILLIES: Garrett Stubbs snuck his way into the backup job for the Phillies over Rafael Marchánthough neither is relevant with J.T. Realmuto regularly starting five games in a row.
  • PIRATESEndy Rodríguez drew the most recent back-to-back start for the Pirates and seems to be the favorite for the time being. He’s swinging a hot bat with an .847 OPS since making his season debut in mid-May.
  • CARDINALS: Jimmy Crooks seems to have supplanted Pedro Pagés‘ backup job in St. Louis. He has one start at DH in the six games since he was recalled from Triple-A.
  • ROCKIES: Braxton Fulford drew the most recent backup start for Colorado, indicating that he has the job over Brett Sullivan.

Streaming Options

Endy Rodríguez– PIT (1% on Yahoo): Three for his last twelve and likely to hold the starting job through the next week. Faces the Dodgers followed by the Marlins, so more interested in him for the second half of the week.

Jhonny Pereda – SEA (1% on Yahoo): Seems to be ahead of Mitch Garver in the pecking order. Baltimore and Washington are good matchups, and he’s batting .304 over the last two weeks.

Moisés Ballesteros / Carson Kelly – CHC (13% / 13% on Yahoo!): A road trip to Coors never hurt anybody. Ballesteros is in a strict platoon but will benefit from a full schedule of right-handed starters. Ballasteros is batting .087 over the last month so feel free to roll with Kelly if you value the higher floor (batting .237 in the same span). I’d sooner target Ballasteros; he’s a better hitter than we’ve seen and there’s nothing like the Rockies rotation to wake up a cold bat.

Gabriel Moreno – ARI (37% on Yahoo!): He gets the Marlins and the non-Chase Burns Reds in Cincinnati next week.
